  1. To be fair shitting up a wall is a talent in itself...The lure of the filthy luchre is a path well trodden and it will always be so, I'm afraid If you're looking for the Corinthian spirit then the Spiders is your best bet
  2. And the moral of the story? There must be a right way to Oldham Matron ! My medication please...
  3. A series of unfortunate events culminating in a rash instinctive attempt at a block. -Robinson came on and had an absolute 'mate -Cadden came on and we couldn't retain possession sufficiently to run the clock down - their final surge was met by various powderpuff challenges Lessons learned, two points dropped, we move on , buoyed by the fact that we didn't cave in when we went a goal down and confident that we're doing much more right than wrong these days.
  4. It's all about the money, money We need better in, so we need to shift bodies out when we can. Ainsworth is a 28 year old peripatetic winger, a decent offer for him cannot be sneezed at. The longer he stays , the lower the return£££....
  5. Robinson played like a man who got new feet for Christmas, unfortunately they clearly didn't come with instructions...
  6. Ainsworth is unplayable on his day, but he's the stereotypical erratic winger. I'd happily take the money we'll get from the 18 months he has left on his contract. To be honest I'd be happy to acquire another midfielder with more positional sense and look to farm Dom Thomas out on loan, he would develop better getting 90 minutes at a lower level every week
  7. Hope it's not just a Cameo appearance - if it is , I hope he does "Word Up"
  8. New League Cup preferable to friendlies? So we're just gonna plough right in and start competitive games? My arse, they'll still be kicking off with the usual crop of "give us a tenner and watch your heroes try to raise a sweat" friendlies - just even earlier...
  9. Sadly any representation at Scottish youth level almost never carried through into the first team. Much criticism of the U20s lately, I can see their point , watching the footage it looks poles apart from genuine competitive football, the gulf between it and SPL is massive. Needs revamping to close the gap
  10. Just driven thru the West End It's not wet , it's biblically wet and blowing a gale If it carries on like this the game will be a total lottery, Firhill for gills!
  11. Wasn't there on Saturday, was away in snow bound Oban, but my son reckoned their second moved a fair bit in the air apart from dipping in too. Seems harsh to apportion the blame to Ripley exclusively TV would suggest Lasley could've been sharper in closing down the space available for the shot.
  12. My abiding memory of Imrie was a(Clyde?) game where he swivelled and cracked a volley of his own bar, cause he forgot what way he was shooting . On a more pertinent note I think Mr McGhee is pushing his luck on the "experimenting and judging the squad" . Ok up to a point but I'm tiring of it.
  13. Perfect Saturday An utterly shit shift at work Frozen to the bone Three nil capitulation Jake Taylor starts a game - bet my f cking lottery doesn't come up either...
  14. To be honest I'm not despondent after yesterday still lots to work on but clear progress. We have tightened up defensively and formation- wise. Still not quite there up front though, Moult is the one guy I would say merits a start, he's scoring regularly and his work rate is miles beyond the other forwards. Robinson has obvious pace, Fletcher obvious strength , Skippy has the guile but is clearly off the boil, and Clarky.... He once scored for Scotland ! So the obvious second man is.....?
  15. Grimshaw for me. Aggression, combativity, unlucky with the shot off the bar. Never hid and had the composure to try to look around for the right pass. Gets better by the week. Other contenders were Law- who played a solid attacking right back role- and Moult - whose work rate was prodigious again, squeezed his goal in from a really tight angle, and if he was two inches taller might have buried a couple of headers
  16. F ck me mate , Grimshaw almost broke the bar, won more challenges in the second half than Carswell has won since he was born, and he actually held the ball time after time looking for a pass rather than just offloading it anywhere. He's not a step up from Crabswell, he's on another floor altogether ... Pearson was clearly under orders to be more disciplined positionally, shame he just couldn't button his lip and earned a totally needless yellow
  17. We've been much worse - and won. Ripley- good pen save, bad luck with the deflection and the worldy from the enigmatic Vigurs. Law- a great shift, confidence flooding back finally Chalmers- turns like the Exon Valdiz. Painfully slow thought processes, too slow to interplay with Marv Kennedy- assured and not seriously tested. McManus- red card late on, harsh but he's too long in the tooth to be caught out. Not smart Ainsworth - worked with Law and tracked back. But didn't do enough offensively , first half shot on for his left but pissed about trying to move it to his left . Great ball for the goal. Grimshaw- MOTM by a mile. Aggressive, combative. Looked to pick a pass, composed enough to keep possession while looking for options. Unlucky almost broke the crossbar first half Pearson - more positionally disciplined than of late. Drove forward and tried to "steal" the ball . Too much yapping after the goal, stupid booking. Johnson - worked hard defensively, a few runs but not far enough up the park to matter. Switched wings second half, didn't work cos he just doesn't cut inside and shoot Moult- 90 minutes graft, took his goal well. Slim pickings in terms of decent ball to him. Selfless and tireless work rate McDonald- still off the pace, poor interplay. Bad decisions when passing Fletcher an Robinson - too late to matter Just not our day- but I see improvement Hammell hopefully fit after the break, McDonald needs benched for Robinson against Cpunty Laing and Kennedy- no choice - thanks to McManus's red( not clever)
  18. His goal was a great finish to squeeze in at the back post, and he ran his arse off all day, maybe he can take Skippy aside and give him a few tips. Our little Aussie's best run was the one off the park when he got subbed. He seems to have acquired the dreaded"Lehman's First Touch" affliction
  19. Absentia is lovely at this time of year, I was there last Saturday- and we won . Couldn't do that every week though, I mean how dull would winning every week get?0
  20. The Blue Brazil, "Jairzihno" Kerr...
  21. Not sure how good the Tunisian hand to hand combat module is though
  22. Just banging the drum for those of us who don't see confrontation and civil liberty outrage as an integral part of our matchday experience.Question of perspective, I suppose
