The form he was in I have no doubt he would have continued to score Was hoping as well he would be here at least til the end of the transfer window and banged in a few more league, and cup goals by then
-
Totally agree , Kevin will be missed for sure Will always remember the last 3 months of this season especially
-
All the best King Kevin You will definitely be missed at Fir Park
-
Happy enough for Obika to sign on for another season . Good player for St Mirren and definetly not seen the best of him yet
-
Definetly will be an interesting read , there is at least a good 140 pages Motherwell related Interesting as well that in 1998 Owen Coyle was the other contender for the manager along with wee Billy On the subject of Gascoigne/Cooper also , two great players in Scottish football, Gazza was indeed done in 2000 and would have been a costly mistake Definetly biased towards the Coop though for obvious reasons
-
Quite happy for Liam Kelly to be the Well goalie much longer , he has made some blunders though few and far between compared with the saves to keep us in certain games . Could end up with worse
-
My copy came in today , and looks like there is a lot of Well related stuff in this The unfortunate death of youth player Andy Thomson in 1998 , talks about the late Andy Goram as well and the build up to the 7-1 defeat against Glasgow’s other mob
-
Seem to remember there being some fall out between Jim Griffin and wee Billy , but can’t remember what the story was He ended up at Motherwell College doing sport and fitness not long after as he was my mates tutor

One we were linked with I remember was Gazza . Sure I remember it was quoted we would use some of the gate receipts to fund the deal , was never ever happening . Ended up at Everton a few weeks later

Was a fan of both Brannan and Spencer , but definitely been more enjoyable times in the years since Main reason I was interested in reading as the late 90s/early 00s was probably the time when I was most obsessed with all things Motherwell. At times we were brutal on the park to watch , Davies last year or so in charge springs to mind but in those days I used to enjoy going to the Reserve games also on a Monday night where we witnessed the birth of Faddy etc

Remember that 3-2 game against Celtic you mentioned , Townsley did indeed have a great that night , Fir Park was bouncing that game Think JB did have our best intentions, but at the same time lived in a bit of a fantasy world. In hindsight we have done better as a club in the years since
-
Forgot about Derek the Postman , think his best game at Fir Park was in a Hibs Shirt when they beat us 2-0
-
Was a great footballer like you say for the likes of Aston Villa , by the time he came to us I remember thinking it would be a great signing , though not the case
-
Looking back to the late 90s/early 2000s we signed some amount of dross back then Along with the likes of John Davies , there was Holm Kraska , Jered Stirling , Andy Dow , Gunni Johnson I think his name was , Karl Ready , Sasa Curcic , Kevin Christie . Sure there are many others For the amount of money invested that era , results over a 3/4 year period were overall quite poor with the exception of the 99/00 season
-
Pat Nevin strikes me as a totally decent guy , though at the same time a guy who was on a power trip Should make for interesting reading as it seems the Motherwell era is featured a bit
-
Since it is the boring part of the season did anyone read about the Pat Nevin story about wee Billy Davies yesterday convinced his office was being bugged and wanted to find out if there was listening devices ? Don’t mind wee Billy Davies at all, but always striked me as being paranoid Pat Nevin , my personal opinion an interesting character , always will be associated with the Administration era but looking back John Boyle must have been pulling the strings , and Nevin was the guy everyone hated back then

League Cup 2023/24 Discussion Thread
twistandshout1983 replied to Toxteth O'Grady's topic in Club Chat
Hopefully a strong start in this group setting us up for a good start in the league and a run to Hampden , similar to 2017 -
That is the one I last remember also we had for 2 years. 11/13 seasons A great 2 years
-
I know I am in a very small small minority here but I was a fan of last season’s home kit, it is actually one of my favourites in recent years I totally get why people look for a traditional looking Well kit, my favourite of all time for example was the 1994-1996 home kit Though I am definitely not against the idea of something that looks slightly different now and then , what looked worse for me was the 2004/2006 home kit with the blue Zoom Airlines lettering across the front . Have happy memories of that era though

Remember the one after a defeat at Falkirk as well in his first spell “I’m not here to please the fans , I’m only here to manage the team “ I will say one thing about Marky boy , he had confidence in his own ability, my first thought when I heard he was coming back in 2015 was , aw naw no him again
-
Another good 3 points today Beautiful Sunday Well fans
-
Was never a fan of Graham Alexander but strikes me as a good guy and wish him the best at MK Dons His team may have been brutal to watch at times but on the plus side he did sign King Kevin , and surely the only Well manager to be unbeaten at Ibrox in a season , of course qualifying for Europe too though won’t mention the S word
-
Amazing for Luton , sure they were in the conference about 10 years ago or so . Proper rags to riches tale
