It was a massive swerve right at the last moment. Saw it perfectly from where I was sitting in East Stand. He had it well covered and then it suddenly swerved the opposite way. As far as I am concerned no blame on him.

Hall came over from Northern Ireland when he was 16.

I know he has been helping put with the development squad and at the Academy free and for gratis for the past few months. I think this is a combination of a thank you for that (and he will be continuing on until end of January), plus it will help if he could get a little game time before he heads off to the MLS, if that works out for him. A case of he helps us and we help him. He will be getting paid very little I would suspect.

Yes, I think he got kicked in the face, got it stitched up at half-time (no goalie subs in those days). I often thought his bravery spurred us on to win that one.

I am glad I am old enough to have seen him play. Not only was his timing of the tackle impeccable, but he had this uncanny knack of being able to judge the high ball and whether the attacker was going to get it or not. You would see him sometimes take a few steps back, the attacker would jump and miss the ball and there was Joe in exactly the right place to collect it. The best left back I have ever seen at Fir Park. A great player and a great man. RIP Joe.
