I don't think i'd want to hear what anyone at the club had to say about the Stjarnan debacle. It would sound all too familiar to other cup exits in our very recent history.

I think the battle to get in the top 6 will be the most keenly contested in the league this year. All of the teams who normally finish in the bottom half will fancy their chances thanks to the Edinburgh clubs not being there as potential rivals. The title can be given to that lot first day of the season, the euro spots will realistically be amongst Aberdeen United and possibly Saints and ourselves, and i think Accies and St Midden will be cut adrift and fight each other for the automatic or play off spot. So if everybody else is having a crack at predicting the full league i'll join in. Celtic Aberdeen St Johnstone Dundee Utd Motherwell Dundee -------------------- Kilmarnock Inverness Ross County Partick -------------------- Accies -------------------- St Midden

I know the Stjarnan wounds are still pretty raw but i was curious to see what the general thoughts are about where we will finish in the league and perform in the cups this coming season. It looks like the euro defeat means no more players are coming in so with the squad we have what does everyone think we can manage this year ? My personal thoughts are we will finish in the top 6 but not the european spots, the cups are obviously a sore spot with us right now but i have a gut feeling we might have a run in one of the cups this year (Scottish cup hopefully). The main reason i see us as a top 6 side is although we may be a poorer side this year than the last few before, the opposition is not really in great shape either. Celtic, Aberdeen, United and St Johnstone will all be in the top 6 but after that its up for grabs. So i'll predict a 5th place finish for us with a Scottish cup semi final as well. Thoughts anyone ?

I just want the season to start now and try to forget that result. The first game of the season will be a big indicator to where this team is in terms of ability etc. in my opinion St Mirren are the worst team in the league ( got money on them to finish bottom ) they play a pretty poor style of football which mainly involves hoofing long high balls to Thompson and feeding off the scraps and they're not even very good at that, If that defence of ours can't handle that simple type of attacking football then we are in big trouble.

The recent "golden era" of league success had to come to an end at some point but now its here its still a pretty hard kick to the baws. With Aberdeen and United spending more dosh again this year its hard to see us competing with them sadly, its whether we can get our finger out and actually claim a top 6 spot which is not guaranteed especially the way things have been so far.
-
Think this may be the beginning of the end of the success we've enjoyed for the last few years. It was always going to happen but now its here its still a really sore one

The season may only be 2 competitive games old but its already looking pretty bleak at the moment.

Celtic Aberdeen and Saints are all through we can't be the only one to let the country down !! Especially against fuckin part timers !!!
-
McCall has spoke about their front players being very decent so i reckon it will be one of their centre halfs who will score with a carbon copy goal of Fulham's 1st on saturday.

I've took us at 8/13 as part of a coupon. I've took this Dutch lot to beat the sheep shaggers as well. Not cause i dislike them just cause i genuinely believe they will get stuffed.
-
I don't know enough about this lot to make a real prediction but my gut instinct is we will get put out by the odd goal or away goals on aggregate. Nothing to base it on just a gut feeling.

Typical pre season friendly but looked very vulnerable in defence at times i thought. But i don't read much in to pre season.

Would not be surprised if Clarky is paraded with his top at Fir Park some point next week. Seen on sky tonight that Stubbs refused to rule out signing Faddy. That looks a real possibility now.
-
I really fancied Hibs to make a move for Faddy this summer. Still might not happen hopefully but if they offer him a good wage i can understand why he would move there.
-
People said signing Sutton again was a step back. Don't see anyone complaining about him now. Why should Clarkson be any different ? If he came in and grabbed 10-15 goals next season the same people bad mouthing him now would be singing his praises. As some have said i'd like to see youngsters come through as well but Moore has a long term injury and Erwin has not played enough yet, if Clarkson comes back i'll welcome him back no bother at all.
-
I think Clarkson and Sutton could be a right good partnership up top, especially with Ainsworth and Vigurs supplying both of them.
-
I think there is 0% chance of the move happening but i would take Goodwillie in a heartbeat. Never made the grade in England but a good SPL player. Would complement big Sutton as well. But as i said, no chance it will happen.
-
Anier was good for us but i'm not too disappointed to see him go if i'm honest. I'm excited to see who McCall brings in as a replacement though.
-
Delighted Lionel has signed up but i can't help but wonder who the other Scottish teams were who tried to get him and if they were Premier league or Championship.
-
Angol was let go by Spurs i think.
-
I'll say Faddys chip at Partick just cause it was the last game i was able to make it to thanks to work.
-
McPake no thanks. Let some other poor premier league club pay for his medical treatment while he sits in the stand.
-
Just wondering if anyone on here would fancy signing up any of the Hibs rejects who were let go this afternoon ? James McPake Ben Williams Kevin Thomson Alan Maybury Tom Taiwo Paul Cairney I really rate the keeper Williams but i imagine he is out our wage bracket plus we've just signed Dan so that won't happen, but i don't think i would touch any of the others to be honest.
-
I'd be willing to bet if Twardzik has one good game in Europe the people on here questioning him will be singing his praises. Good luck to the lad as even the doubters have pointed out he hasn't had a bad game in a Well top yet. May we hope it continues

Happy memories. Sitting up the far end of the East Stand right next to that lot in the South when Skippy hit the 2 goals, both goals i ended up about 5 rows further down than where i started. And the walk back to Jack Daniels with them all calling us "dirty or**ge bast**ds" because thats their natural reaction to a defeat from a provincial club. The T.V pictures of them greetin their eyes out will stay with me forever
