  1. Michael has a lot to do to convince me he should be our No1. The first goal on Sun was most unfortunate, a simple slip of the foot, but coming so early did`nt do anything for his confidence. He seemed to have weathered the storm but just minutes before half-time gave a rather panicky clearance which put Reynolds in problems and resulted in a needless corner. Daly`s shot, although well struck, went right through Fraser. Start of second half, another slip and Conway leaves the defence trailing but our last line of defence was pathetic - straight through him as if he was`nt there. Flatters to deceive and certainly doesnt command his area which results in the whole defence having the jitters. Hope we can get Big John back for the last few critical games or - I`m afraid its bye bye to a Europa place.
  2. The problem was that we watered the "pitch" before kick off. Is it just a coincidence that the three slips were all on the grassy bits of the park - a) Fraser in goal area b) Coke in penalty area - albeit with a thump from bruiser Daly c) Humph on one bit of grass in front of East Stand. On reflection United did`nt seem to have any problems - maybe we should invest in some of those snazzy yellow boots!!!
  3. Would rather see Hearts making top six. I fancy St. Jon would give us a harder fight for that fifth place. But we`re going to chase that fourth place and with a little rub of luck I think we`ll make it.
  4. Craig and Jim O`Brian are scheduled to do the press conference to-morrow. I just hope that on Sat we come out with a fast strong performance after a weeks rest and we dont regret the fact that a winning run was disrupted.
  5. To confirm a top six place with three games to go before the split is an amazing achievement for this season. Thanks must go to Jim Gannon for signing players and trying to get them playing a decent brand of football, and to Craig and Archie for galvanising those same players (with some recalls) into a stronger and more resiliant unit.

    John Ruddy

Johnstone, Weir, McCloy, McCrae, Dykstra, Maxwell - some of the great goalies to grace the Fir Park goalmouth but IMO John Ruddy in his short time at Fir Park has turned in performances that emulate that of "The Goalie" down Govan way (and we can all recognise the influence he had on winning Championships) It`s a pity big John will not be at Fir Park long enough to enjoy true legend status, but what a performance, and still more to come I hope. ps. I have`nt even mentioned Buzz and to-nights performance by him tells you why.

    Bounce Game

Good to see midfield trio giving Craig and Archie food for thought. Nothing like good competition to keep everyone on their toes. Bring on the Utd.
  8. F antastic day outside the stadium. As I said on the day - great sunshine, great crack with many old lost fans, pity we had to go inside and waste it all. However as an optimistic `Well fan, we live for these rare moments.
  9. Jim Gannon proved he has a good eye for a player and a strong belief in coaching young players in a fair and attractive style of football. Unfortunately he was unable to commit himself fully to fullfilling this dream for whatever personal reasons, and as stated earlier, would appear to have been working to-wards an early exit which resulted in poor man management and a string of bad results. Craig Brown , on the other hand, came in with a smile on his face and did what all great managers do - blend players into a working unit and tell them to go out and enjoy the moment. Long may we enjoy moments like the first 30min on Saturday. I can`t wait to get to Tannadice when I hope the players will come out the traps eager to make up for their week off,
  10. Great to see Craig`s contribution being recognised. I always thought he had done a great job with Scotland, and always had to take quite a bit of stick for supporting him then. But we mus`nt forget Jim Gannons contribution as he managed to provide a number of gems (Ruddy, Hately, Jennings, Humphries & Coke) and was`nt afraid to play the younger players provided by our youth system.
  11. Our young team will become accustomed to controlling games against 10men teams, but Jim Gannon recognises their limitations (he says the same mistakes are being made in training) and I`m sure he will sort it out in due course. Definately punching above our weight for a team in its infancy with inexperienced players. Long may they continue to surprise us - onward and upward.
