I am beginning to get pissed off with all this European nonsense now, every season for the last few years the team plays well, gets results and secures European qualification and we all look forward to the draw. Then the usual happens and we dont turn up and get fecked out at the first hurdle. Thats our last 7 european games, Odense, Pana, Levante, and the 1st against Krasnodar we have shipped 13 goals and scored just 1, we just don't seem to be able to play in Europe. I know that we have been up against much better sides with huge budgets, but we never seem to make any progress. When we qualified for the Uefa cup and played Nancy in 2008 Europe was a huge boost to the club, our 1st taste of it in 12 years, and most well fans were happy just to Qualify. Now recently we are qualifying every year and i think we need to be progressing, just getting there is not enough now, we need to be aiming for the group stages.

ZFA for me, thought he was outstanding, the only well player who looked a threat. He will do well this season.
-
i know what you mean, would like to think no decent wellfan would use a ticket they found, hope he sees the game
-
And 2 of them sit in the same seat if the Cooper is a sell out...hope they are close

SMC stating that we have learned from our mistakes and are going to be more careful tonight, i hope its true, we always seem vulnerable to a quick counter attack. http://www.heraldscotland.com/sport/football/mccall-we-have-learned-from-our-mistakes-and-will-be-more-careful.21747993

Not paying attention it seems, just read the 2013-14 fixtures thread .

Just been looking on the ESPN / BT sport site and our home game against Kilmarnock onn 31st August is being shown live with a 17:30 kick off http://sport.bt.com/sportfootball/football/scottishfootball/bt-sports-spfl-picks-for-august-at-a-glance-S11363819562290 Looks like the SPFL premiership games are geting the shit TV slots again.

This is there 1st European game, they are seeded because of the good results other Russian sides have had in recent years, so they take the high country co-efficient. Its the same reason Swansea are seeded for Q3. I dont see enough Russian league games to judge the standard, but just because they are paying millions for players does not necessarily mean those players are any good. We will need to hit the ground running tomorrow night and be at our best, keeping a clean sheet and taking a lead to Russia to build on would be a great result.

Never joined the well society and at the moment have no plans to do so. Between my season ticket (POD), food and drink on match days, shop purchases etc i am probably contributing approx £600 a year to the club, and lots of others do the same and consider it a big enough investment. As it stands i am not convinced of the merits of the WS. But that may change in the future.

UEFA wont bother their arse...both the champions and europa leagues are set up to benefit the big sides from the main European nations. Every year the rich teams get even more money and the rest get the scraps from the table. I cant see it changing any time soon.
-
I dont think Nielsen was signed as back up for Hollis, he will be the 1st choice going forward. After Thursday when the real ganes start is the time to judge them.
-
No we wont, and StJ wont be either if they get through. In our case a lot of the seeded teams will need to get knocked out this round (q3) for us to move up, not impossible but unlikely
-
Kris Boyd...we cant afford the luxury of carrying a lazy fud like him in the team..so no thanks from me on that one.

UEFA need to be looking at the whole EL and CL qualifying set up. Getting entry to the Champions or Europa league should be the reward for a successful season, a prize / bonus for the clubs and fans involved. We have the situation now where Motherwell,s participation might cost the club money, which is wrong. Not only the club but the fans suffer as well, how many will make the trip to Russia, not a lot. Its time it was sorted, start thinking about all member clubs not just the top sides from the big nations.

1-1 McHugh 83 mins

£1335 FFS i could have 2 weeks in Florida for that money..

No just blatant profiteering, 12K crowd probably made them in excess of 500 K in gate receipts alone, add merchandise, catering and its a tidy sum. Even taking their costs into acount, Madrids fees etc they are still making a healthy profit., but the game was a sell out so the bournemouth fans must be happy with it.

Running a bus or driving to these places sounds like a good idea when you are pished, only 48 hrs according to Google maps, straight road etc, nae bother but you would need to be Feckin mental to attempt it Remember the bus to Katowice in 91 for Motherwells first European adventure, 3 days to get there 10 mins before the Final whistle !!!
-
Got to agree with all of that..Uefa opened up the tournament to include nation not even in Europe, ie Georgia,Israel ffs in the pursuit of more cash, tv deals etc. Its nonsense that teams like Motherwell are being financially challenged just to get to a game. Back in May when we tied up second place in the SPL every Motherwell fan was excited at the prospect of another European adventure..now after the boot in the baws that was the draw probably only a dozen will get there (decorator and his camera crew).. Is that a fitting reward for runners up spot, i think not.

Its the team i have supported for over 40 years in a home European match, if it was £40 a ticket i would be there. This may be one of those great european nights and a fantastic performance to hopefully get the tie won before the away leg, is it worth missing it for the sake of £5 or £6 more than a bog standard boring SPL game..i think not.
-
That wont please Decorator..his pictures will be ruined.
-
unless they invest some serious money which they dont have the players they have may well get them to the SPL but thats all. They wont be back challenging for titles any time soon. They are welcome to Hateley we dont need him anymore
-
I know its early days but has anybody heard if the away leg is being televised. Might be a chance for Motherwell to make some cash and organise a live feed to the cooper suite.
-
Livescore given goal to Jack Smith..Anier might be worth a punt
-
thats how i feel as well..but they were the lowest ranked of the 6 seeds, they may be full of Brazillians but even they have shit players..the good ones are playing in Spain and Italy. We will pump them..looking forward to Q4..
