Agree McManus isn't playing well but he's not being helped by a goalkeeper who can't command even his 6 yard box for cross balls. Also the full backs should be closing down first goal came from right midfielder not closing down the corner taker though, full back should remain in the box to cover.

Have to agree, watched McCall's last game at Perth and they were slightly unlucky that night could have been 2-0 up before St Johnstone equalised. The best displays in the time since were when Black was in charge the fight in team during the game with Dundee United which we won, hasn't been evident since. I am all for giving Barraclough time and I was encouraged with his appointment and he seemed convincing every interview that I listen to him but the performances this month have been nothing short of awful, the players have given up for him completely. I really can't see any light at the end of the tunnel we are doomed and I fear he hasn't a clue of how to deal with the malaise.

Also I feel he is good at showboating average saves, and also making a save but knocking straight back out to the feet of an opposition striker.

I raise you both John Gardiner

If you look at official site fixtures and results we only got beat 3-1!!! Maybe O'Brien and Twardzik have altered the result in hope we all forget about the shambles of a goal.

That was a shocking decision by the ref, and if he didn't see it his assistant couldn't have missed it. I wouldn't have been shocked at a red card either.

Very sensible post, of course it's not Baraclough's fault although I'm concerned with some of his decisions, with the small cushion that we have 0-0 draws away from home would do us at the moment. I do understand his options are limited but if we had "parked the bus" and frustrated Dundee for first half it would have been a better game plan than attempt to be more expansive with 4 forwards. We could have maybe opened up later in 2nd half and sneaked a goal. I do worry that we are similar to Hibs were last season a new manager has come in and it's pretty obvious that a lot of the squad won't feature in his long term plans and they either resent him or can't be arsed and have just stopped playing for the club. Therefore we need at least 2-3 players in now that have a future here and they are playing for their future in Premiership.

Agree with you although I was s Lasley fan but he is struggling this season. I do feel he has something to offer but not in the present system we are playing. Carswell yesterday was poor not sure if he was fully fit though but I do tend to agree that Carswell will leave Motherwell and slip quickly down the leagues. Our midfield on the whole is awful offering no protection for a weak defence and not able to support Sutton quickly either which leaves him isolated and playing as a lone striker which isn't suited to him.

I thought that was a foul against Ojamma too and it would have had to be a red card. I think that the ref bottled it for that decision. Didn't excuse Ojamma being sent off.

I fear that a lot of players know that they won't be at Fir Park next season and are playing like it doesn't matter most know they will pick up a move elsewhere on the back of the previous seasons league position. The board need to gamble and create some scope to bring in 2 or 3 players or I fear we will go down. Similar to Hibs last year when the board refused the wages for Adam Rooney and I'm sure Rooney's goals would have been enough to keep Hibs up.

Thomas had a decent first half looked dangerous when he ran at them provided a couple of decent crosses and offered a glimmer of hope. The others did nothing wrong but by the time they came on game was gone.

[quote name='milo' timestamp='1420909256' post='428738 What was the plan in the 2nd half? Sometimes when a team have 10 men it's difficult to tell which team is a man down. In fairness, I'm not sure we actually did look any worse. Thomas showed some great touches but every other player, once again, should be ashamed to take their wages this week. People say Sutton is effective if you put the ball in the box for him, but he should surely be able to pass the ball 6 yards?!??its unfair just to single him out though. It's the same players making the same mistakes every single fucking week and has been since the Stjarnan game. Embarrassing and humiliating. Anyone still want to argue that the Malpas team was worse? In my opinion the team was setup to capitalise on low confidence in the Dundee team we gifted them a couple of goals and it backfired after that their confidence flooded back and we were left looking as appalling as the score line suggested. The best Motherwell manager that I can remember, Tommy McClean set up the team to not get beat and yes it frustrated the fans but at the moment that's what we need. If we draw majority of our games between now and end of season we will be safe. That means being solid from front to back, defensively we are poor but playing 2 wingers and 2 forwards isn't going to help. We need a new keeper and if Hammell isn't going to be fit we need decent cover at left back, Reid isn't good enough. Lasley has no pace and Harkings went past him at one point like he wasn't there, and we need a mobile central midfielder. Can't understand criticism of Sutton he gives everything and he scores goals even when getting awful service ok he's not going to create goals but he harried all day.

Marshall needs to take responsibility for the goal keeper situation, Twardzik and Nielsen aren't good enough, if we can't bring another keeper in I would drop Twardzik and give Nielsen another chance at least he brings a bit more height and command of cross balls. Twardzik causes panic at most set pieces which can't help the defence also his distribution is awful.
-
I would have subbed Ainsworth within first 10 minutes. No effort and all teams have him sussed now.
-
The last time I can remember seeing Motherwell being as bad as they were yesterday was the Roger Hynd/Ally McCleod period. I only hope history doesn't repeat itself and we can get enough results against the fellow strugglers to save our season.
-
Have to agree on yesterday's performance he gave no cover on the left side. Constantly gave possession away by trying to dribble around the opposition and when presented with a good chance after good work by Thomas he blasted it wide. I wouldn't be to disappointed to see him go at the end of this month if it free's up wages for investment elsewhere in the team

I think you will always get this at Local Derby matches, however there is an element that have very little understanding of the football but spent most of first half intent on trouble making. However the complete disorganisation of stewarding today caused issues. An area of away stand was sectioned off yet they had still sold tickets for these seats the stewards had no answer to where they should now sit which caused more people to be in areas than there were seats.

I very much doubt players like Lasley and Hammell haven't been trying because of any behind the scenes issues, I could understand them being disillusioned with letting Faddy go. However the problem in my opinion is down to important players ageing(fitness and injury prone). Awful signing policy over last 3 years and lack of investment in our youth policy. Defensively we are awful, goals against is embarrassing. Hammell can be excused because he's been unfit through injury most of the season. Reid wasn't good enough at Morton, Kerr should never be near the first team ever again. McManus is a better player than his current form suggests. Twardzik has probably been our best player this season yet I also feel his lack of height and subsequent problems with crosses are putting a weak defence under more pressure. Lasley runs around trying but he's had a poor season maybe lost a yard of pace. Ainsworth offers something in flashes but needs to aid the fullback more. Ojamma has failed to deliver on what we saw that he was capable of, today he was invisible had no influence on the game and left Reid exposed in 2nd half as he constantly failed to track back. Sutton will score if given any service but won't create many chances but he's the best we have. Erwin needs a break from 1st team for a while his confidence is taking a hammering. The club needs rebuilding from bottom up but Baraclough requires a break from injuries especially in central midfield and hopefully wheel and deal to at least get us to the summer and still be an SPL club.

What I have seen so far with the way Barriclough has set up the team. Vigurs will not fit into the system or style.
-
Very possible, Accies have wobbled although had decent result last week. Motherwell are looking more solid for all Thistles possession in 2nd half they never really troubled Dan too much. Another 1-0 with Sutton scoring will do me.

For me Law was excellent in first half, caused Thistle loads of problems with pressing and was winning possession high up pitch and then using the ball well. Hamell made a difference down the left and was solid at back. Ramsden isn't a midfielder and hopefully Lawson can be fit sometime soon. On the whole a lot of promise but not out the woods yet. Also is Vigurs injured he hasn't been spotted since his abysmal 1st half against Ross County.
