Apologies for being late to the party …. What is the alleged/rumoured offence that caused Crags departure and apparent reason why he is now unemployable at the club?

I don’t get this insistence that it has to be someone from within or a former club legend. My adopted English home team Charlton are exactly the same (so very similar to the well in so many ways) are exactly the same. From my vantage point, Stevie Hammel is not the right man for the job yet and if he’s doing a great job in what is a critical role, why move him? Perhaps in time, he will be and hopefully he’s smart enough to see that.

I have several Ipswich fan friends and you’re on the money. Yes, weeyin is also correct, the club has been in decline before and after Lambert but it’s fair to say that Lambert got access to more resources than his long term predecessor (the much maligned Mick McCarthy) who worked minor miracles to keep them a mid table Championship club. In short, Lambert is still living off of his Norwich days where quite frankly, he was fortunate to have what he had at the club. Motherwell’s player budget is a fraction of what he would have had to get out of League 1 and the squad he inherited would romp our league outwith the top 2. in short … if you think Alexander was a bad move, Lambert would have burning effigies outside the main stand by next summer.

This was the first shirt my parents ever got me as a 6 year olds Christmas present. All these years on, I have an original adult size Patrick one and I absolutely love it. whilst this new one isn’t quite as nice, it’s still a cracker. Badge is in the wrong place, waaay too many macron logos and Amber shorts would’ve been better but a great kit that is bang on the trend of making modern versions of old classics.

Still going with this one? To be fair to Baraclough, his signing record wasn’t too shabby. Yes, there’s the Tony Strakers and Wes Fletcher’s of this world but there were also the Louis Moult, George Long, Conor Ripley and Big Marv’s amongst others who have all gone on to be a success at either Fir Park or in League 1 and Championship.

Yes, in the main, it is. However, many seem less concerned by us signing a player from the youth academy of a championship club whilst the national league south is a far cry more competitive and often a better standard than academy football. Amaluzor has accrued a high number of competitive matches at a highly competitive and pressured level. Getting into the national league is not easy and is more costly than people think. National league North and South have therefore been recognised as a breeding ground for lower league talent for some time. An example of this is former Maidstone player and now Wimbledon captain Joe Piggott. He has consistently been banging them in at league 1 for a few years. GA will no doubt raided the north league before.

Got to be honest, I don’t think Justin Amaluzor would even get close to our radar in a non covid world. However, he’s definitely got ability. Im a youth coach at Maidstone Utd and the club have been hit really hard by the inability to receive gate receipts. League fixtures were cancelled and the whole first team squad were put on furlough. Justin was one of the higher earners at the club (on more than you’d think) and he along with all other first team players has had a very long time to carpet bag his wares around the football circuit. I didn’t know Andy personally but I was hoping one day I would. out the blue one day he messaged and offered me a rare Scotland kit, just on something I’d said in one of the threads. Three days later I had it on. He wanted no money but we discussed the potential of him coming to The Valley with me whilst on one of his bi-annual trips to south London. Covid and other things got in the way but I was still looking forward to meeting him face to face. gutted….top bloke, gone way too soon and huge condolences to his wife and family.

Mick McCarthy would be a brilliant appointment for a club like Motherwell. He’s neither fashionable nor sexy but he’s got a successful record of (relative) achievement with limited resources. It’s no coincidence that Ipswich dropped out the Championship almost immediately after he left

Another sad story and not the last EFL team to go into administration or worse. As a potential creditor, I expect that will be little likelihood of getting a sell on fee for the big man.

Aren’t the fir trees to symbolise fir park? I honestly wasn’t aware of a fir tree forest. Where was it? I get the point about the craig but again isn’t that symbolic of us being the steelmen? That surely couldn’t be lost in any new logo, steel was invented in Motherwell after all.

If looking at attributing blame, I’d wager Tait’s agent will be most culpable. Like all things, something is only worth what someone is prepared to pay. In this instance, Tait’s agent valued his worth higher than the club did on two occasions. In Tait and his agent’s defence, they probably would have expected to reach a negotiated middle ground but of course, everything changed. To genuinely advise Tait to send off a signed copy of the pre COVID contract and expect that it would be honoured is naive. I’d wager he/she knew they were chancing their arm and I’m amazed our Dicky feels sufficiently aggrieved that he’d bump his gums on air.
