  1. Just a wee bump based on the warm up friendlies now complete. Tierney looks on form, Gilmore added something when he came on, Dykes has to convert workrate into goals and everyone who plys their trade in the premiership seems to worthy of a start .... sadly for the SPFL. I’d also opt for Cooper in that defence. I can’t see a former player playing unless there’s a major injury or were resting players before the last 16 ...... There’s only three teams in the SOL fantasy league. Get involved folks.
  2. An ex player is getting a start tonight vs Luxembourg
  3. Interesting statement by Killie. If he's after that money he's onto plums. Going in asking that after being relegated and their annual revenue in mind boggling. I bet Flow would like to unleash the dragon with a statement like that on a few agents or players. Would be a glorious thing to read.
  4. We'd have missed out on James McFadden both times .... With ponytail and Turkish arse follicle/scalp operation What is the worst barnet sported by anyone in C&A in modern times, I ask this is avoid the 70's which were rich pickings
  5. Amazing what swinging on the bar when requested does for your reputation when it comes to nostalgia
  6. We've got an easy demonstratable "come here and get a big move if you're good enough" model now. That combined with the increased TV exposure that you get in the SPFL opposed to the lower English leagues, I hope if there are enough agents out there that look longer term than immediate payday then we could do better than Lafferty. So far our recruitment/retention has been mostly uninspiring so if he does sign I doubt it would be bucking the trend.
  7. As long as we avoid anything that gets a legitimate slagging from the rest of Scottish football. i.e. St Mirren "Lederhosen", Hearts "Mr Blobby"
  8. I’d just like to think there are better out there. There must be a striker somewhere who could emulate Moult and we could get a payday at the end of his time. Issue is finding him. Can’t help but feel I’ve seen this adoration of a player numerous times before. Cup final in 2017, Bigi plays OK compared to the rest, many on here see his regular inclusion as the key to success. Hastie, purple patch, a few wise heads were suggesting the hype should be tempered and that, with hindsight was astute. Lafferty has a number of things not going for him, attitude, age and a run of good games after a significant drought. Adding penalties to his tally has to be tempered too, what’s important here if he was instrumental in them being won rather than slotting them away. In his favour, he seemingly single handedly kept a rank team their top flight status a possibility until the last round of fixtures. But context is required, I didn’t watch all of both legs of the playoff, maybe that’s a better indicator. His arrival would result in a shoulder shrug rather than genuine anticipation for me.
  9. Wasn’t the paddypower no sponsor strip with claret shorts?
  10. Collar too busy for me otherwise only concern is a new strip is now a yearly occurance
  11. Turnbull, Gordon and Cooper all got a chance to stake a claim. Forrest too, however playing wingback
  12. Popular guy evident from the farewell message on the clubs social media. To secure a 2 year deal is remarkable and Jim Goodwin is taking a major punt. I can only think he must have ubered Tony Fitzpatrick back after a night out during the last cold snap.
  13. Issue is the players that are effective in that role are probably the rarest of all footballers, therefore carry a premium and even more so if they can actually deliver the goods.
  14. Are you describing the 2020-21 squad here?
  15. What is a necessity is a centre half who can marshal the defence. Despite O'Donnell being made captain you can't expect him to run the show and talk the others through the game. I'd like to think that GA could identify someone who has resalability than someone looking to pick up his last paycheck before retirement.
  16. No different to being at Parkhead one time and the big screen showed a coke advert with the glass getting filled, ice cubes bouncing and condensation dripping down the outside of the glass. Almost immediately 20,000 stood up and went off into the bowels to get one. They are a dream to market to. Not overly bright, non questioning, stick anything in green and white or red white and blue and they buy it. I know plenty who won't chew blue or green extra because of their bias. The denziens of Castle Grayskull and the Tattiedome need their clickbait fix. It's how that rag would crowbar in an OF reference if someone had no association with the OF. i.e: "Ian St John sadly passes away" "Potential Rangers supporter sadly passes away. Ian St. John didn't go to a catholic school and therefore we can infer he probably would have had a soft spot for Rangers"
  17. Thing is GA has seen enough to know if its a good move or not. I'll sit and see what transpires. Notwithstanding he may decide to go elsewhere, let's not be arrogant about him only coming here. His history so far suggests he is a confidence player but hampered by lack of consistency. On his game he's a handful but unfortunately those are like hens teeth. Alloa ... didn't set the heather alight Back to FP ..... heather blowtorched Ibrox ..... was always bought as someone to be brought on rather than immediate inclusion in the matchday squad Rotherham .... amazing start, went off the boil (sound familiar?) Motherwell ..... the indifference/apology making/citing of hope on here tells us that he didn't enhance the squad or options this season
  18. More chance of Mrs Polworth being appointed out new social media manager than seeing Marvin back in C&A.
  19. We sold him for 400k and I pretty sure everyone was both surprised and wanted the club to bite their hand off. A lot can change in a few years in football. I’d like to think we’d be looking for more saleable assets.
  20. Mulumbu yeah? Who's 34, started 10 and came off the bench in 11 due to fitness concerns (BBC Article), and went AWOL before the two leg playoff because he couldn't be arsed. Good shout. That gets the same round of applause you claim Vigurs got. As for the comments on the players being tainted because they were relegated, here's a hypothetical: Say back in January we couldn't secure a keeper and had to see out the season with Chapman. We end up relegated, does that mean Tony Watt is tainted because he was unable to contribute due to injury? Is Alan Campbell suddenly pish? In a shitty season there are always some who avoid criticism and kids who have promise. To rule them out universally is a knee-jerk and naive. I'm pretty sure I could put my house on between the two relegated teams there's as least 4x OOC or released players who offer more than our current personnel or are exciting and offer major hopes of pushing on in the right environment, system and coaching.
  21. Inside Motherwell (YouTube) DEC: "Hopefully when I come back here I won't get too bad a reception ......." WHOLE WELL SUPPORT: "Is that right? Aye?"
  22. Would anyone see any value in any of the players listed, only if they are better what we've got: New Contracts Offered (free agents): Kyle Lafferty Ross Millen Greg Kiltie Mitch Pinnock Calum Waters Tomas Brindley Kyle Connell Unsure of Future: Chris Burke Kirk Broadfoot Players leaving Diaguely Dabo Gary Dicker Clevid Dikamona Nicke Kabamba Youssouf Mulumbu George Oakley Danny Rogers Ally Taylor Aaron Tshibola Danny Whitehall Loan deals ending Colin Doyle (Hearts) Zeno Ibsen Rossi (Bournemouth) Zech Medley (Arsenal) Brandon Pierrick (Crystal Palace)
  23. Yeah play independently of each other at their clubs. You're looking to see who can gel quickly and effectivdly in a short period of time. Well Griffiths hasn't featured much and unless he has Portuguese satellite telly I doubt he's seen that much of Gauld. Obviously videos are available but I think not being front and centre weekly in a highlights package counts against him. Is Nisbet much better than him? Would you prefer a zoom call or a face to face? I for one think seeing players interact with those around them both on and off the field can influence their inclusion. Che Adams is a shoe in due to the pedigree of his club but if in training Griffiths made him look like yer Granny up front, I'd go with Griffiths.
