Scottish Premiership St Johnstone V Motherwell Sat 17 Dec 15:00

I disagree about McDonald, he is the one player we have who is always looking and making himself available for the pass. Yes at times he frustratingly loses possession but he contributes far more. -
Scottish Premiership Aberdeen V Motherwell Tue 13 Dec 19:45

Unfortunately I think there is more chance of a 4 5 1 than 433. -
Moult and McDonald were great today, and the Thistle defenders will be having nightmares all week after that today. Tait was much better as a wing back, than he is normally in the full back role. Any of them could easily have won the man of the match award but Moult just shaded it with his pass to McDonaldfor the 2nd goal.

Scottish Premiership Motherwell V Ross County Sat 29 Oct 15:00

Brill in for Samson, Ainsworth in for MacLean Kennedy or Ferguson in for McManus. Would love to drop Clay as he brings very little to the team, Lucas was anonymous when he came on against Hearts but he may offer more if starting. Lasley will struggle to play 2 matches in 3 days, so that would leave us light of options in midfield, I'm not sure whether Campbell or Turnbull are ready to start for the 1st team. Start Ainsworth and allow him to play either side in a more expansive role. Cadden to play opposite side of the midfield giving the balance to midfield. I would start with McDonald and Moult but they need the right service and stop the constant long balls. -
Scottish Premiership Motherwell V Inverness Ct Wed 26 Oct 19:45

Inverness weren't very good either but they got the breaks, we were as bad as I can remember seeing any Motherwell side in over 40 years of supporting. No creativity or pace. Team shape was a shambles. Big changes needed for Saturday. -

Lots of good play, great possession and moving ball around well but no cutting edge. -

As mentioned earlier, Moore was possibly offered a contract so there would be compensation if he left. However he accepted the contract so this a decent option for the club. Also if he scores goals in the Championship he could force his way back into the reckoning at Fir Park.

Cadden was played in the centre of midfield during the first half at Arbroath. The fact he was moved at half time shows that the experiment never worked.
-
I liked Pearo he was pivotal in the playoffs and his injury early last season exposed the weaknesses in our midfield at the time. However with the inclusion of Cadden I feel we had two very similar type of players, and Pearson was asked to play the holding role, which isn't his game. So a bit of cash and the freeing up of a wage bill could allow us to bring in someone more suited to that role. As long as it's not Gomis.

But with the financial disadvantage we now have over say Dundee our chances of making top 6 are much less. I'm fully backing the club in their stance with this. For the SPFL not to see the issue in advance is shocking. The fixtures are adjusted and Rangers don't just replace Dundee United otherwise they would be playing Dundee at New Year.
-
And if they aren't good enough, they will make there way back to SPFL anyway.

I think the Ainsworth story in the Record comes more from a lazy journalist searching through fans forums and seeing the story earlier in the week on here. I fully expect Ainsworth still to be at Motherwell next season and will leave when his contract expires.
-
I think the 1 year contract is more down to both players still having a bit to prove but the club still believing that there is potential there. I would imagine when/if the players establish themselves the club would be quick to offer extensions.
-
I agree with that, loved Motherwell for over 40 years, whilst my dislike for BOTH sides of the Old Firm has steadily grown over that time. I will cheer on any team playing against either of them.
-
My first game was against St Johnstone either 1974 or 75. I think we won but not too sure of the score. Myself and brother also used the Motherwell travel Club in the late 80's, it was subsidised by the club and sponsors.
-
Possibly Thomas instead of Ainsworth.
-
Agree completely if we can stay up this season with the squad we have without having to spend money on extra wages. Then that money could be put to better use in the summer during a rebuilding job.
-
I think we are missing Hall, Kennedy and McManus haven't worked as a partnership. IMO Kennedy charges our of position to often exposing gaps that McManus struggles to cover, also their distribution is awful for professional footballers that are training everyday.
-
Let me be the voice of optimism, I think we have been played fairly well in most recent games, I've felt if we can get a couple of goals early in a game we could give some team a doing, also Killie's confidence will be even worse than ours and will probably crumble if they concede a couple of quick goals. We are due a large doze of luck, with last minute goals against or poor refereeing decision even just a rebound falling to one of our players feet. So I think we will see 4 or 5 goals in this game today, so 4-1 to the good guys.
-
Firhill was bad, but I thought Dens Park was worse, it was rutted and areas where players and ball were sinking. Fir Park is probably one of the best grass surfaces in the league at the moment especially when you consider we've had two home cup ties in the past month also.
-
The challenge in isolation wasn't that bad and sometimes you get them. But for me the frustration was a few minutes before Inverness got a foul for a very similar, albeit softer challenge over beside the dugouts, because the whole Inverness bench claimed for it. The inconsistency in refereeing is awful at the moment.
-
Yes I thought keeper made a mess of first goal and thought he was slow to get across for second goal too. For my tuppence worth on formation, I would have brought Moult on for Pearson, dropping McDonald deeper into the number 10 role. I would have taken Johnson off (as he looked disinterested) and replaced with Ainsworth.
-
I think in general that's something that needs to happen more. We seem to always try get the ball down the wings, attempt a cut back and nearly over play every move. I think we could do with more players just having a go, even if the shots off target a deflection or rebound can lead to something else.
-
Agree completely, margins are very small. With better refereeing and a bit of luck we should be 4 points better off after 2 tricky away games.
