2018'19 Game 7: Kilmarnock (A) Saturday 29th September 2018

I see it as it will be when the debt is paid off, i’m taking it Robinson has only received a fraction of that money ? -
And again run the club at a heavy loss putting it in danger of administration and the process of getter it back on an even keel starts again. Until the debt is paid off we will continue to sign journeymen, some will pan out and others won’t. Couple of quality additions who no doubt would break the wage structure ? We had those under Barraclough and McGee, one sat on the bench most games and the other one showed us his skills every one in five games before heading off to the championship to again do nothing. Biggest successes over the last three years and players that actually moved on making the club good money ? All players no one had heard of.
-
How many of them played a team in the final head and shoulders above everyone else quality and budget wise ? I was at the Inverness final and they had nothing to beat. It’s the same as this line that we were lucky to get there after beating Hearts, Aberdeen twice, and Rangers, it’s tosh. I’m amazed on here at times how as supporters of a small premiership club we seem to enjoy putting our own team down after they have actually done something. The games in the quarter and semis were fantastic and the players game everything as they did in the final. The club also made very decent money that I have no doubt helped pay off more of the debt. That in itself should see the club in a healthier position moving forward.

The real pressure on Robinson starts tomorrow because another defeat will probably see the support base in general start to question him. We all know it’s another really difficult game and they come off the back of a home win against Celtic. Kilmarnock are favourites and I would take a point in a heartbeat but fear we will come away with nothing making the Livi game up next huge for him. I want him to stay and think if he’s given a while longer he will turn it around, I am however aware i’m going to be in the minority pretty quickly if results don’t improve. -

Not at the Livi game then ? -
Spot on of course

Yep, he’s done exactly what he was signed to do while clubs with similar playing budgets, Thistle, Dundee United, Ross County, Inverness are now in the championship. The time to judge is the start of November after a run of games we should be picking up points from. If we are bottom two at that point the club will be under pressure to act but at this point not a chance which is as it should be.

The newspaper headline is fantastic for those desperate to see Robinson go, pity it’s not actually an accurate reflection of what he said. Let’s be honest some have wanted him out for a long time and will use anything to push that agenda. Lots of money came into the club last season one way or another and yes a great opportunity to bring real quality into the squad but unless i’m missing something he appears to have been given only a fraction to strengthen, I take it the rest went towards paying off the debt ? As before if we start regularly losing games against clubs at our financial level fair enough questions to be asked, that’s only happened the one time this season in both league and cup against Hamilton and we should have won that. The other defeats were all close games against clubs far bigger than us. The style has changed which is what people were crying out for but it needs to be mixed with what we are good at which is what he was pointing out in the article. St Mirren fans thought getting rid of a manager that had them to a cup final and a decent league position was a great idea, that really went well. Be careful what you wish for, it’s not always greener on that other side.

Don’t see either Bigi being dropped or Sammon starting for the next 9 months.

2018'19 Game 6: Aberdeen (A) Saturday 22nd September 2018

Panic setting in from the usual suspects again. We’ve had a very tough run of fixtures to start the season, if we keep losing to those teams we should be getting something from as we move forward then it’s time to worry and the club will no doubt look at a change f manager. I suspect that won’t happen and we will again finish up in a pretty comfortable position. -

It’s a bit of both, we are signing none league English players and have come up against Hibs, Rangers, Aberdeen, and Hearts losing very close games and getting a point against Rangers, all against clubs with budgets that dwarf ours. The two games we should have been looking to take points from we did against Dundee, and should have against Hamilton. Stats wise I would also say look at the manner of many of those later defeats under McGee, there were some absolute horror shows. Under Robinson we are losing close games by the odd goal with the final third costing us and the organisation of the team next to the shambles under McGhee and Barraclough are very different with players at least knowing what they are supposed to be doing. The fixtures the start of this season have been pretty tough in fairness and we were never going to get through that with too many points in my view but managers live or die by results and he is going to come under pressure for sure until we get a couple of wins. I think it’s also fair to say a minority of fans have never taken to Robinson and dare I say one or two on here have wanted rid of him for the last 12 months regardless. -

I’d by amazed if Cadden or Rose was dropped, other than Carson and Main who will be replaced by Sammon ( I would prefer Bowman) unchanged for me. -
I’m not being negative at all about any player, simply stating play our best 11. I don’t think it’s unfair to question a comparison between the results of the first team and under 20s gven any player is going to perform better against inferior opposition. If we have a player anywhere within the club in a dedicated position that’s better than one already in the first 11 play them. Again though i’m backing the management and coaching staff to have the ability to make an educated decision on that.
-
You can’t compare the two, under 20 games against playing Rangers, Hibs and Hearts first teams is Apples and Oranges. Our first 11 would walk the under 20 league.
-
As a big Aldred fan i’m certainly one of those that was shouting out for his return even when some were saying we had no chance. I personally feel that was money well spent.
-
Personally I just want the best 11 starting every game and if that’s one of them play him. However what I don’t want is a player moved up just because we think they should be because they are playing in the under 20s. I would however say the management and coaching staff probably know a little bit more about each individuals abilities over the course of each week than we do.
-
I guess it’s how good would they be against far better opposition and are they better than who we already have starting every week. I do understand that at some stage they need to be tested but in my view thats probably going to be when we are really struggling for numbers or on a dreadful run with someone way out of form. I personally don’t believe any particular players has had an awful start to the season so at this point I would stick with what we have.
-
Yep, was thinking that myself. Maybe there is no big conspiracy and there is no one at this point actually ready to make the step up.
-
Hard to believe anyone would be that stupid.
-
We did not match them for the first 20 minutes, we were way better for most of the first half but yes the goal changed things. A class above ? They spent 60 minutes falling to the floor time wasting. People really are talking the Hearts team up to a level they don’t deserve. They have a sound defence but much of their game yesterday was built on a strong physical approach playing to the ref. When we do that one or two state it’s relegation material.
-
Robinson got it spot on with his post match comments. We more than matched a team with a massive budget next to ours and it’s that final third that again let us down, lots of positives. However the cup tie is again going to be a big ask with their resources.
