The 'Magnificent' David Turnbull Discussion Thread
FirParkCornerExile replied to sailor_h's topic in Club Chat
For the average punter what will be the benefits of the transfer money? It won't realise players much better than we have cos these players have a price tag. It will help develop youth but thats getting to the stage we don't even get their benefit before they are sold and balance sheet improves. Im not decrying the club or the board Im just telling it like it is. The money won't make much difference to what we see on the park. -

We do in effect support a balance sheet along with 90% of the rest of Scottish clubs its a model that has remarkably kept punters coming back but does little to attract new and floating fans and never will do. If you told golfing fans only two players would win the majors for the next forty years support would plummet from current levels. -

Exactly hes an ex Motherwell player now don't. Mind you none of the Celtic fans seem to have picked up on the "next stage of my development comment" he doesn't see Celtic anything other than a stepping stone. They are just a bigger diddy club that feeds bigger clubs -

I suspect we wont be spending any of it on transfer fees .. transfer fees go toward better class of player who demand higher wages than we pay. -

No way should he get pelters folk need to remember he didnt need to sign a 3 year contract he did so out of a love of the club and to safeguard us he could have done what Hastie did and we get fuck all. -

if true our club owes a huge debt to David Turnbull he signed a 3 year contract when he didn't need to but basically to ensure the club was taken care of -

i find the "kept up to date with transfer developments" very odd ... why would they want to be kept up to date? .....so when someone they don't like comes in they can say we want him. If Man City want him they could get him they know he's available so what is there to be kept up to date with -

He should worry not ending up playing for those tramps. David Turnbull will do alright wherever he goes and so will Motherwell. The facts hes not "Celtic Minded" and star struck by the manky mob just makes the process that wee bit more enjoyable. -

Maybe he's like many of us and detests the Green and Grey Hoop mob. LOL -
Id seriously love to know what McGhee thought he could do with Bob Malcolm a serious lump of wood before he signed and by the time he left a lump of wood would have been better. Every manager will "think" a player will improve what they have even when the facts put in front of them have a serious chance of proving that assumption wrong.
-
your splitting hairs whether he was suspended 4 or 5 days before doesnt change a thing. Hibs are highly unlike;y to have rushed out to sign Bigi the day after Lennon left and have it all settled in 4 days. Anyway even if they did my original point stands experienced managers are capable of and often do sign utter shite.
-
Bigi was signed by Hibs for 31st Jan deadline, Hibs and Lennon parted company on 30th January. i think its pretty safe to say Lennon would have been involved in that signing.
-
so he thought ill sign dross cos i know im leaving, somehow I dont see that as the reason he signed bigirami
-
Yeah quite often they do. Just because they are experienced managers doesnt mean they dont sign dross. Neil Lennon signed Bigrimani . Mark McGhee signed Bob Malcolm.
-
Yep Hes nearly as lucky as Bigirami getting a gig at Hibs , based on nothing and came to nothing. I expect similar from Main at Aberdeen.
-
Yes he was , couldnt hold of a challenge if his life depended on it, he no loss on the form he had with us. Thats not to say he wont change at Aberdeen.

2018/2019 Game 35:Dundee (H) April 27th 3pm Kick off
FirParkCornerExile replied to daver's topic in Club Chat
or our utterly shambolic defence. I really hope Robinson has some new options for next season the goals we have lost to Celtic , Rangers, Accies and Dundee are an embarrassment. However the team do deserve buckets of credit for winning with 10 men. -
why feel sorry for him he opportunities and money given to him that 90% of the working population would kill for.

what for impersonating a footballer

2018/19 Game 30: Hibs (A) March 16th 3pm kick off
FirParkCornerExile replied to texanwellfan's topic in Club Chat
I thought Hibs were pish, we didnt have 50% possession cos we were good. Hibs gave us the ball time n again their distribution was piss poor sadly ours was even worse and we gave them the ball straight back. Hibs won comfortably cos we were rank. A half decent performance from us would have got a point at least. -
I can tell you plenty players who looked the real deal as youths and came to nothing.
-
how do most of us not know that Hastie wasnt bang average a year ago and the club didnt feel he was worth an extension . How do most of us know that he still isnt just a bang average player. 20/20 hindsight is a wonderful thing. Everyone remember the knashing of teeth and annoyance when Robbie Leitch legged it.. someone remind me what has his career done? Hastie could be a big pile of pish in the long run, lets keep it all in perspective. If he goes we move on.
-
Well fans shouldnt be raging they should be realistic .. if fans are daft enough to believe a player or manager when they talk about contracts and their intentions before they actually commit pen to paper they deserve to be disappointed...... football is a dirty game full of double speak and liars .. its just the nature of the product. Honest brokers are few and far between. life goes on
-
LOL why would it put rumours to bed. Footballers and their agents could hide behind a corkscrew when it comes to comments about their future. The game is littered with players talking utter bollocks to cover all angles. The only time to believe what a player says about signing a contract is 1 second after its signed. Up until then everything that's uttered should be treated as bullshit

When you play shite all season and get papped out the Cup at first time of asking its no surprise the wage bill needs cut.
