This is very much a case of players suddenly being better the minute they left us, both Hartley and Tait took plenty of stick on here. Tait did not accept an offer and only came back when Covid hit then made out it was all the clubs fault, he was slow and past it by all accounts and Hartley was a Dino who just hoofed it up the field. Both O'Donnell and Carroll are better full backs than Tait was when he left. The pair of them have gone and in my view both needed to move on, we simply failed to replace Hartley and that was the actual mistake.

1-2 Aberdeen. Yes we have a good record against them but we’re not playing well and I expect us to be punished, please don’t start with Lamie or Mugabi.
-
When compared to previous managers he’s on a different level. It takes time to build and he’s done it, not sure how much better he could have done. He’s about to walk the league.

I think my argument would be we were’t getting further up the park regardless of who we changed, the mentality was everyone behind the ball and sit deep. When you add in the quality of players Rangers had coming off the bench it was pretty much inevitable in my view. Rangers are probably as far ahead of everyone else now as Celtic have been in the past with real quality right through the squad. I know it’s not generally acceptable to praise a manager of Celtic or Rangers but Gerrard has done a terrific job and if it were not for the fact he will move down south the minute an opportunity comes up I could see Rangers being the dominant force in Scottish football for some time.

I’m going to go against the general feeling that the substitutions cost us yesterday, I don’t actually think it made any difference. We were playing so deep it was only a matter of time regardless.

I think there now has to be question marks on Dunn playing again. Carroll, Donnelly and Carson can’t get back quick enough. We have to sign another centre half, there has to be a solid individual willing to play alongside Gallagher somewhere. Lamie, White, and Mugabi are bench warmers and Hastie will surely be away with hopefully Seedorf also making a move and that has to free up space for at least one wide player, if Long is also out we need another striker, Watt, Lang, and White are never going to score enough goals between them. In my view we need another three/four players minimum.

The problem I have with Mugabi is he does a lot right in many games but he just makes too many basic errors and it’s costing us point after point. If he’s not giving away daft penalties he’s making a mess where there should be no real danger. He’s strong and fairly quick but he’s all over the place with a lot of the basics and there is only so long you can carry on failing to learn from your mistakes. I’m just not convinced he’s ever going to change. I’m still pretty baffled as to why we failed to sign another solid centre half in the summer given Dunn’s injury. OHara is a deep midfielder, Donnally can do a half decent job if needed, and I still think Lamie was signed as more of a squad player. When Hartley went we should have moved quickly to replace him, it never happened.

End of the day we play open football and we get a pumping, we play two banks of 5 and did a half decent job. Nothing to see other than that from today.
-
Huge priority for January in my view.
-
That’s still way better than I thought we would do.
-
I know Lamie and McGinley are seen as the usual suspects but can we please stop playing Mugabi, he’s an absolute bomb scare
-
I’m hoping we can somehow hold on for the first 20 minutes then go from there but I’m not at all confident.

5-1 Rangers. Not even going to follow the game.

As above plenty of others on that list were nowhere near “ Shite”. We would have been relegated long ago if that were the case. To give two examples both Bowman and Main had a period where they were both effective. The Bowman/Moult partnership was excellent.
-
Certainly a strange move if true but a great one for him although he’s got next to no chance of actually playing. I would agree that his problem is probably football intelligence which sounds cruel but watching him he generally seems to have no awareness of what going on around him.
-
A tough watch in truth, not even close to being good enough today.
-
I don’t care.
-
Hi did the right thing by us unlike someone like Cadden so he will always have my support. Just hope he gets a move down south as soon as.
-
Oh god another evening of Robinson out awaits.
-
Agreed
-
Come on there have been plenty of fall guys even in my time.
-
So is it Robinson has done a decent overall job ? Or he is useless and can “get ta f##k” this week ?
-
I don’t get this dislike of McGinley. I know there always has to be a fall guy at Motherwell but I just don’t see how he’s been any better, or worse than most other players in the team. Given he’s new to the club and has had a stop start season with injuries he’s done ok.
-
Shudders. I’d watched him a number of times playing for York and was amazed Motherwell took him on loan. A truly dreadful player.

One of the best signings in my time supporting the club. I wish him well when he inevitable gets his big move.
