  1. It's almost like players want to stay if we don't wait until the Old Firm and half of England try and sign them first.
  2. Well done the club on signing up Livingstone. Must have been some feat given how apparently nigh-on impossible it is to tie down academy players.
  3. You're arguing against a point nobody is actually making. I'm not saying we should be matching Rangers or anyone else's offers. I'm saying that if, AT THE START OF THE SEASON,we had offered him wages in line with his status as one of our better prospects, with the promise of first team money once he broke through then I'm pretty confident he'd have signed. I don't expect us to keep first team players or get into bidding wars with the Old Firm, but I doubt there was much competition for Hastie and Turnbull's signatures when they were unheard of teenagers with no top flight experience.
  4. Make them acceptable offers with the promise of an increase if they make the step up? Hastie had been at the club for 10 years, and had no experience above League One and Championship level. Last month he was saying "It's like a dream come true,I came up through the academy from the age of nine and this has been my dream to break through. I just want to keep doing that. "I don't want to go anywhere, I want to stay here, keep my feet on the ground and keep progressing." We were clearly in a pretty strong negotiating position, absolutely mental that you seem to think Hastie wouldn't have signed on if we offered him anywhere near reasonable terms at the start of the season.
  5. I don't think it's unfair to expect professional football managers and coaches to form an evaluation on players they've seen in training and youth games everyday for the last 3 or 4 years. To me it just seems like a pretty schoolboy error to constantly have young players immediately going into the last few months of their contracts as soon as they break into the first team. If Turnbull and Hastie were the ones earmarked to make the cut this season then surely they should have been offered 2 year deals at the start of the season, to cover for this eventuality? Maybe the club did offer them terms and the players themselves wanted to wait, but the fact we've been caught in this exact same position with Hall and Cadden etc makes me doubt that.
  6. Aberdeen are pretty shite at home recently too. I'm not saying we're definetly going to take 12/12 before the split or anything but individually they're all winnable games.
  7. His second name is Robinson, he had trials at Rangers as a kid and is from Lisburn. He's definitely not a Celtic fan.
  8. Surely Hartley's still capable of filling in for the odd game like this? Or has his fitness really dropped off a cliff that much?
  9. We're probably slightly unlucky to have come away with 3 losses from the Hearts game so far. The first league game was a 0-0 game settled by a freak goal, and we were well in the LC tie. Tynecastle away last time should probably have been called off for crimes against humanity. 6 wins on the trot would be ridiculous, can see us ending up with a score draw. 2-2 (Main, McCormack)
  10. Andy Robertson should have stayed at Queens Park for a few more years and learned his trade. Shame he chose the money at Dundee United.
  11. Enjoying that the guy himself has said he should be back this season but people on this thread think he'll be lucky to walk again.
  12. Getting closer to finding his level. Only a few more divisions to go.
  13. Aye, aside from battering a shambolic Hearts side, Livi have more or less reverted to type. Winning 4 in a row or catching Livi and Hibs would have sounded mental a month ago, but both are in touching distance now.
  14. We've got 5 first team strikers, play 1 upfront, and people want us to sign more?
  15. Craig Moore scored Ayr's winner against United last night, Jimmy Gomis got sent off in the same game.
  16. If we're playing up at front, which I think we should be as the shape clearly benefits the rest of the side, then I don't think we have much choice. Johnson isn't well rounded enough to lead the line alone, McCormack looks 3 stone overweight and Sammon is Sammon. Main might not be a stand out but he's the only one that can occupy defenders and hold up the play. If only he could occasionally score goals too.
  17. Never knew Marcelo Bielsa posted on here
  18. We can't even sign Miller unless we get rid of Sammon.
  19. He's scored 15 in 21 in his year in Australia. However poor a standard it is, you'd think anyone with that sort of record in a professional top flight would still have a lot to offer us.
