  1. No Carswell either. Looks like Vigurs will be playing alongside Lasley in the centre and ZFA will be wide left
  2. With Moore and Anier back we have the option of not risking him. Faddy has been excellent of late but the pace of the other two can give defences a different worry
  3. While Nielson did well with regards to shot-stopping and taking crosses (he actually held a few real difficult ones), I thought his distribution was far from great. I went for Hammell for the two quality assists
  4. Yip. I think most (if not all) the league games I've seen us win, we've scored more than the other team
  5. Aye, but to be fair, I'd put Gunnar at left back before I'd put Zaine there.
  6. I don't agree with Hibs banning the drum, it does help with atmosphere and they will lose out on a bit of gate money. However, Hibs fans have complained about it (albeit a pathetic and silly complaint) and I think they'd rather appease their own fans than ours, so I do understand to a degree. I started going to Motherwell games long before drums were involved. I'm not sure, but I think people still managed to get a sing song and a jump about?? I go to games because I like watching football, I like to show my support for Motherwell and I like getting a bevvy and a laugh with mates. Not having a drum there affects none of that.
  7. I'm pretty sure whenever I've been to Easter Road that Motherwell have won. It's a bit of a strange coincidence, but we have enjoyed a good record there for a few years now. I'm home from Inverness this weekend and will be making the trip through I think our team will be fairly similar to last weeks. Hammell will hopefully be fit again (with ZFA picking up a knock it could be a necessity), and I'd imagine Carswell will be back in for Leitch, even though the young lad did well vs. Hearts. Hollis Reid Hutchinson McManus Hammell Ainsworth Lasley Carswell Vigurs Sutton McFadden McCall has sprung a few surprises the last few weeks though, that 3-5-2 against St Johnstone was a disaster. Hopefully it's the above team, and hopefully Anier will be fit enough to make the bench. Both teams are stronger than when we last met, more so us probably. I think it'll be a tough game, but I'd be slightly disappointed if we didn't win. Changed days! If Ainsworth, Faddy and Vigurs are in the mood, then we will create a load of chances...and that man Sutton will take at least one! Ainsworth's pace makes him a nightmare, and he has an end product. Vigurs left foot is a wand, he doesn't need pace to get to the by-line when he can put in pin-point crosses from deep. Faddy's link-up play is class and he will be a real handful for both the Hibees centre backs and holding midfielders. 3-1 Motherwell. Sutton with two and one from Faddy.
  8. Null vote from me. Lasley is normally the default choice if there's no stand out, but even he was poor. Ainsworth beat his man a couple of times when he came on and tried to make things happen at least. I'd say he was our best player but he was still far from good.
  9. Just seen on Twitter Craig Reid (RB who was on trial during the summer) has signed. Surely he's not eligible for tonight?
  10. This is a really big game for United. They really need all 3 points if they hope to catch us or Aberdeen. Think there will also be a big home crowd and a good atmosphere with some ticket offers for their fans to take advantage of. Will be a tough one! With a fully fit squad I'd have been happy with a point. I'd be absolutely delighted if we were to get one now. Hopefully some of the youngsters and fringe players take their opportunities to impress
  11. You can't get too much like that top. Probably my favourite ever away shirt
  12. Apart from Kerr being out, we're not really any worse off than we were against the Dons last time out. Just disappointing we haven't been able to make use of the three week lay-off. Although I'm sure we've done all we could. Even if every 'doubt' missed out, our team would probably look something like this: Neilson Carswell Murray Hutchinson Hammell Ainsworth Lawson Lasley ZFA Anier Sutty/Faddy Not terrible considering we could in theory have 8 players missing. In saying that, I'd love to see what our bench would look like if that were the case!!
  13. Him spending the night in the cells after the player of the year award ceremony was something else. I actually laughed out loud when I saw the news! Outstanding!
  14. I've actually been trying to compliment him and 'big him up' so to speak. It's came across as a sort of back handed compliment I must admit Higdon = good Should hopefully settle the matter!
  15. He did absolutely spectacularly for us, I agree. He's one of my favourite players from the last decade, I thought he was brilliant. What I meant, however, was he's not actually a particularly spectacular player, talent-wise. We've had a lot more talented players over the last few years than him, but probably none have been near as effective. I think he'd be effective in pretty much any league, without being half as talented as some of the other players there. The big man's now splitting the fans over just how spectacular he was
  16. In fairness, I think with Higdon's style of play and physicality he'd do decent playing for anybody, anywhere, without ever being absolutely spectacular.
  17. I had to do that after the Nancy home game!! Seeing the score hardly helped the hangover either... Nancy away was a bad one. Smith's penalty save is just about all I can remember. My maw was watching the game on the telly back home when the camera panned round to the Motherwell fans, just as i was walking/falling down the stairs, I was 17 at the time and she was not best pleased! Went back into town after the game for a good few drinks. Got split up from my mate, who i was sharing a room with, and ended getting a taxi back to my motel (which was a good wee bit outside the town) with some random 'Well fan. Once i got dropped off I realised that I didn't have the key for the room. Since it was a Motel there wasn't a reception/lobby that i could wait in or get another key from. I was unable to phone my mate for whatever reason so decided to go for a wander back towards town to get him. After staggering back for a while I must've got tired and decided that it was time for a sleep. Anyway, I woke up at the side of a dual carriageway, with the sun coming up, with a phone call from my mate wondering where the fuck i was. Beautiful. Ran back to the room, then we both fell into the deepest sleeps imaginable, slept through our alarms, and missed our train to Paris. We somehow managed to make it onto the next one without getting our tickets checked, but we ended up missing our train to London. Again, thankfully, the next train through the tunnel wasn't full and the woman just changed our tickets for that one! Our bus up to Glasgow wasn't till that night so we didn't have to worry about missing that. Having to spend the full day kicking about London, hungover to fuck was absolutely brutal. We ended up going on one of the bus tours to kill time and it was the least enjoyable experience of my life!! Fuck drink, fuck France and fuck London
  18. They'll be back where they belong next year
  19. I hadn't joined the 'Well Society up until now due to a lack of funds/stable income etc. Now that I have a secure job, coupled with the fact I've moved up North and been unable to attend half as many home games and put as much money into the club, I feel as though I definitely should. Feeling guilty almost! Funnily enough, I was actually on the Society website just yesterday, when I was at work, looking at the packages and payment options before i got the email. Glad i was too busy to do anything about it because this £10 per month idea is ideal. I'd be quite happy to pay this £10 per month until I'm dead. Considering I'm only 22, I'd like to think I'll live long enough to reach the Amber membership in 500 months (41 years & 8 months) time. Unfortunately I don't think medical advancements will enable me to reach the 1886 membership in 2500 months (208 years & 4 months) time. In saying that, I'll hopefully be able to afford to jump up a membership, without having to do it this way, in the future. Excellent move by the Society, hopefully they promote/advertise it appropriately and it sees an increase in member and an upgrade in memberships
  20. Has he not been helping out coaching-wise with someone? When he's not on Sportscene, that is. Sure he is/was helping Ian Murray at Dumbarton, actually. The fact he's not taken up a player-coach role with them would suggests he's still not fit, or that he's even possibly done as a player. Sad, as he was world class when he was at his peak and fit.
  21. Cracking thread for a Monday. Some really great memories. Thanks guys
  22. Also, I seem to recall several thousand having no problems making last minute arrangements to go to a game in a certain North-Eastern French city back in 2008. And on a Thursday night, bechrist!
  23. Personally I don't have much of a problem with the idea of Friday night football. I've actually quite enjoyed the few games I've been to in fact. That's been down to a few factors: - I don't work late on Friday - It's only home games we've had so far I think? Minimal travel etc. - Good atmosphere - Free's up the rest of the weekend - You can get a bevvy and go straight out after - I don't have a ST so I can't get shafted There are plenty of factors which would lead me (and others) to dislike it: - If it's a trek to get to (Aberdeen, Inverness, Dundee away etc.) then I, and many others, won't manage in time - If they're making last minute changes to away games (like this United game) then It's fucking with folks plans/arrangements - If it's a home game and you're an ST holder with weekends off and you work Friday nights then It's just plain out of order If the SPFL are wanting to properly pursue this then the games need to be arranged well in advance and the teams can't be situated far away either. We do play plenty of midweek games, whether pre-arranged or re-arranged, throughout the course of the season anyway. Surely a Friday night is more agreeable than a Tuesday/Wednesday night?
