Gannon Sacked! Motherwell Part Company with Manager
wishaestevie replied to steelman1991's topic in Club Chat
The Telegraph fleshing things out a bit more with a few interesting comments, training to-day being described as 'upbeat'. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/...Motherwell.html -
f**k,f**k,f**k,f**k,f**k,f**k,f**k,f**k,f**k, 3-1

I was at this one and it was a great night, right behind the goals ..Dougie, he stoops to conquer was the line for the night. We got a taxi back to the Horseshoe and had the taxi driver wouldn't believe us until it came on the radio.. Kirkie, Mcgrillen and 100,000 for Eddie May

I live in Edinburgh but usually end up going to games on my tod ,or with Hibbees, as well. Its a long way from Lanarkshire for the part timers. If I am going to Easter road then Broughton Street has many a fine boozer, even some gay ones for the c.c. blooms guys. I won't be going to the game on Saturday as I'm off to a 'day out' in Wishaw, a short day out obviously.

BBC reports that Sone Aluko is out injured for tomorrows game...its getting better.

yes, 2-2

Might need a tin hat for that statement. For my tuppence worth, I've only seen 5 games this season but I tend to be a bit worried when Craigan is in the starting line-up as it doesn't seem to work when he is. I think its important that Hammell is fit and we don't have to shift someone out to replace him. I like Craigan

Disappointed by the result tonight but I expected it would be a difficult game. Looking forward to hearing reports from those who attended , can't rely on Chick F****** Young. We appeared to have a more defensive line up but still lost three. I'm also curious about Gannons comments on players distracting other players and if anyone can shed some light on it, that would be appreciated. I was really looking forward to a semi at least

Will have to check the details but I am around late 60's start of the 70's and I think we beat possibly Morton by 3 or 4 nil..used to enjoy the crisps and offisheeal spearmint chewing gum

This is a bit of a gimme but Joe Wark had a newsagents in Coltness a few years ago so that was obviously where I used to go for my fags and paper in the morning. Was a bit in awe to start off with but he's an absolute gent and happy to chat away. Always went out of his way to wave and say hello on his way past when he seen you in the street.

This Is A It Of Hope But If We Get To The Cis Semis Where Would We Play

Ice Rink ? Edit : beaten to it by Haggischomper -
Melv, Fraz, I think we are actually in broad agreement. I posted in response to the general thrust of this thread (and others ) which was the negativity of the East Stand crowd at times when things aren't going well ( and when things are going well). I doubt if you (Melv and Fraz)were responsible for all the negative comments I heard on Saturday , there were lots of people sitting behind me. I was just disappointed by the attitude of some ,especially one guy complaining about the crowd applauding a player trying something that didn't work out. If you don't encourage players to try something , even if they fail, they'll stop trying To sum up, I do think you can go to the footie and talk drivel to your mates , MAYBE NOT SO LOUDLY THOUGH, and if you are always in section 2 , I can avoid it. I may bring some people down for a laugh at the 'banter' , but generally I'll avoid it.

I went to sit there for the second half yesterday and they just talk pish loudly and constantly ..Forbes isnae trying since he got his contract, that Moutakhil is f****g brutal and they 'analyse' every move , pass , shot, tackle, pie, anything . They just love the sound of their own voices..will give them a miss next game

My favourite example of this is a certain Coisty at Fir Park taking dogs abuse from the East Stand for being a fat b****rd for the whole game. He bangs in a goal and runs back up the park 'waving' to the east stand , i.e. out of sight of the ref he runs along flivking the v's. Some people laugh, some people go apoplectic and demand the polis do 'something' and threaten to write to the SFA etc... I think if your dishing it out, you should be able to take it on the chin and not be chucking things on to the pitch and getting the club in soapy bubble. Its part of the fun. I wasn't at the game so don't know how provocative the wee fella was being. If it was bad then the ref and observer will mention it in their report but the missile incident will probably get him off the hook... Edit: On reading the other posts, the radio commentary gave the impression that he was definitely booked for his 'celebrations' but they were obviously wrong.

Apologies again , it was a 'ten pint and nae tea' post. Gannon was born in London but moved to Ireland whe he was five and considers himself Irish
-
Agreed, should not have used the word ..apologies to the thread
-
Got to state the obvious, but we have an Irish manager and any chants about the famine etc.. by bigotted guys like you will so fucking embarrasing it will be obvious how bigotted you fucking pricks are....calling someone a f*******n is s tricky kind of thing

I think what Claret&Amber was getting at was 'rattlers' is a derogatory term from some about Catholics rather than just Sellic fans and there are plenty of Catholics in the Well support. The Motherwell support is broad church and we should perhaps be careful who we are trying to offend.
-
Cheers Steve, thought it had moved for some reason..

Easy question on tickets..where at Fir Park is the ticket office these days ? None of my local mates are going the game and I don't fancy the big slow queue at Airdre cheers

This is really sad news, hope he's at least comfortable. He is one of my first 'favourite' Well players I can remember as a a nipper along with Billy Campbell , outside left and outside right or wingers as they are called now. Some info on him at the link below. http://www.motherwellnet.co.uk/pa/h/heron.html

I remember going to the Craven Cottage game for this tie. 1-1 and we scored a late equaliser. There was an organised march in London by the Steel workers union who paid for chartered trains down from Motherwell and it was arranged for the day of the game . Decent crowd for the Well.

Hi , I've heard it reported a few times to-day that Hughes is in talks with Hearts who probably could afford the wages he is after. Shouldn't be allowed given they are 30 odd mill in debt , but hey ho

This is a bit of long shot but does anyone know of a pub in Edinburgh, somebodies local , who would be showing the game, Sports Bar or summit..?
