  1. I cant believe how many people seem to think that standing at games is a good idea. I am old enough to remember some of the Sh**e holes i used to go to to see motherwell, some of the grounds were downright dangerous. Does anyone really want to go back to those conditions ? If Hillsborough had never happened then we would still be turning up to Fir Park to stand on the Red ash terracing, old railway sleepers holding it up, brick enclosures with no roof as a toilet, etc but still paying todays prices. Lets be honest about the atmosphere at Fir Park, its no different to any other ground in Scotland or England for that matter, listen to the crowds at Old Trafford , Stamford bridge, Anfield, or Ibrox or parkhead and the vast majority of the time its all very subdued. The large crowds only make it sound a lot better. Scottish football fans don't have a great tradition of creating hostile environments at matches ( we used to specialise in creating hostile atmospheres out side grounds ) on the scale of the Greek, Italian or Turkish clubs fans. So trying to suggest that everyone standing and singing etc to create a better atmosphere would have helped the team last night is nonsense. We were beaten because we are lightweight up front and dont take chances.
  2. We dont want to get back to the days of spending more than we can afford on past their best players. We need to build a team and i think that given some time CB and AK will deliver a good side. That said there needs to be some investment in the team, a few well placed experienced players to back up young team ie Murphy, Forbes, Saunders, McHugh, etc. If we can get some good loan deals or unearth some good talent from lower leagues, ie Randolph then we will do ok. I have to agree though that if we still had , Coke, JOB, Jutkewitz, etc then we would have gone through last night.
  3. Brown and Knox have been great for motherwell, great bit of business by john Boyle getting them onboard. They are respected by the press, fellow managers and coaches not just in Scotland but in Europe as well, they get respect from the dressing room so all told it can only be good for the club. We will make the leap forward in Europe one day, hopefully before i am too old to enjoy the trip I hope we can now build on the Euro campaign this year and have another good season, and another shot at the Europa league next year.
  4. I have never heard so much shite in my life, " no singing or passion from the POD stand " had nothing to do with the result last night. We are out because we could not convert loads of good chances against an average team, and missing penalties against 9 men !! Jumping up and down and acting like a dick wont help the team, i am a season ticket holder in the POD stand and there is no lack of passion at any game, so stop making ridiculous posts blaming other well fans for the result last night.
  5. Judging by most of the posts on this topic, 50% of the Well fans must stay in all night watching Gok Wan on telly What a load of Crap, does it matter what you wear to the footie, all that counts is that you are supporting the team. Although if all the well fans looked like and wore colours like Rosie from Corrie then supporting the Well would be great
  6. Football is expensive to follow and not everyone can afford to go to matches but i still think a season book at Fir park is a good deal. If you go to every home game then you are actually saving money buying one. You only need to look at the ticket prices in England and at Celtic and rangers to appreciate how reasonable the prices at Motherwell are. Granted the product on offer is not as good but the simple fact is that sucess costs more. If the Well do the business tonight and get through to the group stages then you can be certain that the prices will go up, big name team at Fir park, more demand for tickets etc etc.
  7. Has anyone managed to locate an Off sales selling cheap drink in Odense, its nearly 2 hrs on the train back to copenhaged
  8. Its usually only open on Sat and Sunday mornings on Matchdays so you might be struggling. Plus most of the staff will be away in Denmark, so it might be closed till Monday
