  1. Listened on cell phone from Florida!!! Magic moments, especially 90+5 at Ibrox. But best thing, even after beating Rangers is Alves comments about how violent we are. Has to be the comment of the century: Motherwell are violent!!! Some of us have waited a long time to see a team that doesn't fold. Thanks for a great start, and I hope the home crowds reflect what's happening on the park!!!
  2. Congratulations!!!! A real team effort. What a different attitude compared to the McGee era.
  3. Sure hope we don't get taken out by whatever this fraud thing is. Accies will really hurt with that.
  4. I saw almost all the home games in the 56-60 era, except I wasn't allowed to go to the Rangers and Celtic games, and the best description of the Ancell Babes was "pure football". IMO the best games were against Hearts. Teams from all over the place, including Brazil, came to play, and after soundly beating Leeds, they wanted to buy the whole forward line. Never been a team like them since. Bert McCann was simply magnificent as a player and as a person. Aitken, Martis, McCann, wow. With all we can get on YouTube surely there must be something of them that todays young bucks could look at. When was the last time any team other than R/C had so many internationalists.
  5. This is a very different team from last year, so we might be much happier as the season progresses. They just don't give up, even when it seems the referees have it in for them. Given our commentators seem a little biased, it did sound like we got nothing, so all credit to the team spirit.
  6. Well now a tough game gets tougher. The difference is we're now playing SPL teams and guess what, they're better than Edinburgh City and Queen's Park. I didn't get all excited with those games, but I think we have a better team than last year. Ross County was a good win, but it's going to be a tough year!!
  7. Right, for all we overseas supporters, and links up yet? Yes 1-0!!
  8. Thank God this season will be done in 15 minutes. Even with nothing to play for anybody with respect for the paying supporters should at least put a bit of effort out. The great Motherwell teams never just showed up to, they left their blood on the park. And what was that comment by the manager about doing their best today to help Accies? I think we've lost the plot, and the plot is simply to win games. Who's driving the vision in the organization. In fan ownership, who's actually running the show, and who is making the football decisions? I can hardly wait for next season
  9. How many times is that Lasley given the ball away so far? Don't think he's completed a pass yet.
  10. I really wonder if fan ownership is the answer. The whole team goes from same as to same as week by week. Too bad Les didn't stick around a little longer, but it'll take somebody like that to take the organization by the scruff of the neck and shack it. I look at Ross County as an example. There's no way they should be where they are, but they are. And how many new players did Killie bring in at the beginning the season. I'm afraid time has passed by for teams like us unless something dramatic happens. The model just doesn't work. We have no vision. I just hate scraping around at the bottom of the barrel.
  11. Right, the fight is really on now to survive. Apart from injuries, how do you explain the two goals? Inexperience perhaps, but mostly bad recruiting, and the ghost of MG still does us in again. I don't understand why almost every other team can get stronger with every transfer window, except for us, and it's gone on for a while now. GRRRR. A few minutes were fine, but the back just didn't do the job today. And how many chances were ruined up front???
  12. Uninspiring so far, and another nonsense goal given away!! Concentration lacking!!
  13. Been out since the final whistle! Lethal driving the motor, bodies all over the place!! I've recovered a bit...BUT!!! Played manager's reaction a few times, and yes, he was speechless, but again imo, it was his fault. A few have wondered how many times we've lost goals and games in the last ten minutes, but did he have a plan for that today? Not that anybody could see. It was Rangers for God's sake, at Ibrox. Did anybody think they wouldn't be coming full steam in the last ten minutes? He should, but never has had a last ten minute strategy, especially against better teams. Stuff we saw leading to the last goal should have been drummed into their heads so much that stupidity should never have happened, and that is all down to the manager, sorry, but that's just a fact. Here was a chance for all of us to be sky high for a week, and a tired player actually thinks he should pass the ball. If ever there was a time for a long ball up the field. Gutted is not the word, but I know a manager who should be by just looking in the mirror.
  14. Have to chip in on Barnstable. Couldn't believe the screaming with the Moult goal, never mind the ranting about the red card that most now seem to agree was deserved. It did seem, according to the commentators, that the ref had it in for us, but it also sounded like we were pretty bad as well. Listening to how bad Accies were just made our effort that much worse, even with ten men. This was a game for the taking but again there didn't seem to be a plan, never mind a strategy to recover from the red card. Can't wait to read McGee's comments, but no doubt he'll be pleased with the point. We might well avoid the bottom two, but that'll likely be due to how bad the bottom seven collectively are, not because of good we are.
  15. Listened to the commentators talk for long periods about many things, so that shows how interesting the game was. Sounded dreadful! But the points are ours. Think the club should give free tickets to all those poor souls who went up the A9. I know how windy it can be around the ground up there, and that wind dominated the game by the sounds of it. So let's hope there is a plan to beat the Accies as they are still a team that can beat us. Nice chance to build a buffet.
  16. With a part-time manager who part-time managed Scotland down to 67th place in the FIFA table, how can we expect anything better? I'm afraid we're in serious trouble unless the Society (owners now) can be strong enough to demand better from the current cast of bad actors, and at the same time scout out a few new players who can actually make a difference.
  17. I think most refs try to be fair, and most supporters from other teams will have somebody they don't like. If they were all full-timers that would be one thing, but they're not, so they're more likely to get it wrong more often. But some are thought enough of to be at UEFA and FIFA events. The people we should hold to account are the players and the managerial staff. Even when we've done well in the league there have always been times when the team doesn't show up, or where the manager hasn't done well with selection and changing. It's been the same this season, and we're where we deserve to be. Inconsistency all over the place, especially from our senior players, when they're fit. I've never really been comfortable with the manager, and I think we suffer from him wearing two hats. Scotland has other options for assistants, but we only have one manager and I feel his mind needs to be squarely on us. So if we could get the players to give even 80%, and the manager to accept his responsibility to turn out a team that's committed to play 90 minutes once in a while, we'd be comfortable in the top six. When Hibs get back next season we'll be hard pressed to make any challenge for sixth. We're just not good enough. Hate to say this, but my confidence this year is down a lot.
  18. O dear what can the matter be??? It's far too early in the season, but it is Annan and the lads need to hammer them. A late goal against agin reminds me of the bad times last season. Then again, maybe I'm asleep and this is all a bad dream!!!
  19. Looks like we're going to rely on everybody else to survive the play-off!!!!
  20. Guess that plan didn't work! Robust Hearts, no kidding!! We're at best a mid-table club with the players we have, but look at the situation today, anybody can be in that 2nd bottom nightmare. So the challenge is pretty straight forward. The question is whether the boss can get enough out of the team between now and the end of the season, and I think the jury is out, given the score is now 5-0. Now the must wins are all within a point and the GA just took a big hit.
  21. Just need to get big John and Higgie back. Then any of the Ancell Babes that are still around, and we'll be all set Just having a laugh lads. We might need a good laugh by the end of the day!!
  22. The game is called football. The object is to score more than the other team. It doesn't matter how good or bad the goals are by either team, you have simply to score more than they do. We haven't been good at either scoring, or defending, so we sit where we do, and that's the reality of it. We need to hope MM can squeeze something out of all of them, but it's still the IB crop on the field and they're just not good enough, not MM's fault. Just hope he's got them sorted out and supplemented/replaced by the end of February. Trying really hard to be positive, really am!!
