  1. Fair enough, I thought he generally played at centre half or left back. Think I read somewhere he has the best heading stats in the division.
  2. Yep Gallagher is left sided, I guess we have the option of moving Tait over to the right and playing him on the left but I assume he’s been signed to play as a centre half, do Hartley or Maguire have a part to play next season ? not sure. A direct replacement for Gorrin is going to be very difficult, as you say he ticked all the boxes, bringing in another player with his all round ability will be next to impossible at our spending level short of getting lucky with an unknown again. We need two strikers who can put the ball in the net, we can’t just rely on Turnbull.
  3. I just hope we can retain him until January, I had thought we may get another season out of him but he’s improving so quickly that someone is surely going to come in with a big offer this summer. Ok Scottish football is not rated down south but he has to be the stand out player up here now.
  4. Quite funny listening to super scoreboard on the way home. A Rangers fan phoned in stating that signing the best player from the likes of Motherwell was not good enough. He had to be informed they had not actually signed the best Motherwell player. Some of these old firm fans seem to be absolutely clueless when it comes to their knowledge of Scottish football. It’s hardly as though Turnbull is flying under the radar these days.
  5. I like to give everyone a chance if possible. But yes our highest points total in the last five years, lots of young players blooded into the first team squad, the debt still dropping, season tickets sales at an all time high, a great team of people at all levels of the club, the Well Society going from strength to strength, and a great set of supporters who love the club.
  6. I think the right decision for both players and the club.
  7. I feel yodo you tend to make decisions on players very quickly, some players need longer than others to bed in, injuries also play a part in that. Donnelly is clearly rated by many in the know or he would not be picking up international caps. I use Gorrin as an example because he was also written off by many ( can’t remember if you were one of them)
  8. Has Dunn ever really changes though ? His strengths are his speed and physicality, his weaknesses his passing ability ( although he has improved) and his timing and awareness.
  9. I still there is a decent player in Donnelly and feel he could actually come good the same way Gorrin did if everyone is patient enough. Certainly some misplayed passes today but also some positive signs.
  10. Personally I would like to see him now given some game time with us, seen him I think 3 times this season playing alongside inferior players and I think he’s ready to make the step up. Not saying he’s ready to start every week but if we’re willing to give Scott game time in my view Maguire should receive the same opportunity.
  11. Maguire has plenty of ability, he just needs time.
  12. So Main also away, Campbell deal close and two new signings announced on Tuesday, a midfielder and a nippy winger from none league.
  13. I would certainly give all the youngsters who may be in line for next season game time n this one. 2-0 to Motherwell.
  14. Oh he’s going to be here without a doubt, unless another club comes in for him which I also can’t see.
  15. I would hope he hits the ground running, may be tough for him if not.
  16. And next season already looks like it’s going to be just as tough with those leaving. We don’t have a lot of real quality left in the squad as it stands, staying up the first objective again.
  17. Dunne has always been errors prone in fairness, he was lucky to get away with at least three challenges last week, in my view St Mirren should have had a penalty forone of his challenges. He’s quick and strong but his timing is terrible at times. In my view which I know many won’t agree with Gorrin is a bigger loss than Hastie.
  18. Maybe then it’s just the case that the standard of Scottish football has dropped in general. Should we base that lack of quality on management across the board and replace half the managers in the country or are there different factors. I would question the “relative to the league” quote. If we indeed have one of the lowest budgets surely that would suggest that in general we will perform to the level of that budget. Anything we do above that budget level is surely more a bonus and if we match it acceptable. I would also question the point regarding the general standard of play. First half of the season it was dreadful for sure, however since Robinson changed it we’ve actually seen some pretty decent stuff. Ok it’s not been Barcelona but then you need to go back and look at the quality of players we are signing and question the general drop in quality of teams throughout the league and question other factors. Scottish football in general is not in good health in my view with very few young Scottish players coming through and then moving on make a real impact in something like the English premier league, the nation team has been going backwards at the same level.
  19. Far harder league now though. Season 2013/14 we had no Rangers, bottom two were Hearts and Hibs, and Aberdeen were still pretty awful.
  20. I was beginning to think it was only me. What finish in the league is deemed acceptable ?
  21. I just enjoy the weekend a bit more when we win. I’m old, I don’t have much else on a weekend these days other than watching the wife knitting on a Saturday night.
  22. I think it could go either way but St Johnstone are favourites as the home team. We dont have a lot up front and are really relying on Turnbull ( hopefully something rectified in the summer). A narrow win for the home team.
