We were well beaten by a Rangers team who looked like they could score every time they went up the park, our defence was a shambles, especially both full backs, Hammell and the bomb scare that is Saunders We need to get a manager in ASAP and get some shape and organisation into the team, Gordon Young is well out of his depth. I think the players were trying but against a defence as solid and organised as Rangers they got no chance. We missed Steve "betfred" Jennings in Midfield, i would have brought in Fitzpatrick and left Hatley at right back, instead of Saunders.

I was asking the alleged steward why they had taped off the end of the section and then proceeded to do Feck all when all the Rangers fans just stepped over it. I asked him why they were not doing what they were paid to do and keep the fans apart. To be fair to the guy he said it was just about impossible to do as there were only 2 of them allocated to that area !!! The Rangers fans should not be in the POD stand at all, tempers were being raised at the catering points and toilets, its a recepie for disaster, and as for talking or complaining to stewards its a waste of time they are not interested.

I have been going to Fir park for nearly 40 years and while it has improved dramatically in that time it really is time for the club to consider moving to a new stadium. The POD stand was good for the 1960's but not today, toilets poor, catering points poor, seats and legroom dire, etc. The east stand is terracing with seats, its a shite hole, . The club should be moving to a new purpose built stadium on the Ravenscraig site, not one of these 4 stand, no corners grounds but a proper footie stadium, oval, close to the pitch, 10,000 seats, plenty of car parking etc, Livingston's Almondvale is a good example, or the reebok on a much smaller scale. As for all the history, sentiment etc, nobody can take that away, but you would still be supporting the team and making new memories, European nights, cup games etc. I am sure if you asked all of the fans from St Mirren, hamilton, Airdrie, Bolton, Arsenal or any other team who has moved to a new stadium if they preferred the old one the answer would be no. The amount of money spent trying to keep Fir park open and in good condition would be better spent on a new stadium which would require less maintenance, and provide more income to spend on the team.

Gonny just wrap the Tomorrow pish today please

Maybe JB is holding off announcing the new manager and is waiting for George Burley to be available http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/...ips-owners.html

I guess it must be the cash on offer then thats blocking the deal, assuming its all true and he was actually offered the job
-
If you are out of work is any offer not a good one ? unemployment is not the best position to start barganing from.
-
If he turned it down he obviously want a longer deal or more money, if he does not want the job why apply in the first place
-
Allegedly the Hamilton pitch is frozen as the undersoil heating is broken and it cant be fixed because the pitch is frozen you could not make it up. Motherwell got slaughtered last season for the state of the pitch and problems with the pitch heating, so why no SFA investigation this time.
-
I dont think it's confirmed, i guess Leroy does not want Fenlon to get the Job
-
I think it will be him as well, will Keegan, Murphy and Molloy be coming back If it is Fenlon he might do a turn for us, you cant judge a person by his previous record.

We can re-organise the leagues as much as we like but the basic product will still be crap. Turning the SPL into 2 leagues of 10 wont make it any more competetive, the old firm will still be the only 2 teams who will ever win the title. The battle for the european slots will still be between the sides fighting for them now, ie Hearts, Motherwell, Dundee untd, with maybe a Hibs or Kilmarnock if they have a good season, the rest will be relegation candidates. We need to start by re-organising the structure of the game ie 1 governing body with people in charge who are experienced at running a multi million pound business, much improved facillities for training at all levels, proper coaching and developing young players, etc. If we are going to change the league structure then make it a proper pyramid set up as they have in England, this gives clubs like Arthurlie, pollock, Edinburgh city etc the chance of league football, and it makes league clubs who constantly finish bottom of Div 3, ie Clyde, Elgin, montrose etc try to improve and retain their league status.
-
Does that mean we will get nothing first half ?
-
Totally agree so far it seems we have had every out of work manager in the world linked with the job. The new man will be in place for christmas, so relax it will be an easy start for him, back to back old firm games

There are many reasons why attendances are falling, not just at Motherwell but at every club. In my opinion i think the main ones are 1. Tickets cost too much 2. Increased TV coverage (do i spend £30 or £40 to go to a game, ticket, travel, food etc or sit at home and watch on TV) if you are on a budget its a no brainer. I dont think the product on offer has any effect, scottish football has always been at this standard, we only percieve it to be poor as we are now able to compare it against games from almost every league in the world on TV. One of the earlier posts on this thread compared the players we have now for motherwell against the players from say 15 years ago, i think we have a better standard now. Motherwell have always been a poorly supported club, i am sure that if some stats geek analysed the figures over the years i would be surprised if our season average was much above 5000. Even if you go back to the large crowds of the 1920's and 30's what was there to spend your cash on then compared to now. As long as the club budgets for the smaller crowds and lives within its means we will be ok, we have tried all the "lets spend and try to be the big club" scenario and it nearly put us out of business. We are a small club with a small average gate, but given the choice of supporting motherwell or a Barcelona, or Man Untd, its Fir park every time.

+ 1 for McCall
-
-
Given a choice between McCall and Hughes, its a no brainer just like Yogi. it would be mcCall every time, i think he would do well with us.
-
How much did UEFA fine Ramos and Alonso for getting themselves sent off in the champions league the other week ? Jennings might need all the bookies winnings for the fine
-
I have no doubt that john Boyle listened to sensible legal advice before agreeing to drop the complaint, and obviously this advice was that the club did not have a good enough case, so we are not being shafted we are retaining some dignity for the club. The best response we can give to Aberdeen is to pump them on Saturday that will have a much greater effect on them and that 2 faced auld w**K brown, than any legal action.
-
Totally agree taking this to the SPL is unecesarry bullshit, it would be weeks of arguments with no prospect of anything happening at the end, the two of them never had a contract end of. Brown and Knox are gone the club are over it, moving on and concentrating on finding a new manager and getting a bit of stabillity to the team, so the rest of us should get over it as well as its getting boring now.
-
I hope its not the team needs match practice and the sooner we pump them the better, what we dont want is for the game to be off and held over to the new year when they may be in better shape and harder to beat

If McGhee is willing to take the job on its merits and set about developing and building a team and forgetting about all the historical shite then he may be good for the club. The 1st time the well job was only a temp thing for him as he actually thought he was in with a chance of the Celtic gig. Maybe now with no distractions he may prove to be a good appointment. His record as a manager if you forget the Aberdeen fiasco is actually not too bad, but John Boyle will need to back him with some money to keep some of the experienced players we have and maybe get in another 1 or 2. There is a good core of promising young players at the club, so there is the potential to build a decent team if someone is up for the challenge.
-
I would not be too bothered either, we played some good football in his 1st season
-
John Boyle is allegedly still a fan of the mcGhee/leitch combination so it would not surprise me if the 2 of them came back, but given all thats gone on since he left i dont think it will happen.
