  1. If you think the refs decisions on that day and the Friday night after were down to luck, akin to the flip of a coin. Then there's no hope. Yes fortune can come your way via the draw, home draws over away, your path to the final etc, but if you're fitter, hungrier, have more desire and drive then that certainly stacks the chips in your favour. With respect to the refereeing decisions made, if you think it is down to anything other than the ref shitting it overtly or sub-consciously you're onto plums. I've always said your average SFA referee when they bank their £1,500 and go back to their day job as a accountant, surveyor or leader of the Tories will encounter a hell of a lot more OF fans in their daily life than Killie, Livvy or us. Was McGregor going down at 86 mins and getting a penalty when we were 1-0 up in the "invincibles" season due to bad luck? I'd wager the ref didn't want to be the guy officiating over their defeat and McGregors actions were a relief. I've always thought they get half a man advantage from their support and half from the officials and another from their financial gulf. That needs our full team on song and a quite few of theirs to be off their game. That's what equates to their record over the years with us as because of the players we can attract and afford. It is not often you get the whole Motherwell team purring away perfectly together.
  2. Well the press seem to think St Mirren have a team of once in a generation world beaters and they're two points ahead of us ........ and every Well fan thinks we're chronic.
  3. Doesn't diminish the sentiment or the truth of the quote which essentially is, you put the hours in, you improve. At present our plan in order of prominence is: A) Avoid relegation B) Make top six (to guarantee an OF visit to FP and the £250k it brings in) C) Decent cup run in one out of the two D) If B is achieved, push for Euro place In our league precession, there is a realisation that it will be one by one of two clubs. Therefore a team like us should be focused any tangible success coming from the cups.
  4. The "MFC" seemed to be legible. So many options: Copying the original or new club tartan for one, a grid lends itself to that Introducing white banding so the clubs colours are reflected (similar to 2011 Cup Final tifo) TH-E -ST-EE-LM-EN divides into 7 sections perfectly Alternating bands of colours Copying elements of the badge and blowing them up, i.e. Ravenscraig shown over 2 blocks, the white ball, the trio of tree's, "EST 1886" Horizontal Stripes Majority amber with claret band 3/4 way up like the strip Sponsorship opportunities
  5. You make your own luck. Gary Player once said, "you know it's funny .... the more I practice, the luckier I get". I have no doubt the size of their keeper won the mental battle and got in the heads of our players. However everyone was talking about the comeback, glazing over the general malaise that was the first 70 minutes of that tie. People talk about our league finishes over the past 30 years and while the average placing over budget graph puts us way ahead of many teams, I'd cash that all in for a cup win. When you think almost every team in the league has picked up something in the last 30 years League Cup: Ross County 15/16 Livvy 03/04 St Johnstone 20/21 St Mirren 12/13 Aberdeen 95/96 and 13/14 Hibs 91/92 and 06/07 Killie 11/12 Raith Rovers 94/95 Scottish Cup: ICT 15/16 St Johnstone 13/14 Hearts 97/98, 05/06 and 11/12 Hibs 15/16 Killie 96/97 Dundee Utd 93/94 and 09/10
  6. Even alternate the claret and amber like the scarfs that almost everyone owns. I guess there is a valid reason for it. Flow is brand aware and we have an adept graphic design team so capability is there. I'm sure there must be more to why its just blocked as it is.
  7. From the Morton game it looks like 7 banks of claret seats, no variation or anything into the seating due to seat colour changes. Don't know why unless amber seats cost double
  8. Erm why would the youngsters perform any worse than the duds we've had this year? Think about what you're saying here.
  9. Exactly Gaz, same people who fret about cup final tickets or question business decisions when they don't appreciate the nuances of those decisions. It has only been in the last few weeks that the bottom 6 clubs had any sort of real points spread. Thing is regular posters know the naysayers as their record is long played and wearying. Not that long ago a mere two game winning run could take you from 11th to 5th. All that tells us outside the Glasgow's shame there is nothing separating the teams by and large and certainly not a massive leap to Aberdeen and Hibs despite their much higher budgets. As another poster has conveyed, the exact same criticisms levelled at our team bounce about in other teams fans forums like an echo chamber. All that tells me despite managers and executives buming up our game really isn't anywhere near an entertaining product as it could or should be ...... and we'll ignore the lack of competition outside the cups. Our game is characterised by frantic pace and fear of relegation for 8 out of 12 (Aberdeen and Hibs probably arrogantly think they're safe) I'd go as far to add us too this year after our third and "decent" summer business on the transfer market but I do think many of our fans are more humble due to our resources. What's the best solution on the table .... let the OF colts teams join the league to farm more players up to Grayskull and the Tattiedome and increase their dominance. In a week where the rich clubs looking to increase their coffers and stifle competition caused such outrage how can this be overlooked as in the same vein? I for one am fed up of our domestic product, it is chronic and you can only get away with a nae knickers and a fur coat for so long. All we all we do facilitate the precision and if you're good and play nice you'll get a wee cup run once every 5 years. Like everything in life, money has ruined it, pyramid economics to the Bosman all conspired to benefit those at the top of the tree. We unearth a one in 20 year gem from our academy and we get a season out of him, is that what we're signing up to be the best we can hope for?
  10. Dundee Utd, St Johnstone, Hibs and either St Mirren or Killie. What a chance to be involved and yet another "wee team" gonna get it outside us. Makes Lawless' outstretched leg even more hard to watch. TBF: Same as the league cup Gutted tonight
  11. Three games left, 7th to play for. I see all this “we gotta go with our best team” stuff all the time. Yes £120k from 9th to 7th can’t be grumbled at but these games should keep be used for players signed for us in the long term or youth. Playing journeymen who have no future here or we can’t make anything out of should be bench warming from now on. Unless part of the agreement with their parent club included appearance caveats. Watt, O’Donnell, Bevis, Lamie, Crawford, Lawless etc. should be starting. Cole and Campbell at decent servants got the club and we owe it to let them to shop window themselves and get a move. Dec, as while I’m not thrilled with his behaviour in January we stand to make money on him if selected for the Euro’s. The rest should be contracted fringe players and kids. All with something to prove and hunger which has been missing. What better time to do it than at the tail end of the season against 2 teams worse and one slightly better than us. I don’t see any merit in playing Long or Magliore again unless Alexander wants their signature.
  12. Incident with McGinley a 118mins, after was 4 minutes, Hibs player red carded, another off with a blood injury, ref blows whistle ..... ref shat it. Regardless we should have taken our chances when they were gilt edged. Magliore should keep his head down on the bus home.
  13. Any momentum we had disappeared at 5 mins into ET.
  14. Off you trott, don’t let the door his yer arse on the way out. Take your “Rule Britannia”, solidarity with Palestinians and “Tiocfaidh ár lá” pish with you too.
  15. I don't think GA will be leading us into season 2022/23
  16. It wasn't OFT's maiden name, but then OTF met a creative midfielder with the world at his feet and joined twitter. From when he was appointed he had 3 weeks to do deals, not a great amount of time, but the scouting network was in place and names would have been floated. Ultimately he didn't live in a vacuum since he left Salford. He would have had the final say .... and some of those signings were questionable. He doesn't bare all the blame, signing a crock in Foley for example. The issue for me is we've won a few, but we've won ugly as hell at times (but maybe no worse than what we experienced on the other side in the first half of the season). We've robbed points from Killie and St Mirren. While I'm happy to win under these circumstances on occasion, it makes tough watching if it's the norm. Yes we are in a cup quarter final, sounds good doesn't it. To get there we humped part timers after receiving a humping of our own in the league and scraped through against a team fighting for Championship survival. As with everything it is all about context. There are a number of malingerers in the squad and they will go. I expect the team will be fitter than ever before come August. However his stock has risen based on his remit, the place the club was in January and that form table. While OFT is often harder to decipher than the DaVinci code at times, he's right much more than he's wrong, even if you don't personally like the code or content. And no .....my first name isn't Liam.
  17. Be a bit tough, she went 16 years ago ...... and cremated ...... and I'm not Thanos
  18. Somebody change this to "Willie Pettigrew Interview"
  19. The only entertaining thing for me in the past 4 months is the league table tonight and Hibs away. The rest has been like paying £1,000 for a lapdance and yer maw comes out
  20. Results going our way for 7th, every league place is worth about £60k in prize money. 9th to 7th is a solid first team player at our level. Hibs will destroy us unless we show up like we did the last time we played Hibs. Evidence on tonight is not hopeful. How long is Roberts out?
  21. 6 cops to move on a guy and his Mrs ...... they're not having a good week are they?
