  1. I'm down from Inverness for the weekend, so unfortunately I'm making this one 2-1 to the good guys through Sutty and Vigurs
  2. Been playing a lot of Football Manager recently, does it show??
  3. I'd like to see a change in formation. I completely understand why McCall has gone with the 442, and stuck with it. It's nice and simple, gives a good balance and it's worked, very successfully, for us in the past. However, with the lack of pace, skill and creativity in the team this year i'd like to see us go with a formation that gives us a bit more width and/or depth. I know we've struggled to score goals of late and changing to just the one striker might not seem ideal but either of these two would be an improvement in the number of chances created i think. The first would maybe leave Sutton/Anier a little isolated but we'd be able to take control of the middle of the park (which has been a problem) and leave the wingers to do their thing going forward, ultimating ending in getting more balls into box. ----------------Sutton/Anier ZFA/Faddy -------------------Ainsworth ---------Vigurs/Carswell Lasley ------------------Lawson Hammell McManus Hutch Ramsden --------------------Hollis The next would maybe see us give a lot more support in and around the centre forward. We'd maybe leave a bit of a gap in the middle of the park where the opposition could take control of possession a little, but with two sitting in front of the defence we'd be a lot more difficult to break down. -----------------Sutton/Anier ZFA/Faddy Vigurs/Faddy Ainsworth --------Lawson/Carswell Lasley Hammell McManus Hutch Ramsden --------------------Hollis It would be a bit of a shame to break up the Sutton/Anier partnership (although they've not been so productive in recent) but our midfield is an absolute shambles right now I think either of these formations better suit the players we have in the squad the now. Lawson and Vigurs are clearly not suited to play in a 2 man midfield, and McFadden and Vigurs are also not best suited be stuck on the right/left. Vigurs and Lawson are plainly good players, and have been under some undue criticism. Both have been asked to play in roles which they're not best suited for. Lawson needs a deeper role where he can receive the ball, pick out passes and break up the play. Vigurs show flashes of skill and creativity, and his left peg would probably be more effective further forward where he can beat a man pick a cross or score goals which he did only last season for County! And this patter about Faddy being no-use/past it/waste of money I in no way shape or form have lost faith in McCall or the players like some of the dafties on here! We are decent side with a good manager. Kilmarnock, Hearts, Hibs, St Mirren, Ross County, Partick Thistle are not. We are also sitting above the team that pumped us on Saturday and the team that beat us easily a couple of weeks ago, while only being a few points behind second and 8 behind the leaders a third of the way through the season. If Motherwell were ever to win the Champions League there'd be cunts on here wanting the managers head if we didn't win the Super Cup afterwards
  4. With Hibs playing Celtic, and Aberdeen and United playing each other, there is an opportunity for us to open up a wee gap on those behind us. After the international break giving us the chance to regroup after the not-so-unexpected defeat at Parkhead, I'd be disappointed if the three points don't stay with us. No great changes in the team i hope. Ainsworth to start on the right. Faddy and ZFA can fight for the left hand side slot
  5. Home for the weekend and making my first trip to Fir Park since the County game at the end of last season. A similar result will do nicely! Watched county a few times in pre season as i was bored shitless up in the highlands, and well, they're a pretty poor side tbh. Brittain is, by far and away, their best player. He'll be pulling the strings but should be dealt with by oor Keef. If they can get Sproule into the game he can be a danger with his directness and pace down the right. A Hammell/ZFA combination on the left side should handle him however. As Ya Beezer said above, they don't really have a settled forward line. They've got a big powerful black boy (Luckassen?) who can make a nuisance of himself with his size and some young boy Ross who hasnt played an awful lot. Don't think they will cause us half the problems United did and if we play anywhere near we can we should have all 3 points by 5pm
  6. Nielson Ramsden Cummins Hutchinson ZFA Ainsworth Vigurs Lawson Faddy Sutton McHugh Subs: Hollis McManus Kerr Hammell Lasley Carswell Anier That's the team I'd like to see put out. We actually have quite a few options to choose from these days. Quite a turnaround from a few months ago!!

    Jim Gannon

I'm over McGhee, him getting punted from Aberdeen was closure
  8. I have a strange affection for RCD Espanyol due to a career in an old Champ Manager
  9. Went for McManus. As commanding a centre-half performance as you're likely to see all season. Came and won every header, his distribution was great (quite a few lefties in the team now) and kept the defence well organised. That Hibs new boy Collins hardly touched the ball all game. Wouldn't say anyone really had a bad game. McHugh and Sutton didn't get a great deal of service or support. They were usually pretty quickly crowded out along with McFadden whenever they got on the ball. The midfield were pretty solid. Lasley putting in a shift and covering the whole pitch as usual. Lawson spraying the ball about fairly well. Vigurs doing his best to get into forward positions out wide. He's definitely better suited to play in the centre but there's no room for him in there unfortunately. Defensively we were great yesterday, albeit against a pitiful Hibs attack. I thought Hammell was class, can't think of another defender in Scotland who's so good on the ball, his left foot is like a magnet. Hutchinson was sound, was unlucky to pick up the booking as he did actually get a touch on the ball, although it was almost head height!! Ramsden was decent as well although i don't think he's the greatest going forward, wouldn't mind young Fraser Kerr being given the chance in that position. Hollis was sound. Thought he looked a wee bit wobbly on Thursday night, although there was nothing he could have done about the goals. Made one cracking save from Robertson, and held onto a couple of difficult shots as well. Quite happy for him to keep his place. ZFA was a good outlet and helped stretch the Hibs defence when he came on. Think he'll be making a lot of appearances off the bench this year! Anier looked lively and it was a really composed finish for the winner (loving the salute celebration as well). Carswell hardly had a touch of the ball for the short time he was on. really like him as a player. Pity i don't think he'll get many starts this year
  10. Can't see past a Motherwell win. Hibs are just.....(what's the word i'm looking for here?)....pish, crap, terrible, awful, mince, rubbish, shady, shite, hopeless. Any and all of those apply.
  11. I'm sure Bradford City's chairman said they would have to pull out if they had won the Capitol One cup final against Swansea last year and qualified
  12. Good stuff. Every time I've seen the boy I've been impressed, and every time I've seen him he looks to have improved. Keep them contracts coming
  13. After sitting through that awful game at Tynecastle on Sunday, and also the last two games against Celtic and Rangers, i have decided upon a few things: - Murphy needs a boot up the arse, and until that happens he needs to be on the bench - Hateley is far from comfortable in midfield, at times i caught him hiding from the ball at the weekend, he is most definitely a right back. Carswell on the other hand.... - We need to play with 2 up top. Having Higdon up top with Humphrey/Murphy out wide nowhere near him doesn't work. He needs somebody to stick close to him otherwise his flick-ons etc are completely useless. I've seen him screaming at Murphy in the past to get closer to him. McHugh/Ojamaa can both do this I would go with: Randolph Hateley Cummins Ramsden Hammell Daley Lasey Carswell Law Higdon Ojamaa
  14. Chris McLaughlin ‏@BBCchrismclaugBBC Scotland will show #Rangers v #Motherwell live on Wednesday Sep 26th KO 1915. #ScottishCommunitiesLeaguecup
  15. Well i'll definitely be going. Never seen us play Sevco before. One to tick off the list
  16. Well that certainly softened the blow of being back in not-so-sunny Strathaven after 3 nights Valencia!
  17. Higdon, durrrr! Randolph was excellent as well but Higgy was better. Three well-taken goals, won more than his fair share in the air today as well. Looked like he was really enjoying himself today as well!
  18. Ooooooooft, what a trip! From chatting and singing songs with Craggs in Finnegans on Wednesday night (and ending up in bed alongside the minibar in our room ), to poolside drinking on the roof of the Eurostars Thursday afternoon with a guy from Wishaw who claimed to be my dad (he even guessed my mums name first time ), to being in the square kicking a ball about / getting a sing-song / being engulfed in smoke bombs etc before the match, to the match itself and the great performance by the players and fans, and finally onto going out on the friday night and not making it back to our hotel until 9am yesterday morning (the nightclub was open till 7am!!!!). The trip had everything and then some! Europe again next year please!!!
  19. Finnegan's this afternoon, shafters?
  20. Thought young Cummins was outstanding tonight
