L CUP Motherwell v Partick Thistle 28/07/2024
Spiderpig replied to SteelmaninOZ's topic in Club Chat
We have 8pts at the moment a win on penalties would would give us 10pts, the most Clyde can get is 9. But as we are going to beat Partick it wont matter, and even if we are not seeded, a bit if luck to avoid the uglies and it's game on with any of the rest. -
Nobody is going to be brave enough to try to shout that from the stands, AVS or Stama will do just fine
-
This thread has went a bit strange, nobody from the doom mongers has been on labelling our latest acquisition as shite yet. It's nearly been 24 hrs since the story broke ffs what's happening?
-
As they say on still game " you've taken that too far" 🤐
-
I've had many experiences on Arran over the years, it's a great place, but nothing involving Vans 😂
-
Nah that's the wall where the mobile branch of the west coast dating site parks up at night.
-
Aye he'll be getting a decent wage and splinters on his backside warming a bench, but not a lot of actual game time. But he's an experienced international bench warmer so he'll be fine.
-
Unfortunate name, Sounds like a west coast dating site.
-
His full name will need 4 or 5 shirts I think Apostolos Vasilios Stamatelopoulos Hereafter referred to on this forum as AVS 😁
-
Trying too hard mate, turn your sarcasm filter down a bit.
-
Aye another Saturday night for you after a Motherwell win, with nothing to rage about.
-
Have a day off and stop talking pish.
-
And Senseless, humourless, needless, pointless, etc 😁

I'm long past the age of buying replica kit but I often wonder why there is a need to change kit every season or two. I can see the logic of it for the big clubs who make millions from kit sales etc, but in Motherwell's case from what's been said its provan sports who seem to make the majority of the cash so why do we bother? Celtic have been using fundamentally the same home kit for the past 136 years so why do we feel the need to change styles every other season and then get landed with some generic design from a kit supplier who has no idea about the club and as such we get some of the hideous kit we've seen in recent years. Take this seasons training and warm up gear, why do they need separate sets, in colours you could spot from space, it looks like Stevie Wonder is doing some freelance designs for Macron. Why can't we just get a design everyone likes and stick with it, oh and make sure when we do there is a sponsor free option.

How many eligible to vote members does the WS have in total?
-
It's not black it's Steel Grey according to the club. That said I don't like it either.

Of those 3 Montrose are the best side, Clyde only just avoided the playoff and possible relegation to the Lowland League, which is where Edinburgh City are heading if they stay in business long enough as they are brutal, a team of teenagers. The only thing you can take from Clyde scoring 5 is how bad EC must be. We will win the group, we might not get one of the seeded spots but that's par for the course for us, avoid the ugly sisters and Hearts and it's game on against any of the rest.

With you on that, same as the home kit another decent strip ruined by unnecessary embellishments, 2 simple claret and Amber strips on the sleeves would have been sufficient. All you see when you look at the strip are the in your face tartan armbands, very tacky.
-
Purely on that measure alone, you are probably correct, however our fan base if properly motivated to maximise as many members as it can, develop new revenue streams etc will enable the WS to step up and become more hands on if you like to ensure proper governance at the club going forward. This will ensure that any future investment offers will be considered in a much better position for the club than the shambles of recent weeks. I was never a fan of the WS for various reasons but I will probably now sign up and commit to see if real fan ownership can be realised

Just back in from the game, we were hopeless tonight, dominated possession against a team with 11 behind the ball at all times and we created nothing. 2 games, 4 goals all from defenders, playing 1 up front is a nonsense, we seem to be back to the dark days of last seasons winless run, absolutely no serious goal threat. You could see montrose growing g in confidence for about 10 mins before they scored and all they did was kick it long and get into the box and we could not cope with it, Oxborough's finger tips stopping another goal but we continued to sit back and never learned the lesson. I looked at the match stats, we had 11 shots with only 2 on target, Montrose had 2 shots and 2 on target ffs. SK needs a big reaction from the team on Saturday, the lone striker approach is not working, neither Robinson or Ebiye can do it so maybe Stuparavic alongside one of them might work. If not I hope we have another striker incoming.

Fair enough every day is a school day.

I see Devante Cole has been released by Barnsley, we could use some of the Bair cash to temp him back to Fir Park as his replacement. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/cv20gvkerzko

The crowds we get are irrelevant, a fully seated 10K minimum capacity stadium is a ground requirement for playing in the premiership, so that's why we need 10K seats.
