Maybe he's ignored it because it's completely irrelevant if you house them in the south. Even then you could probably have housed everyone in the main and cooper stands and still not have anyone sitting in anyone else's allocated seat. It's a non issue. I think if the game had been scheduled to be on TV we may have seen more of an urgent attempt to get the structural damage sorted, but as the game was also in doubt due to the forecasted snow on the Friday night we took the easy option and called it off early. Some think it was the correct decision, some don't. However, for a club who's always bleating on about how skint we are at this time of year plus the fixtures we have in the coming weeks I'm surprised we didn't get it on, especially as the weather on the Saturday morning was forecast and turned out to be pretty mild.
-
Won't someone please think of the children! That's the point of shutting the east and moving folk to another stand away from the deadly loose panels. We do seem to be very unlucky with this sort of thing though.
-
Ach, I'm not being entirely serious. I blame Flow.
-
I haven't ignored anything. I've simply interpreted what has been said in a different way than you, as has at least one other poster. Given there is no forecast of heavy winds that might dislodge the offending panels, I would imagine the risk to the the players and officials would be minimal. Move the fans out of harms way, and the game can go ahead, weather permitting. It's about time we started acting like a professional outfit, the excuses being banded about for postponements over the years are nothing short of embarrassing.
-
Given the statement specifically states "and other areas of more minor storm damage to both the Davie Cooper and Maxim Office Park Stands too.” this suggests to me that the the "adjacent panels" and "same area" mentioned in the statement are confined to the East Stand.
-
From what I read, it said the damage to the south and cooper was minimal and given the weather forecast for tomorrow doesn't suggest any sort of high winds I too don't see any reason why they couldn't have just shut the east. We could probably have housed everyone in two stands truth be told. I think this is just an excuse to call the game off early given the possibility that it might be off due to snow forecast tonight into tomorrow. We should have made sure this game was on by hook or by crook given the fixtures we have coming up.

If you let any team take 20 plus shots at you goal then the likelihood of them getting a lucky deflection or rebound it probably going to be pretty good. As poor as our defence and keeper are those in front of them have to take a long hard look at themselves.
-
And whilst we're at it, can whoever's responsible for the club website please get that Lionel Ainsworth interview from pre season to feck! It does my bloody heed in!
-
I can't think of any games this season where we haven't got exactly what we have deserved, apart from the ones where we have actually stolen points! An absolute shambles of a team.
-
What does it matter? It's more than we can afford.
-
Noone is saying it can't be done. It's the cost that's prohibitive. As others have said it was discussed at length when the pitch was in a state a few years ago and because of the cost it was deemed a none starter. I am sure this info came from inside the club too but I can't be bothered searching back for the thread. You asked for reasons why we don't have an astroturf pitch and people have given you plenty all of which you continue to dismiss. Anyone who disagrees with you is apparently stuck in the dark ages, so what is the point in debating. It aint going to happen whilst we are still at Fir Park, it's that simple.
-
You must be at the madam. The answer is clearly no, it isn't financially viable. We can't afford to spend millions of pounds levelling the pitch and rebuilding half of the ground just to install a plastic pitch!
-
I was under the impression that the costs to level the pitch and work required on the stand foundations and surrounding areas would prohibit the installation of a plastic pitch. Was it not muted that it would involve moving thousands of tonnes of earth just to get the pitch somewhere near flat? I think some folk don't realise just how much of a slope we have. Just look at the wall at the front of the Cooper, it's about three feet different in height at each end. If plastic pitches continue to improve it is something we will undoubtedly have to consider but that time won't come till we relocate to a new ground. You can argue all you want about the pro and cons football wise, as always it comes down to money.

Slightly off topic, but the BBC highlights were once again a complete joke. In a game where there were so many chances (admittedly all for Accies) why did they insist on showing each goal at least 3 times!?
-
Yeah you're right Andy I thought I'd punish myself a bit more and watch it on Alba. The only plus was the rain made it difficult to see, unfortunately no where near enough mind you. Every single goal there was either poor control, a half arsed attempt at a tackle, poor goalkeeping or just down right calamity defending. In that regard I can almost understand why the gaffer said they weren't any better than us as in effect we beat ourselves. I don't agree with that assessment though as they were clearly miles ahead in every department and by the chances could have had 7 or 8 with no complaints. It's almost as if the players looked out the window this morning and thought "fuck that for a game of chases", and boy did it show. Pathetic.
-
Just watching the highlights, Dan should have done better for the first.
-
Humiliation on the cards here!
-
Given our second half performances this season its not looking good. I'd take the 2 0 just now.
-
From the highlights, looked like Thompson tried to do O'Brien and stamped on his calf with some real intent. Deserved red. Their "goal" seemed to bounce on the line at least once and then the second time you couldn't tell as the ball was obstructed by a St Mirren player. Difficult one but can see why it wasn't given. Our goal was a fantastic team effort which built from the very back. Looked like our only chance near enough. If you get a chance have a watch at the youtube highlights as the seeth from the buddies is clearly audible and quite entertaining! Plenty sweary words being banded about lol

That's the thing, has has absolutely nothing to prove and has already shown he can bang them in for fun at this level. He's suffering a drop in form whilst playing in a team devoid of confidence. Even then, alongside Henrik I'd say he's still the best striker we have so its a no brainer he starts every week.

What's the point in introducing a new ethos into the club if we get relegated before we get a chance to properly implement it? Our main criteria should be appointing someone to get us out of the hole we are in now, the grand schemes can wait IMO. No one on the list jumps out at me as the type or manager that will do that unfortunately. The whole process has been rather Meh TBH!
-
I reckon Butcher has been offered the St Mirren job. Thank fuck he's no coming back.

I'm in the Vigurs is lazy camp. That or the guy has a worse engine than Ross Forbes. Dunno what's worse not wanting to work hard or just not being able to. Lawson showed more ability in 45 minutes against Utd than Vigurs has all season. I just don't see him as the creative genius that he is made out to be. Yes he can do a nice pirouette in the middle of the park but what's the point if you constantly give the ball away, and then worst of all don't give 100% to try and win it back. He totally hung Hammell out to dry in the home game against Stjarnan which led to the second goal with his defensive indiscipline and has continued in the same vein ever since. Yesterday he was blowing out his arse after 15 mins, constantly gave the ball away and was far too easily knocked off the ball. Izaguirre ghosting past him at the back post was classic Vigurs. He started in exactly the same way last season and then to his credit slowly came on to a game, but I can't see that happening this season unfortunately.

Unfortunately, I think you might just be right.

I wasn't bothered in the slightest when McFadden was't resigned in the summer and I think the majority of Motherwell fans felt the same. If you had offered me the choice between Ojamaa and Clarkson at the start of the season I would have picked Ojamaa every day of the week, and again I suspect so would most Motherwell fans. I still think he is by far the better player despite Clarky's fantastic form for Dundee. Why we are still getting caught up in this debate anyway is beyond me. We are where we are and it is down to the players we have to get us out of it.
