Worst Motherwell Xi Of The Naughties...
nethertonwellfan replied to Toxteth O'Grady's topic in Club Chat
I think John Davies must be the worst player I have ever saw in a Motherwell jersey. Absolute rotten. -
You're right though I think everyone chooses there team in for different reasons. I chose my team on ability rather than games so between Smith Marshall and Ruddy the best keeper is undoubtedly Ruddy though I definatley see your point.

Worst Motherwell Xi Of The Naughties...

See to be honest I was struggling with the midfield and I was clutching at straws. I saw his name and couldn't remember him playing so I thought he must have been shit then stick him in Sub him for Paul harvey then -
I was of the same opinion as you. I was stuck between the number of games or just who was the better player. I think in the last decade although he has come late in the decade Ruddy is still the best keeper we have had. So i thought pick the best team we have had irrespectice of games played. Ruddy has to be in the team, no?

Worst Motherwell Xi Of The Naughties...

I'll select my team shortly but you have some dodgy selections in your squad there. Adams , Kerr and McBride were never as bad to be in a worst team. -
One of the hardest things I have tried to do. There are so many players that I love and want to put in the team but as they say there is only 11 starting slots. I wasn't sure to pick people that had only a limited number of games but I thought I would pick the best players irrespective of the number of games that they played. So here goes. Ruddy Corrigan Reynolds Partridge McMillan Alan McCormack O'Donnell Leitch McFadden Porter McDonald Subs: Marshall, Quinn, Clarkson, Ross McCormack, Criagan, Paterson , Pearson I have no doubt with that squad we would be winning the league this year.

If the conditions improve to something of a normality I would guess at 2 to 2 and a half hours. If the snow was like this I'm no too sure.

They have scored only one more goal than us so we must be more prolific then. They have 4 points less than us and they still have celtic, Dundee United and Hibs to play for a second time so I don't think they stats make a difference. The league table is the only one that counts.

See at least some paper out there knows what they are talking about

Aye my ancestors came over here because of the potato famine. So should I go home?

Send him back to his own fucking country on loan

See the money that is raised. When will it have to be paid? Is it on the day or a week or so after ?

Fair does I was only saying that I am guilty as charged of singing the songs the Smellick fan is talking about and I feel a wee tad hypocritical. It doesn't stop me singing them though and I'm in no way in agreement with they daft beggars
-
That I agree with. I was meaning indirectly I suppose because if we did lose those games it could have set a tone for the rest of the season. It wouldn't have meant we would go down but it is hard to claw your way back if a gap opens up at the bottom. I suppose the only game we did win that had direct consequences was the Aberdeen game in McGhee's first season. Although with that argument this isn't a must win game and this debate is pointless
-
take in Malpas horerendous season. If my memory serves me right in the middle of the season we had a couple of games where if we lost we may have been rooted to the bottom. We played Dunfermline and beat them. In McGhee's season alot of the games against the Dundee United's , Hibs, Hearts and Aberdeen were must wins and we won them. Even last year when we were on the same points as bottom of the league Hamilton we faced a few games where we had to win to avoid hitting the bottom of the table and we won them. So all in all our record is pretty good when we have to win. I grant you there is exceptions like St Mirren for the top six but I blame Mutley for that.
-
I agree he is open for abuse Do you no think the song is just a wee tad hypocritical. Come on I am as guilty as the next man on this one. We moan at McGeady and McCarthy not playing for Scotland and choosing to play for ROI but we hae had players of their own who we have loved do the same. Don't get me wrong I think it's funny but deep down I am being a wee bit hypocritical. But that I suppose is what fitba is aw aboot.

It may be a typical paranoid Celtic fan but the point about Tommy Coyne is a valid one. He could also mention Owen Coyle and Jim O Brien.
-
Oh sometimes it does. I just think he doesn't have a clue how to run a football club. And we can't afford to spend money we tried it with Boyle and it led to our near ruin. We can't even get 5 thousand through the gates against Hearts anymore.
-
Why so he can get rid of Jim Gannon and then appoint a caretaker manager and then appoint a caretaker caretaker manager and so on til we are in the first division. Then put is up for sale remove us from the market only for him to put us up for sale 6 weeks later. And all the time trying to rename the east stand The Tunnocks tea cake at East stand stand. Naw I think I would prefer John Boyle to stay. If this highly unlikley event did take place I would be in tears for days. He would kill Motherwell.
-
See i kind of agree that the football we aren't playing isn't working just now. But do you think it may just be at the moment we are 2 or 3 players short of being able to play this system and Gannon has recognised this and will sort it out in January with a couple of signings. So he is keeping faith with the system for the benefit of the players that can play this system. Sometimes it takes a while for teams to adapt to new styles of play and changing the system can have an advesre effect. Maybe that is his thinking and we may see an improvement in January when he can put another couple of peices of the jigsaw together. As someone has already said Rome wasn't built in a day.

GK-Ruddy LB- Hammell RB- Saunders CB- Hutchison CB- Reynolds A diamond in midfielf of : DM - Hately CM- Jennings CM- Coke AM- Murphy CF- Sutton CF - Jutkiewicz 3-1 to us I think. We have a decent record in MUST win games and I think we will win comfortably all though there will be inevitable nerves until we get the 3rd goal. Sutton Lukas and I think hately is due a goal.

I don't and I don't want a scapegoat either. I want him to be good I just cant see what he offers the team. I just want him to be able to put in a decent crossd and when he loses possesion to defend. Is that to much to ask of a full back ? If he created goals I would forgive his poor defending. If he could defend well I would forgive his poor crossing. If he possessed one of the two I would be all for giving him a while longer but he doesn't.
