He was left with no chance of covering the late arrivals.Maybe slightly unkind but for their second Big Mick made a particularly feeble attempt to stick out a leg and deflect the cross ball away. Arthritis maybe affecting him in the wet weather? -
An epic piece of prose, my man. You're seeing a whole team of shrinks, aren't you? Or, and this is just a guess, are you Tony Straker in disguise?

A decent keeper with better than average distribution Sadly 6 foot isn't tall enough, and he's just not big framed enough for the rigours of the SPL. That's another wage back in the war chest anyway

I'm astounded at the criticism of Hammell. He is a rare commodity, a player who is a left back to trade, who gives a natural balance to a back four. He doesn't flap under pressure , contributes in attack. For a relatively short guy, he wins a ridiculous amount of headers. He's never been world class, but he is worthy custodian of the the magical number 3 jersey. Clearly he has adapted his game as he's got older, but if you're looking to apportion faults in our defence I think he has many more pluses than minuses.

Time for some detention after lessons then. As for throw-ins , I can personally vouch for watching us doing the same thing since 1970. -

Shoddy set piece defending from us I'm afraid. County are another side with a repertoire of set pieces, why don't we do our homework? Or even spend some time doing our own set pieces? Or dare I resurrect the perennial question around us taking an eternity to take shit throw-ins all the time. It would be anoraky but interesting to see how may minutes we waste every game, standing around before aimlessly shelling the ball to any one of our statue like options. Bit of a rant I know , but it does my tits in. Please spend some time on these things, ffs what harm can it do??? -
Any whispers on Stevie Hammells state of health? MM was being somewhat over-theatrical with his Wenger-style" I deed not see a thing" nonsense at the post match presser .

For me the problem with Las is that he is at full stretch in too many tackles and consequently out of the play even if he wins the challenge . He's looked exposed since the departure of Grimshaw. Peach of a strike late on though. Time and tide wait for no man, sadly... Needs to develop into the holding role but I'm not sure his distribution is good enough.

As I said, Skippy suffered from pish poor passing into him time and time again. Double edge sword from him dropping deep We held our own in midfield as a result , but were short in numbers consequently up front. Cadden will learn game craft and positional sense, but preferably not at the cost of conceding points . His ball watching was really noticeable on a number of occasions. There's promise there, hopefully not in the Fagan/ Carswell mode though

Skippy by a country mile. Worked like a dog throughout . He also made those around him look a lot less pish than they actually are at passing a ball. His ability to take the most misdirected and over hit passes and move the ball along is unsurpassed, just think how much damage he could do if he got decent service.

Too sluggish getting into their box Their number 2 s headed clearance from under the bar and the keepers stop from Las made sure we took nothing . I would have to say that if Hammells injury is bad then that's a far bigger issue than dropping three points today. That said, reading this thread you'd think Chalmers sold the jerseys today. He's slow as a week in the jail but he has played worse. Cadden started poorly but contributed more as the game progressed. There's potential there but we need more dig and composure in the middle of the park immediately. Skippy worked his arse off, making dozens of passes to him look a lot better than they actually were. He had to do too much too deep too often, which compromised Louis Moults ability to interplay -
"Johnson, 25, is being lined up as a back-up option should Bournemouth's move for Phillips fail to materialise" Matt Philips is rated at £8million- obviously your Plan B is a 400k winger- YOU CANNOT BE SERIOUS Mischief making methinks, although I think we should give some serious thought to anything north of the £2million mark

I'm sure he's a world beater at fives, but the simple fact is that a decent level of pace just isn't a preference these days, it's a necessity. It's not as if he's an old head who should be in ahead of the likes of Watt, he just looks like an old pair of legs. I suspect we'll add to the squad with a couple of loan players, but more than likely at the end of the window, when the bargain clearance bins are rolled out. If you're on a Cash Converters budget, you shop accordingly . Unlikely that we will find an uncut diamond to polish, but hopefully a decent turd we can roll in glitter .

A team selection that beggared belief A team that clearly got exactly what they believed they were going to get A very bad day at the office. MAKE MISTAKES LEARN FROM THEM MOVE ON

2 interpretations of McGhee bumming up Ainsworth today - he's actually going to give him a start to see if he can operate defensively too Or - someone's sniffing round and he's trying to talk up his fee Think it's called managing, whatever next?

Best of luck to him, but I'm not going to be nipping into Terry's for an "l❤️George" number any time soon.Ripley will do me for the rest of the season, now where's my "Aspiring Midfield Generals available for a song" catalogue?

One swallow doesn't make a summer.lost count of the number of folk who thought George Long was a world beater based on his Play-Off performances, clearly the same people didn't witness his typically fumbling performances

A midfield with Carswell in it is a threadbare midfield. He promised early , then failed lamentably to take the step up to become a first pick.Move on,

Is it just coincidence that Big Marv has looked twice the player since Stevie Hammell returned? Joe Chalmers was an odd rapid signing straight after the play off, sadly a pace-less wonder. Grimshaw has been a standout, keeping him would be the best deal we could make. Fletcher seems to be MIA too, can't see him appealing to anyone out on loan, Craig Reid makes Chalmers look like Cafu too, presumably he can't be loaned out to a second club though? We need to ship enough out to bring in a central midfielder , but who?
