The difference has been Watt. We’ve had a run of games where we would have picked up points if he’d been playing, I’ve no doubt about that. But the standard off football this season from just about everyone has been awful with the best game been the opener against a Hibs who also look as bad as us these days, how Aberdeen can be so poor with their budget is also baffling.

The consistency needs to be in the full 11, one area effects another. GA has lost his way a little and he’s desperately looking for an answer which he won’t find by chopping and changing every game. We should have pushed the boat out slightly for a Watt replacement, that alone would have made a big difference. Other than that I still believe the players are better than they are looking just now, including those midfielders. Confidence has dropped, they’re getting abuse from the stands, and there is no consistency in the starting 11. I don’t believe Alexander will be sacked and there is no reason he should be but he needs to sit down and have a think about how he wants us to move forward. Difficulty next couple of games for our manager but that’s the job at times. Ross county supporters hit it lucky with their change of manager, every other change this season has been a failure and we have to hope Alexander can turn it around otherwise it’s going to cost the club a substantial amount of money to get rid of him with a real fear the next guy will yet again be no better.

I guess the answer there is don’t give our own players dogs abuse. Can anyone name a single time that supporters abusing their own players has actually improved things ? All that happens is they go into hiding or down tools. GA needs to pick a starting 11 and baring injuries stick with it, the constant chopping and changing never bring success.

Nothing is a given this year. Of course we should be favourites, we had the majority of possession last night, but we lack a goalscorer and it’s costing us.

My question would be if there are better options why are we not signing them ? This is exactly the same argument that we had Robinson and i’v no doubt we will have with the next manager when Alexander is punted. I argued then that the playing budget was at a level that we were never going to sign quality players. We can’t even compete with lower league English clubs and the likes of Dundee. How many players would Alexander like to sign that we can’t afford ? I’m pretty certain we lose out on the majority we approach. It’s simple mathematics. When you look at our crowds we don’t get enough people through the turnstiles and as such we either do a Dundee and end up going into administration or we carry on cutting our cloth. And before anyone says other clubs are doing it better, they are not. The vast majority of clubs in this league are scrabbling around for the same level of player and the football is just as bad. Yes you get the odd exemption for a limited length of time but eventually everyone struggles. It’s a far bigger issue than the manager.

Can we tempt Robinson away from St Mirren ?

It was never going to be an easy game against a team that’s probably as good as anyone in the league just now bar the old firm, they really are much improved. We can’t buy a win these days I’m afraid and I’m just glad we got the points on the board before we sold Watt, he’s terribly missed and we’ve just not been the same since he left.

We have both Efford and Shields who can play in the central role, Tierney just behind could be effective.

The fixtures do look promising on paper, the worry is though that we’re on a poor run and not playing that well. A four or five goal drubbing tomorrow would see confidence take another dip. I think we have a very decent squad but regardless of the fixtures when you’ve not won for a while it’s never easy getting back on track.

I remember Robinson saying McGinley had a huge amount of ability and been isolated in a flat away from home was effecting him, Alexander seems to have the same high opinion. I’m somewhere in the middle in as much as I think he gets too much stick without been blown away, I prefer Carroll.

Yep at 25 he’s either good enough or he’s not, he should be approaching his peak.
