It will be great news if Faddy and McManus sign, but I think the most significant signings could be the players targeted to give us the width and pace we had last year with Humph and Ojamaa. We get that right and it could be an amazing season.

I was told this morning by someone who had spoken to Faddy two weeks ago, that he had not been offered a contract. Don't know if that has changed since then, or if we are waiting to see how much we have left to offer him. I would hate to think we are not going to offer him anything.

No we will not score in Valencia! What we need is some kind benefactor like John Boyle or similar, who can see offering Faddy 5k a week for a years contract, would be a shrewd investment, if they had a clause that let Faddy go at the Christmas window. They get any money from that transfer, which covers their outlay. Win win situation. We get Faddy for six months to help us consolidate in the top six, and he gets his money back probably with interest. Is there any entrepenuer reading this?

OK. I'm going to bring it up again, but I believe Motherwell should speculate by offering James McFadden a years contract at a nominal sum, say £1k per week. With a clause in it that if he shows he has what it takes for an english club to come in for him at Christmas, he can move on for a nominal sum, say £200k at that time. I think that having him in our squad would create extra interest in season tickets and could be more than self financing, especially if he could produce anywhere near what he did in the past, and may even be that little extra push that get's us further in Europe than we might expect. Any thoughts.
