Definitely next season, i think we are going to see the VAT increase as well as any increase the Club makes going on to the season book prices and individual match tickets. As well as that Pies, programs, Bovril etc will all go up as well, so much for trying to encourage fans to come back to games
-
If He does go it will be a certainty that he will score a couple against us when we play them up there in a few weeks, thats the way our luck goes. Wonder what the pre match odds on him as first goal scorer are, Jenno will know
-
Fair point, its everyones right to choose but steelmen or dossers we all support the same team. mon the well

Do any of the Dosser clan really want to be describing themselves as workshy, benefit cheating, rough sleeping hobo's as that's what the term means. dosser2n 1. Is that a description of yourself as a dosser, or did you mean to add something meaningful to it. Steelmen rule

The number of good stands we have is irrelevant, the problem is that the site is not suited for a modern football stadium, and there is little or no scope for redevelopment. It would be a wast of money trying to patch up the East and POD stands, the more cost effective option is to relocate to a new purpose built stadium. The club could then get a stadium that was up to 21st century standards, good transport links, car parking etc, as well as being able to be used on non match days for various other business activities to bring in extra money. Look at the new grounds that have been built in recent years and learn from the mistakes made, ie not filling the corners in and we could have a 10k seat stradium to be proud of. So sell FP and get moving to a new home, maybe the " Ravenscraig Arena"

Good luck Stuart for the rest of the season, i will be right behind you and the team.

Now that we have a new manager in place to hopefully stabilise the team, and maybe bring in a few loan signings in January, what do people think would be a good season for Motherwell ? 1. we still have a good chance of finishing 4th, and another possible Euro adventure. 2. A decent run in the Scottish cup, another semi-final at least would be nice. 3. McCall getting the team playing with a bit of committment and passion, something which has been lacking in recent weeks. 4. Keeping the core of the team we have now, and trying to get some of the young players, ie Forbes, McHugh, Hutchison, Page etc to realise some of the potential they have. Any other thoughts ??

Just ignore my last post just realised its pish
-
I thought there was 1 Champions league place, and 3 Europa league places this year, (2 for league position and 1 for cup winners) ?
-
It does not matter if he was 1st choice or 10th choice, he is prepared to take the job and give it a go, so all the well fans should get right behind him to try to get the season back on track. Given the run Hearts are on i think that they have all but secured 3rd place, but we can still finish 4th, and another European adventure. If McCall can achieve that then he will have done well. Onwards and upwards, bring on the Accies.
-
Why do people persist in using Dossers as a nickname for motherwell, we have always been known as the Steelmen and IMHO always will be, this dossers stuff is pish.

Its the son of satan himself, McGhee is on his way back
-
He has been in the game for a long time, and had limited early sucess as a player and manager at Bradford. He knows the lower leagues and whats on offer. He is currently scouting for Norwich so he attends a lot of games and watches lots of players, so presumeably he has an eye for a decent one. I think he is worth a punt by Boyle
-
We need somone in ASAP so why not McCall, he was a reasonably high profile player in his day so he will get the respect of the younger players, used to working with little or no money, alleged good contacts in the game. We should judge the new manager at the end of the season, not now
-
Why do you think that ? He has good experience and contacts, he might be just what we need
-
We could develop the young talent in the ways of the dark side, they would go back highly skilled in drinking, chasing women, questionable gambling practices, religious bigotry and leaving your kids in freezing motors. As for the football they would quickly revert to the scottish level.

I am not that old meant to type McFadden but fingers not working at the same speed as brain
-
+ 1 Its Exactly the same for me, age, away trips in Europe, and no goals to enjoy until Odense i dont think i cried though
-
If you add in McFadyen, Pearson, Clarkson, and even Quinn we have been feeding other clubs our best players for years
-
Does it really matter who we get as the new manager, you could find a fault with every single applicant for the job, and judging by the responses on this thread most of them have been slated in one form or another. The club needs stabillity, and organisation, the new manager needs to develop the resources we have and forget about having any cash to spend, in that respect he will be no different from the majority of the other SPL clubs. I really think that John Boyle should be going for a safe pair of hands midway through a season, and forget about trying to appoint a "surprise candidate" or unearth the next Jose Mourhino. Would it really be so bad to get A jimmy Calderwood, John Hughes, Gus McPherson or even the "son of Satan " himself McGhee. Their previous records are irrelevant, its how they develop the team and where we finish up at the end of the season that counts. If we can have another good season finishing top 6, and maybe challenging for 3rd or 4th and a European place, then we can move forward from there, thats when the new man will be judged. I would rather have someone in the job who wants it and will put in the hard work and stay long term rather than a manager who's only qualification is their name on the CV and who will jump ship the next time a bigger job comes up. IMHO get the 2 jimmy's in and lets start stabilising the team and getting back to winning ways.

I agree that untill we fill all of the 3 home stands then we will have to put up with the old firm fans in the POD stand but it is not designed with crowd segregation in mind, ie shared toilets, catering points. I know the majority of fans on both sides will mix and cause no trouble but it only takes 1 or 2 morons to start something that could quickly escalate to a serious incident. On Sunday we had to suffer 90 mins of shite from 1 ar*ehole behind us singing FTP, the sash, Billy boys, rule britannia, up the UVF, and some bizarre little ditty about German bonbers and the RAF !!! Despite numerous complaints to stewards they done nothing, so by the end of the game tempers were frayed, the whole thing is a potential disaster. Away teams should get the away stand only, its time the club started to respect its season ticket holders and core support a bit more,
-
We were well beaten by a Rangers team who looked like they could score every time they went up the park, our defence was a shambles, especially both full backs, Hammell and the bomb scare that is Saunders We need to get a manager in ASAP and get some shape and organisation into the team, Gordon Young is well out of his depth. I think the players were trying but against a defence as solid and organised as Rangers they got no chance. We missed Steve "betfred" Jennings in Midfield, i would have brought in Fitzpatrick and left Hatley at right back, instead of Saunders.
-
I was asking the alleged steward why they had taped off the end of the section and then proceeded to do Feck all when all the Rangers fans just stepped over it. I asked him why they were not doing what they were paid to do and keep the fans apart. To be fair to the guy he said it was just about impossible to do as there were only 2 of them allocated to that area !!! The Rangers fans should not be in the POD stand at all, tempers were being raised at the catering points and toilets, its a recepie for disaster, and as for talking or complaining to stewards its a waste of time they are not interested.

I have been going to Fir park for nearly 40 years and while it has improved dramatically in that time it really is time for the club to consider moving to a new stadium. The POD stand was good for the 1960's but not today, toilets poor, catering points poor, seats and legroom dire, etc. The east stand is terracing with seats, its a shite hole, . The club should be moving to a new purpose built stadium on the Ravenscraig site, not one of these 4 stand, no corners grounds but a proper footie stadium, oval, close to the pitch, 10,000 seats, plenty of car parking etc, Livingston's Almondvale is a good example, or the reebok on a much smaller scale. As for all the history, sentiment etc, nobody can take that away, but you would still be supporting the team and making new memories, European nights, cup games etc. I am sure if you asked all of the fans from St Mirren, hamilton, Airdrie, Bolton, Arsenal or any other team who has moved to a new stadium if they preferred the old one the answer would be no. The amount of money spent trying to keep Fir park open and in good condition would be better spent on a new stadium which would require less maintenance, and provide more income to spend on the team.
