Steve there's a big difference in coming on for half an hour in a cup tie when your 5 or 6 goals to the good than starting in the spl when it's about £90k per league placing. There's a reason he hasn't featured much in the spl this season. He was 5th choice centre midfielder when Hughes was here (rightly or wrongly) I rate carswell and is one to look out for in the future but I think he could benefit with half a seasons loan in the first division first. It's a big decision for McCall on Wednesday as it has been proved that the team that started the last few games is easily our best starting eleven. In Stuart we trust.

There seems to be general consensus that carswell should come straight in to the team on wednesday. Has anyone actually watched him this season? I'm all for the progression of youths into the first team but after watching him in a few bounce / reserve games this season I'm not convinced he's ready. McCall seems to trust hately and law in that position before him and personally I would too.

Higdons hold up and link up play tonight was shit hot. I had written him off after a piss poor game on Saturday and if I'm being honest wasnt impressed in his performance the first 15mina either. But I thought he came on to a right good game thereafter. Three times in a 15 minute spell he protected the ball on his chest then played a wonderful defence splitting pass inside Murray (which was the play every time) to humphre who put a few decent crosses in which no-one got on the end of. There were a few empty heads around me screaming at higdon for not getting on the end of the move. If higdon starts a move on the halfway line with a through ball to the quickest player in the league - how the fuck is he meant to get on the end of his cross. Dont believe the BBC!! I fortunately seen the 2nd half and we basically allowed Aalesund to have all the ball. We were under a fair bit of pressure by the end of the game without looking likely to concede. They had at least 60% of possession. There is a lot of optimism after tonights results and after a 1-1 draw away there maybe its justified. However, there are enough warning signs from tonight performances to be worried about the return leg eg the fact that the Aalesund midfielders were basically pulling the strings for the final half hour of the game. We looked very lively though with Murphy and McHugh upfront the 2nd half and im sure Brown, having seen the norwegian defenders struggling with pace, would have noticed a possible weak link. One thing is for sure the game is only half won. We will need to be very professional to complete the job next week

Totally agree. Am i mistaken or did Sieb not have a howlin' end to the season either the year we finished 2nd or 3rd? I seem to recall him having a holocaust in the last four games of the season. One particular missed cross ball at the edge of our box costing us the points springs to mind (either against Dundee Utd or St Johnstone). In saying that it is over 15 years ago and my memory is not what it should be.
