  1. Yes investment in developing our own players is great in principle but it's also a risky strategy as from an academy squad of say 15 you might only get 1 maybe 2 that will step up to the 1st team. You can't guarantee a Johnson, Miller or Turnbull every year so no saleable assets are a distinct possibility.
  2. Pish, the big English Premiership clubs like Arsenal are ruthless in situations like this they have no problem with recalling a player then immediately sending him out on loan elsewhere. You can guarantee if Biereth is off to Sheffield Wednesday as mentioned they will be paying more if not all of his wage than we did so a financial benefit to Arsenal who don't give a feck about the effect recalling the player has on other teams. So it would not have matterd if we were 5th as you say and playing well the recall would still have happened.
  3. Ok against my better judgement I'll bite so on that premis you would have opposed the club signing Davie Cooper, Bobby Russell, and Andy Goram, and all the other ex well players who have also played for Rangers over the years. You really do spout shite, but if constant trolling helps you through the day, fill yer boots. 🤦‍♂️
  4. Unless we get another 10 or 15 thousand sign ups to the WS it will never be fit for purpose, it was ill thought out from the start our fan base is too small to sustain effective and true fan ownership.
  5. Decent players, who've been regular starters and played a lot of minutes tend not to be available in January transfer windows, and if they were we probably could not afford them. So as the previous poster said that's our market, players not getting a lot of game time for whatever reason who might be just what we need.
  6. Aye the players mentioned will be gutted earning millions and not kicking a ball then having to move on for another signing bonus and excellent wage, good work if you can get it.
  7. Why is it ridiculous it was an official club press / media release, which stimulated a healthy debate, some loved it probably more hated it but if everyone agreed life would be boring, so I fail to see what people's ego has to do with it. There are no transfer rumours to discuss so the video was a welcome distraction and worthy of comment and debate.
  8. Ok her PA will call and set up the deal, but was that not the videos intended purpose to raise cash, for me it was an embarrassment but time will tell if it pays off so all we can do is wait and see how it plays out.
  9. So if Taylor Swift had saw the video and thought Great idea I'll contact the club and transfer a few million, the board would have said no thanks that's not what we meant Taylor, we were just having a laugh. Aye OK then if geez yer dosh, tongue in cheek or not is not begging for cash what is.
  10. Nah not having that, the Ad company and club board may have thought it was a good laugh, off the wall, tounge in cheek etc but they meant it to be serious ie geez yer dosh. Yes it's went viral, but honestly is a serious investor going to watch that and say you know what I'm giving them a call I want to put millions into that nice wee Scottish club, I think not. Time will tell whether we get any bites and if we do attract a Motherwell Daft/ daft investor to give us their dosh then I'll be the 1st to admit I was wrong but it was all a bit amateurish for me
  11. The chairman saying "it has worked well" for me that speaks volumes of how the club is run if he thinks releasing that video was a good move. Yes millions of views online but only because it's cringeworthy, if it was meant as a professional pitch to attract potential investors it's a serious own goal. He mentions other clubs and individuals putting in millions each year, I very much doubt they are doing that without return, Hearts, Hibs, Aberdeen are much bigger clubs than us, with more potential to make money, what could an investor hope to get in return from a club of Motherwells size. For me nobody is going to keep pumping money into a club year after year to keep it running with no return, especially if they don't have a controlling interest in tbe club.
  12. Well the 1st thing you do is never use the phrase " geez yer dosh" that just sounds unprofessional and a little bit desperate. If you're seeking investors its implied you want new money you don't need to mention it. Any potential investors, will want a return on their money, they wont be happy just continually putting cash into the club and getting nothing back. For me that's the main problem how would any potential investment in the club generate a return and therefore make us an attractive proposition. Will they want a controlling share in the club ,increased crowds, selling shirts with Swift on the back, more TV money, the club winning trophies, extended European runs etc so how much investment would it take to achieve any of those scenarios if they are possible?
  13. I tend to agree but with this board you can't be sure, that said though even if it is only part of a wider plan the video is a shambles, embarrassing and not something a professional football club should be releasing. Yes it's had over 1 million views but only because its so bad all this any publicity is good shite that people spout is nonsense. The only impression you get from it is The club is skint and we need cash it makes us look like a local boys team on their annual fundraising drive, Yes by all means use social media to advertise and seek out investors but do it properly and professionally two words that don't seem to have any relevance at Fir park just now.
  14. These days Dave, online content usually only goes viral because its hilariously funny, embarrassingly bad, complete shit, downright wrong on multiple levels or a combination of all 4. That video ticks all the boxes, that's 2 own goals for Bevis mugabi in a week, Easter Rd and now starring in that shambles. Just when we thought after Derek Weirs statement earlier this week that the governance of the club was not as bad as we thought they produce that shambles a top level football club sanctioning an official press release that ends with," Taylor swift geez yer Dosh" is taking embarrassment to new levels, it really is.
  15. The Wrexham analogy is not a viable comparison, in England the path is there for clubs to aim for the holy grail and riches of the premiership. The sponsorship and TV money on offer down there is light years better than the pittance Scottish clubs Currently get, so taking a club like Wrexham to the premiership or even the championship is a very attractive prospect for anyone throwing money at them.
  16. The last line says it all for me a random wee boy saying "Taylor swift geez yer dosh" ffs an utter embarrassment for a professional football club to commission and sanction something like that
  17. I'm in the hate it half, I know it's meant to be a bit tongue in cheek but for me it's cringeworthy and a bit desperate all you get is the impression that we are skint and need the dosh as the wee boy at the end says. I know the media and comms department has been cut but that video looks like something a local youth team would produce as a fundraiser, not a premiership football team.
  18. The women's team was never mentioned, but if the club thinks that it needs a women's team and all the coaching and support structure that goes with it then fair enough, but it needs to be self funding. If the cost of the women's team, ive heard if true 250k annually mentioned is taken from the current club funds then that places a very significant curb on the playing budget for 1st team and academy. For me the women's team is an indulgence we can't afford, the standard is btutal and the money spent on it annually could be better spent improving the 1st and academy teams.
  19. Nah we’ve had that option he was called Wilkinson it didn't work.
  20. I'm a better option than Obika, another signing who has contributed feck all
  21. Only because the government, football authorities, police etc etc do next to nothing about it and let the both of them spout their bigoted sectarian shite year after year, nothing ever gets done to eradicate it from modern society.
  22. You seem to be the only one getting upset about all this, as I've said nobody gives a feck about the uglies it's comedy gold for fans of every other club.
  23. I'm getting strong vibes of " Rangers are the Big team I support" from some of the posters on here ie it's all the green uglies fault. At the risk of repeating myself they are both culpable for everything that is wrong in Scottish football. I live in hope that they and their moronic supports will both feck off to England or some European super league one day and leave the rest of us to enjoy football again
