Excellent signing imo. Someone who is young, fit and trying to get his career back on track. He will be hungry and keen to impress. Well done Bara keep them coming.

I agree he gives us options just leave it at that as I said we need the first team starters in and ready for the friendlies to get them gelling for the campaign. I don't want to be struggling with a terrible defence 4-5 games in as we are waiting as I said earlier for the last minute bargain who may be able to fill the gap and turn it around. Thats ok for January we need those players in before the season starts.

and you could argue those subs should be our new young guys from the scouting systems or the guys already in the under 20's. What I do see now though is that we have no experienced strikers and I can then undestand the reasoning behind the signing but definitely not imo as our main striker. I don't have the confidence others have that he still has it to score enough goals to make his signing worthwile. I am hopeful that an additional striker is being looked at as well. We need to start well as we can't afford to languish around the bottom of the league at the beginning as confidence issues may prove fatal and we need to start with a strong a team as possible and get the new players in and match fit from the start. I am not a fan of waiting until the last minute in the transfer window in the hope we manage to get a bargain player when we have already played 4-5 games into the league and struggling.

Don't think anyone is criticising the new scouting system at all if anything they want to see a signing from it. I know its new etc but so far the signings have not exactly been unknowns..Pearson, Ainsowrth McDonald, Clarkson, they just needed to ask Flow who they were and if they could do us a turn. Marv is exactly the type of player I am expecting from it and excited by what we could unearth. Cahill could be another and I sense a good start I think there will be a few unknown potentials signed its just a matter of some patience from some, me included. Bara says he isn't in a rush to sign anyone which has left me a wee bit concerned with the preseason already started. There are a few gaping holes needing filled as a far as I can see but getting the right signings is important also so I will trust Bara will do that. However guys on here have the right as paying punters to question any signings good or bad and the reasons behind it as they see it. Its a forum thats what it is for and I will happily debate with guys about it but am not criticising I am trying to understand the reasons behind the signings. Some guys on here are certainly more informed in these matters than i ever will be sadly so am seeking their thoughts on it.

Nostalgic signings..really..?? your right we are not Man Utd so cannot afford any nostalgia in any of our signings. Cold sharp reasoning and judgement is required for signings and for us to survive. If you want a signing that will get the fans through the door you need to splash cash on that type of player and we don't have it. Why not sign Ruddy or Randolph and bring back Jamie Murphy and while I am at it install Martinez as manager if I was feeling nostalgic and wanted marketing signings. If thats the case then it is a terrible signing. Bringing a player in just to please the fans is a completely ridiculous and reckless approach to keeping the club in the premiership and solvent.

Definitely not forgotten, however, Faddy was brilliant first time around but just didn't work for me this time. Just because they were good once doesn't mean they will be the same whereas Skippy definitely did work out but some people on here have claret and amber tinted specs and couldn't care less what impact he will have. . He will be judged on his performances next season by me critically and honestly and if he proves me wrong then brilliant but if not, him being a great servant before will cut no ice with me and he will get both barrels. The club is bigger than any former player and its survival is top priority for me so handing contracts to former well players should I hope solely be based on what they can offer and how they fit into the system being considered by the manager, nothing else. Some people quite rightly question his signing as from his recent history and form has absolutely no sell on potential and question what he will bring to the club. Others are delighted that another former well player has signed and can't or probably won't care if he still has the capability he once had. The club have been quite rightly talking up the new scouting system and software and the potentially hundreds of new players available and we sign a former Well player who was released for nothing. These are the stone cold facts and some may not like that but I am putting them out there not to be anti Clarkson in any way I am maybe more trying to understand where the club is going in its signing policy. I understand the arguments of solid pros working with youngsters but we have plenty of them still in the team as it stands. Maybe in that vein he will be bringing some guidance to the young strikers to bring them on much like Skippy done in his short spell here with Erwin. I dunno really just thinking out loud.

Dunno how I feel about this to be honest...Excellent player in the past. He done well when he started for Dundee then just disappeared. Got released at the end of season. I hope he is the back up striker that gives us options.and we are still looking at other strikers...tin hat on for the backlash from the luvvies

Thats a good shout, would be very interesting if he could do that..wouldn't mind seeing him in that position ina few friendlies to see if he could do it. His finishing is superb but is his positioning..?

That may be true but the results haven't always been great. We are trying to move on and be more professional and have a sustained and permanent presence in the transfer market rather than reacting to losing players when we could have been proactive in our recruitment and retention.

I agree, this person was brought in to help build the club up again, this is a mid to long term plan and never good to hear someone move on so quickly especially with the new season only a few weeks away and a major squad rebuild under way

Definitely... but I want to concentrate on who we are getting to replace him. He has gone...We will get whatever compensation we are due so I wish him the best but I have put his transfer behind me and want to look to the future as he is surely doing. I would rather speculate on do we have youth players who are as exciting and are next on the conveyer belt. I just don't have any interest once they are gone.

His agent will be definitely pushing for Leeds so that he can get a bigger cut of the cash. Good player but don't think he is being advised very well if he does go to Leeds. He won't see a game for years down there if ever.

I believe he is still only 22, so plenty of time to cut out the mistakes and improve his game. I find the best defenders are in their late 20's early 30's when they seem to blossom and are usually at the height of their game. For me he comes into the category of a sellable asset if we can get him signed up.

Yeah will be an interesting close season and will see the end of the line for some wage thieves like Vigurs. Signing Laing would be a great start. If we do keep Erwin some media training would help as well as there is no doubt the TV companies will be making a beeling for him for the postmatch interviews. Would be delighted if he stays but he is a very rough diamond who needs taken under an experienced pros wing, which leads me to the experienced pros. McManus had the two best games since coming to Fir Park but his season has been mediocre at best. Maybe he needs Laing in beside him as that seems to have worked wonders. McDonald will go sadly as I feel that an English Championship side will take the chance on him, if not, would be delighted to have him as a solid attacking centre mid. His days up front I think are gone and he has shown some ability as a attacking mid or trequartista. The great thing about Motherwell managers is the fans have no idea who the hell we will sign and its usually someone we know very little about.
