  1. Hoping he stays a while longer also, think he is doing an excellent job when you consider he has to rebuild every summer. Wont be surprised if one of the Edinburgh clubs did make a move.
  2. I wish both them and their great pals from across Glasgow could get their wish and move to England. Just think Scottish football would be so much more competitive and would be great starting a season with a genuine chance of winning either the league or one of the two cups.
  3. Got a copy of Terry Butcher's book years ago when he was our manager. Sure he mentions in it something about wearing green one day and Davie Cooper threatening to rip it off him, something like that anyway. Seem to remember around the time of its release a lot of their followers were calling Butcher for everything about something else he was meant to have said about Davie.
  4. Used to have a soft spot for Boyd even when he was the Celtic captain but in recent years he has showed his true colours. Boyd's comments are the type you would expect to hear from your average paranoid Celtic fan who believes the refs are all out to get them, Without wanting to slate our 1991 Captain Boyd definetly is one of them.
  5. I don't think for a minute it will be an easy game on Friday but will gutted if we end up going out to this mob especially with home advantage as they are definetly there for the taking. They have been poor for most of 2019, despite being in the top 6 last season and a final, which maybe says more about the teams below them.
  6. Agree, I don't think Gillespie should be dropped at all at this moment in time.
  7. Do your get point about being top European scorer. Although some of the opposition wasn't the best someone still had to score them, some important cup goals like you say and my memory is probably clouded by a lot of poor performances at the time against the old firm where to be fair to Murphy he probably wasn't any worse than most of his teammates.
  8. Appreciate he left us in a good manner, gave the club great service and showed dignity on his return when scoring but not really excited by the prospect of Murphy returning if honest. No doubting the boy has talent but too often in his time with us he failed to show up in the really big games. Not convinced he is what we need right now.
  9. Good to see the Colts doing well, hopefully get a similar run to the one we had last year.
  10. Not expecting anything from this game but hope we give them a right good game as we have done in the recent past at home and see what happens. Not too concerned about the fact they put 7 past St Johnstone either when you see they lost to the likes of Montrose and Forfar
  11. A very tough game in prospect and the Well to come away with a 1-0 victory
  12. Ben Hall linked with a move to Partick Thistle having been released from Brighton
  13. I thought the first half of the 17/18 season was pretty decent in the league right up til December. Remember winning at Dens Park in a midweek game to go third, above Rangers at the time. Tanner scoring that game as he did against Dundee in most of the games that season.
  14. Interesting read and great to see he gave more playing time to academy graduates than any club in Britain last season. Probably just saying that about Sevco to please the media etc. The only people who think they are a world class club are themselves really.
  15. It is the tie of the round for sure and every chance it will be the televised game. Wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't and the East Fife Sevco game is on though. Would have preferred an easier tie but definetly fancy our chances especially at home.
  16. I definetly fancy us for top 6 this year. Think Killie will be the team to drop out this year after Clarke leaving and especially after the euro result. Also fancy at least one trip to Hampden, have a feeling it will be in the Betfred cup before losing out to one of the ugly sisters with a dodgy decision.
  17. Pleased with this as well, apart from the first few months of last season I think he has done a more than decent job overall in his time in charge. Know a few people are still not convinced but it is the same with every manager we have.
  18. Jim Gannon is a name that always seems to split opinion amongst the Well fans be it good or bad. Said earlier in this topic I quite enjoyed his time in charge. The 8-1 European game sticks in my head as a game as one of my favourite Well games I really enjoyed looking back. One thing I will say is we have a better man who cares more about our club in charge at the minute.
  19. Apparently after a play off game in 2008 for Stockport Gannon refused to speak to Sky TV after they had failed to fix his sky box at home.
  20. Despite the fact he was definetly a bit of a loose cannon and it was best for him to go at the time as he didn't seem committed I quite enjoyed his time in charge in a way. Had a good eye for a player and brought some good additions to the squad. Also gave the youth a chance though sometimes too much. Laid the foundations as well for the likes of Craig Brown and Stuart McCall to have success with the European qualifications. Enjoyed the European run that season and felt like a bit of an achievement in a way winning two ties and drawing Steaua when you consider the mess we were in when McGhee left us first time. One of my favourite stories of Gannon was hearing he had the blazing row on the team bus at Port Vale and was dropped off the bus at the next service station. Also the one about the dispute with the sky box as well.
  21. Excellent news about Turnbull Hopefully Celtic now pursue their other options that John Kennedy previously spoke of and don't bother coming back in for him in January either.
  22. Robbo seems quite happy where he is and appears to have a good relationship with Burrows so I would be hoping he stays for at least another season or two.
  23. Both Celtic and Rangers fans are just as bad as each other in that sense. I have a friend who is a Rangers fan who thinks the old firm game is the biggest game in world football and everyone in Scotland is seriously interested in it. The fans of those two hold their respective clubs in such high regard that they genuinely think the fans of all the other clubs secretly support them or the other side as well. As for Dalglish commenting on Turnbull being a Celtic fan he was no doubt advised by someone in the media that this was the case.
  24. Thought John Spencer would go on to have a bigger impact than he eventually did. I remember when we made his loan spell permanent there was a lot of media attention surrounding it. He did a decent job but out of him and Brannan at the time Brannan was the more consistent of the two.
