We can take three in this one.

1-0 to the Well

Kelly but I thought that overall McGinley had a solid game especially in the first half.

I think while we stay in the top half there will be zero pressure from the board. I’ve seen and read nothing to suggest they are anything but sensible. Now whether a percentage of the fanbase react is a different matter of course but given Robinson still had plenty of support even after he left I would not expect any sort of full on protest. Personally I think the standard of signing under Alexander is higher than it was under Robinson but others obviously don’t agree.
-
As you know I take a balanced view. What’s our budget and how does that equate to where we should be finishing in the league next to others working on something similar. Robinsons record was acceptable for most of his tenure yet there were calls for his head within months of his appointment, he simply got sick of constantly rebuilding. The last 12 months under Alexander has seen him exceed expectations and we sit 4th in the league and are still in the main cup. Any calls for him to go anytime soon is either trolling, or just plain stupidity.
-
You really are hilarious, at times I’m not sure if it is just trolling.

Mentality is often mentioned and maybe there is some truth in that, but it’s been happening for years with different managers and different squads. I’ve read at times it’s partly due to an acceptance by the fan base. I highly doubt that the likes of me thinking they are too good in advance of the game effects the result any more than me stating we will win against other teams means we’re more likely to win. Look we’re got lower league defenders playing for us, that’s just a fact and as such we’re already at a disadvantage right from the off. If we had a bigger budget with better players would we win games against the old firm, in my view yes. I would accept other teams manage better results than we do at times but simply looking at todays game their passing, speed, movement was too much for us regardless of what formation we played or who we started with.
-
For me this is a Celtic team just getting better and better, they blew Rangers away in 45 minutes midweek. To be fair the manager came in for criticism early on but he’s made a huge difference given the mess they were in.
-
We’re defensively at sea for the most part because we can’t deal with their speed and movement, and that’s back to the quality of their players. It’s not about players not trying or not having a clue. The top level in Scotland is really two different leagues, Celtic and Rangers with huge resources, then the rest. The points difference at the end of the season tells us that. The new guy looks a handful

Thank you.

If they come out second half and play with the same tempo we won’t be able to lay a glove on them. They are ripping us a new one I’m afraid and it’s rather like watching Man City against a championship team. The difference in the quality of individual players, speed, movement, technical ability, we can’t get close to them.
-
Very little against a team with that quality when at the top or their game. There is not a team in the league that could have matched that first half performance. That’s as good a half as I’ve seen from an old firm team against us for a while.
-
Na, tactics have nothing to do with this, it’s down to the quality of individual players. The link up play, speed, and quality of the balls in are at a level above anything we can deal with.
-
Game over, I’m sure individual Motherwell players will get stick but that’s simply down to the difference in the quality of players. The run for the first goal and the strike for the second were all about what Celtic did right, not what we did wrong. Looking at a possible heavy defeat now.
-
We were won’t be pressing and will be standing off them and sitting deep. Van Veen will be totally isolated. Sorry it’s highly likely you’re not going to get what you hope for.
-
It would be way more exciting if Celtic and Rangers buggered off down south and we had a league that just about anyone could genuinely win.
-
I’m not sure St Mirren are any worse than we are, they may actually better.
-
Well results when our way again. We can talk about formations all we like but if Celtic are on it, it won’t make any difference, we don’t have the quality to counteract an in form Celtic. Hopefully they are complacent and think it’s as good as won and we get some form of a sniff. Watt looks like he might be reverting back to form.
-
Bring back Robinson ?
-
So let’s just write off everyone. Sounds like the way the go.
-
Jeez we’re 4th in the table, the negativity is slightly over the top in my view.

We have in players like White, Watt, Main, Danny Johnstone, Shields and I’m sure we’re still looking for the next one but on our wages it must be a nightmare. I can pretty much guarantee we’ve offered a few players a contract to join us and the’ve chosen to go elsewhere. If it’s that easy to sign a proven goalscorer why has every club in the top flight not got one ? White went to Ross County, Main to Aberdeen then St Mirren, Johnstone to Dundee. All players rated as not good enough while with us. Shields is on a 3 year contract and he’s going to need more game time unless we’re already giving up on him which would be a huge waste of money. End of the day though we get one or two poor results and we then get the usual over reaction, we’ve suddenly become an awful team with hardly a decent player at the club. We’re 4th in the league and have had a very successful last 12 months, it’s Motherwell and even as someone that’s not supported the club for decades I believe it’s always been one step forward and one back. If we could suddenly double the home support I’m sure we could sign more consistent players and maybe retain the good one for a while longer but the reality is with have a core home support of 4000 and until that changes we will keep losing the likes of Watt to clubs paying more money.

The way you worded your post suggests you think we would.

The last 3 games are partly down to Alexander in my view, but he’s done very well overall and I would expect him to learn and bounce back.
