  1. I wouldn't be against Robinson getting till after St J. game.. He appears to have strengthened up the defence although that may be due to the increased effort put in in the last two games. Still defending far too deep but then who is there with skill and some pace to give some relief to the back four. Clay hardly seen, Cadden when he was getting rave notices earlier in the season was about pace and strength, that's not showing now, why?. Being kind to Pearson to say he has been ineffective since his return. I'm afraid January transfer market was another missed opportunity AND the replacement left sided player for Johnson seems to be getting developed as full back. Cannot understand why Campbell is not given another chance, he was a success against Hamilton.
  2. Sorry I've got to ask. Were you at Kilmarnock on Saturday. Everybody who was there accepts we were terrible in the first half. We substituted Lasley and Hammell at half time and things improved. You want to bring them back for Aberdeen. Pearson I thought was as poor as the others but he too improved moving more to a centre mid. Injuries and suspension aside the 2nd. half team and formation for me.
  3. I'll be more than for him to play at CB even when McManus is fit.
  4. Don't think today's game made any difference to the managerial decision. On the downside, for me, Lasley and Hammell started and for differing reasons that should not have been the case. On the upside changes were made at HT. We need a new face but don't ask me who that is.
  5. My take on the game. We appeared to line up 352 in the first half with Jules and Hammell switching roles. Lasley except for the booking was mostly missing, Pearson too. Tait had a tough time but he had no cover in front, Killie were hard working and busy all over the pitch. Yes they chances but few were on target and Boyd is still a fat moaning git. Their goal was a scrappy one, our defense once again at fault. wish we had a keeper that controlled his box and commanded the men in front of him. He did have a couple of grat saves 2nd half. Was nice to see our new management team change things at HT. we started positively as if we were the team in front. Pearson and Cadden improved greatly in centre mid, Mcdonald had a few misplaced passes but worked his socks off in attempts to create chances. Frear wasn't in the game a lot but he has a pretty good left foot. The free kick for Jules goal was a peach. We then contrived to back in to our shell as we normally do when in front late on making for a nervous 15 minutes or so for players and fans alike. Delighted with the three points.

    Boycott ?

Tell you what. You come up with some brilliant idea that guarantees home crowd of say 10000 every match and the income will allow us to offer better wages to players. We might just, repeat might, just unearth some with more ability than we have now. We have debts to serve and the Club have chosen a mix of lower league and youth to achieve their objectives. I personally do not believe any player walks on to the park thinking "I am not going to try today". Lack of ability, mistakes, and possibly being asked to do a job he is not suited for will give that impression. Just like everyday life I suppose.
  7. Suppose it might be wrong thread but I watched the Thistle v Hearts game on Alba Sunday night and Hearts were absolutely terrible. In fact I thought they were worse than us on Saturday. For me the only reason only two goals were lost was that Thistle were not a great deal better. Other teams seem to have the ability to grind out results when not playing well, we don't.
  8. Suspect it was the latter. And anyway I've always had the impression McGhee wasn't very much of a "team" man.
  9. I suspect the changes I would like to see will not happen. Cannot see the new management team being too willing to make wholesale changes. Griffiths in goal, cant be any worse, there's not a fan with any confidence in Samson so why would the rest of the defense be any different. Back four of Tait if fit Heneghan McHugh and McMillan. We need goals so I would like see us try something like Moult up front with Bowman and McDonald behind them. My logic there is he is having to track back now even as striker. Midfield support Cadden, Campbell, and Pearson. Tin hat on and well protected in the bunker!.
  10. Thanks. In among some of the most depressing suggestions made on here and elsewhere this appealed to my sense of humor and brought a smile. Yes I do know we are all entitled to an opinion.
  11. He makes McGhee look like Vern Cotter in the pish talking stakes. right about now I would take Vern Cotter if he could introduce just some of the passion shown on Murrayfield on Saturday.
  12. After reading the alternatives to McGhie on this thread I am glad I only have a electric oven.
  13. Nice to get a dose of optimism this early in the morning. Well it is early for me. Ok McManus blundered at end of Ibrox cup tie but he wasn't to blame for 14 goals since then. Suspect we will appreciate his input over next few games, especially without a recognised left back in place and without a goalkeeper to catch crosses. Who to replace him? 4 options? 1) Jules - played almost 2 full games, 2 major errors and caused 2 goals. Main concerns are very one footed and looks like needs a rocket up his backside, strolls about. 2) Ferguson - has looked totally out of place, any time played on left hand side. Would need Henaghan moved to left centre half. 3) McHugh - has played centre half before but have to assume not very good or why changed to a midfielder? Main concern that by plugging one problem area we would cause another one, since would weaken midfield not having McHugh there, have lost 12 - 2 since McHugh ordered off. 4) McGuire - young but further forward as a player than Hall was a year ago. Totally comfortable at left centre half. Possibly outstanding future talent in current u20's. Concern is whether he is physically ready at this stage. Craigan should know. No matter who you choose it's a gamble but one we need to get right. Could be season defining. Get it wrong and we are up shit creek. My preference - no. 4 - it's his natural position.
  14. Agree with most of this, not sure he should get any credit for developing assets. Two things especially annoyed me over the last few days, 1) game preview that said a draw took us back to top six. that set the script for last night, and 2) I don't want to read of any Motherwell man manager or not giving to the press his opinion on who should be considered for the Rangers position. For me the next 5 games are especially critical, Celtic avoiding another embarrassment is probably the best we can hope for, Dundee, Kilmarnock and St. Johnstone 3 of the four after that and if we fail to gain wins against them McGhie should be told his contract will not be renewed. INMO of course.
  15. How many thrashings does it take for McGhie to realise we cant do defensive formations. Tell him NOW his contract will not be renewed.
  16. Or Trump "Alternative Facts" Positively my last comment on this. I do not do twitter and when I see how this has escalated i am pleased about that. what I believed I was posting on was a supposed tweet attributed to Kennedy containing the word "treated" and nothing whatsoever to do with a follow up by Wes Fletcher. Like a lot of tweets they are open to conjecture. Finally Steelboy when you dislike a player or former player you can't just leave it that you have to take it to the next level of hate in your posts.
  17. Sorry if I have made it even more confusing. What I meant was the word "Treated " in that sentence was open to the readers opinion. Did he mean the medical treatment received for his hip injury or how he has been treated by the club over this period out with injury. I was also trying to say he should have maybe used "I have" instead of "you have" if it was a personal gripe. Apologies for being pedantic.
  18. Is "Treated" any more strange than "you've" in the quote when I think he means the singular I've. Guess it can be taken any way you want.
  19. Good to see my earlier attempts at sarcasm got the team selections moving. Samson Tait Heneghan McManus Jules Cadden Lucas Clay Frear Moult Bowman/Blyth. With Clay in defensively for McHugh. Although I would not mind Campbell doing that job.
  20. In an ever more slightly serious note the names that are not used in tonights U20 game can go in the hat.
  21. Surprisingly no comment on this thread about team selection so here goes. McGhie: paper and pencil to hand. Samson, Hammell, Lasley, McManus, Chalmers, Moult. Now where did I put that pin.
  22. Was aware of Uefa ruling yet driving thro Lanark yesterday saw board outside a pub advertising it live?.
  23. In my opinion you have to appreciate the difference in the junior set up now and a lot of years ago. Then the juniors were mostly made up of young players with skill and talent to be developed, much like the U20s today. Might just be my perception of course but "junior teams" now are mostly made up of old and/or failed professional players. There will be very few Joe Warks or even further back Pat Quinn, Willie Hunter to be found there now.
  24. Ciftci is more likely to get 2 or 3 years.
