Lucky penalties, flukey results aye you could be battered for 89 mins but the only thing that matters is who scores the most goals and if you score more goals than your opponent you deserve to win the game that's how football works, goals get you points, so we deserved the wins against St Mirren and Aberdeen. As for the penalty later in the season with Var we probably would not have been given it, but as we stand the Livi player gave the linesman and Ref a decision to make and we got it, they thought it was a pen nothing to do with luck. It will even itself out over the season as we are bound to be on the wrong side of a decision at some point, so my post was not based on selective memory we have earned and deserved all the points we have so far and if we knew how to see a game out we definitely should have had another 1 from the St J game and at worst 1 from Killie.

In this league those are the games you need to win, Kilmarnock were joint bottom with a -8 goal difference for a reason ie they are honking. When you're 70 mins into a game and winning 1-0 we should be seeing those games out, but as I have said before were are feckin brutal at managing that, we constantly defend too deep and invite teams onto us, that's down to the midfield going missing. As it stands 9 points from 5 games is decent but in all honesty it should have been another 3 today and 1 from the St Johnstone game which would have had us joint top ffs on 13. The Dundee untd game is important now as I expect them to get nothing tomorrow so a win against them at Fir park next week is vital to keep a nice gap early in the season and have us looking up and not down going forward.

Sadly I have to report the death of a former long term BT colleague and lifetime Motherwell fan, John Stevenson, John had been a season ticket holder for a long number of years and sat in the pod alongside myself, Kmcalpin and others for many years. To my knowledge he was never a member of the steelmen online forum but I thought it would be appropriate to mention him on here as a mark of respect for a lifetime well fan, whose company we enjoyed at matches for years. His two passions in life were Motherwell and rugby as he was also a season ticket holder for Glasgow warriors at Scotstoun. Due to serious illness, pancreatic cancer he never renewed his season ticket for the 21/22 season , he never really recovered after the chemo treatment, and finally passed away yesterday, aged 69. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him .

Nah not for me, we've been down the paying big wages to average players road and it nearly killed the club. We are a well run club just now with a financial structure that means we are living within our means on the fanbase we have which is the only way to operate. The model has served us well over the years ok no major cup wins etc but reasonably regular Euro qualification, 2nd and 3rd place league finishes, cup finals, etc so why break the structure that is working well. Paying large wages to a few players only upsets the other players who may not be getting the same, and remember the poor players only getting 1 or 2k a week, that's a 100k a year salary.

How difficult can it be to find a left back that's better than McGinley or Carroll, who let's be honest have both been brutal anytime they played.
-
Sounds like copyright Chic Murray for that one, are you running out of original material.

We really need a genuine rumour to discuss on here before the nonsense takes hold and Grizzly's jokes start to look funny

A reasonable pished suggestion but no chance of it happening, back to Rangers maybe, but not another Scottish Premiership team, the problem is he still thinks he can make it with a top premiership team in England but the reality is he is not as good as hes made out to be, still a good young player, his best move is to quit Chelsea and get back playing regularly as he's never going to break into the chelsea 1st team especially not with Tuchel in charge.

Ref gave a straight red in the Newcastle v Man City game this afternoon to Kieran Trippier VAR had a look, ref was asked to review and he changed the red to a yellow thats how it should work.
-
When VAR is implemented is there not a minimum number of cameras that need to be up and running so that as many different angles as possible are available. So in theory that should make decisions like the one yesterday a lot easier to determine either way. VAR is far from perfect but given the number of dubious decisions we had this weekend it has to be better than what we Currently have, ok we benefited yesterday but it's guaranteed we will at some point to be on the wrong side of a decision given the Current standard of refereeing we have in Scotland. For me anything that helps the refs get it right and bring some consistency to decision making can only be a good thing.
-
Just watched the match highlights and I have to say it was never a penalty, the ref had no view and I suspect the linesman who had a limited view at best said it was so we were very fortunate to get it Livi can rightly feel hard done by. That said it's about time we had a few descions go our way so no doubt it will even itself out over the season and we will have a dodgy pen against us at some point.

It speaks volumes of the state the Dundee untd defence is in just now if Curtis Main can score two against them .
-
It was Johansen or O'Donnell for me both of them were excellent but gave it to Sol missed nothing and had their big striker in his pocket all game,

Just back in from the game in all honesty it was dreadful, Livi had no intention of going forward from the 1st whistle, we had lots of the ball but we are feckin toothless up front we carry no threat at all. That said we got into good positions on a few occasions and probably just shaded the game so a deserved win. We can't rely on dubious penalties to win games we need to sign a goalscorer ASAP , the sending off forced Livi To come out more and we are terrible at seeing games out we defend too deep and let them get into areas of the park they should be nowhere near that late in a game. We are moving in the right direction but we need to create and take more chances up front to keep the momentum going , which for me will be difficult with the current players as I said we need a goalscorer to back up KVV. So a dreadful game football wise but a fantastic result, another 3 points and 3rd place in hhe league, so has to be a good day at the office onwards and upwards.
-
No worries mate I guessed that, would loved to have see him at Fir park though, a great player and goal scorer.
-
We could never afford shankland Dundee untd threw wads of cash at him to tempt him, large weekly wages, and signing on fees much more than were able to offer, and he would have went to Beerschot in Belgium for probably more again and the same signing for Hearts. Your right though a good goalscorer but a luxury out of our reach.
-
Have you seen her anywhere near Tim Hortons at Fir park so we can start a real rumour
-
Snodgrass would be a great addition, to the squad playing ability and experience wise he's played at a high level for years. I think West ham paid £10 million for him just 5 years ago, so I suspect he will have a lot of clubs with much more money than us after him, especially as he is a free agent so I am not hopeful of seeing him at Fir park .
-
It was nothing to do with luck, in a league with 3 decent teams and 9 shitey ones last year we done enough and earned enough points to be the 2nd least shitey team of the 9. Luck never got us the equalisers at St Mirren and Livi, or the 3 points against RC , we done what we had to so we made 5th place and Europe on merit as we were better than the 7 teams below us.
-
A top 6 finish is no more unrealistic this season than it was last year its the same squad of players but we now have a manager who will get much more out of them, play them in their correct positions etc its early days but the signs are encouraging so I think we have every chance of another top 6 finish.
-
That's a decent return, seems to have found his level, good luck to him.
-
Done deal apparently according to the link below https://www.footballinsider247.com/sources-motherwell-agree-to-re-sign-leeds-united-star-stuart-mckinstry-as-medical-lined-up/

Why all the fuss about Watt, we got the best 6 months of his career before he reverted to what he is brilliant at, scoring very few if any goals, he's had loads of clubs and done feck all at all of them apart from us, yes he scored a few in his time here but honestly he is brutal, a player who has done very well over the years dining out on one wonder goal he scored against Barcelona over a decade ago. Should we have him back not for me he shafted us mid season and went to Dundee untd for me after a fall out with GA, which seems to be happening again with Jack Ross. So I hope if he does become available we avoid him like the plague, we can do much better.
-
The Scottish cup winners get the Europa league place, so if one of the uglies wins the Cup then 3rd place in the league gets it as Hearts done this year, so potentially only top 4 will get Europe if say St Mirren or Killie etc win the cup. That's my understanding of it as it stands.
-
Same as it was this year I think, 2 CL places, 1 EL place and 2 ECL spots. Not 100% sure if the champions go into CL groups like this year and if the entry rounds are the same for the other teams, think all that depends on any changes to the country and team coefficients.
