  1. And you know this because........????? I mean, have you seen the blokes CV, or were you on the interview panel? Seen the job description and list of other applicants? Or have you just made a desperate leap of assumption based upon your own ignorance?
  2. Don't know the guy but can massively relate to his situation in a professional capacity. It seems to me that because he hasn't got white hair, isn't a bit stuffy and generally looks like he spends his match days stood at the back of the east stand eating pies, then he just HAS to be an imposter!!! I don't know what forum or website he set up but I do know that it appears to be high on his priority list to keep Motherwell in the media eye and improve transparency (or at least the perception of it) of club goings on to the fanbase. Unfortunately, from experience,no matter how hard you try to be open with people there will always be stote the baws out there who will look for the conspiracy theory, make a target of you and look to blame YOU. Unfortunately, for MFC, Alan Burrows is the YOU!!!

    Relegation

That Twitter chart does box it off really. The majority of teams in the SPFL buy from the same bargain footballer shop and almost all of them have to rebuild at the end of every season, so inconsistency and league position jostling are inevitable. Realistically, there are four teams fighting to avoid 11th. All it takes is any one team to go on a run and they are safe. I believe that given the next five fixtures, we could just be that team. We've had our bad run, and whilst we'll never turn into Barcelona, there is enough in that squad to put us in a comfortable position before the split. Conversely, one team could plummet allowing the rest of the pack to breath easy. But as our 2016 results show, you could be utter dogshit and still be within touching distance due to the inconsistency of others. It'll be interesting to see how Kilmarnock respond to the new gaffer. Clark has a fairly good rep down south and if he hits the ground running, could manage to get them to put a run together. Thistle will manage to limp over the line just as unspectacularly as they have been all season. Which leaves Accies. What can be said about accies without heart ruling head? I think/hope that come season end, they will be in 11th and will get their arses well felt in the play offs!! And then, they can take their joob joob manager, amateur league pitch and pitiful excuse stadium back to where it belongs in the lower leagues. Either way, we have a major rebuilding job to do for next season and with hibs and the Rangers back in amongst it, it'll become even more difficult for us to stay in the top flight.
  4. A 3-0 win is a 3-0 win and shouldn't be in any way diminished. Sometimes winning ugly is the only way to do it and relegation battles are seldom classics and hopefully Tweed is right that simply by virtue of the margin, it will spur the team on for the coming weeks. I would take 9 ugly points from the next 12 in a heartbeat!!!
  5. Good god !!! If people think we've got problems with the dressing room and the managers public comments about some of his team, then I'd hate to be a terror. On the topic of the manager, I'm really glad that one of his tactical re-jigs has worked for him. Think what you like of him, it was a bold move to do that last night. I would take a 3-0 win every week even when not playing well, but were Utd as piss poor as Thompson says in his rant or was it just a rant that perhaps his players didn't merit? The reason I ask is, was last night a true indication of us turning the corner or us simply managing to turn over a team who are just more shite than we are?
  6. I wish people would just chill the fuck out!!! Yes, we're on a poor run and yes if we want to avoid relegation or at the very least the play offs, then yes, results have to improve. But if you listen to both managers post match interviews, they both thought a draw was a fair result in poor conditions which did not allow for any type of decent football. Short of a bad referee call and a deflected shot by the obligatory ex player, we would've been 7th and looking to go 9 points clear of killie and 11th place in our next league game. Sometimes that's how shit rolls and we're at the bottom of the hill!! Our luck will change and we will not be relegated. And if folk take themselves off their self imposed suicide watch, we've got a cup run to put together and the squad will need some positive backing to do that !!!
  7. There's some right stoaters bouncing about this forum tonight!!! Yes, McGhee made some bad decisions in his team selection but all today has highlighted for me is despite us having a relatively large squad in size, there is a very limited depth of ability for any manager to choose from. It's not the first time that Hammil or Chalmers have been played out of position in Motherwell colours. If I recall rightly, Chalmers was touted as being capable of playing anywhere along the back four when he signed for us? Equally, have people forgotten that Josh Law was signed as a midfielder? Indeed, it wasn't that long ago that this forum was alight wi folk banging on about how he was NEVER a right back??? It's easy to pick names from the squad and ask why they weren't played (like Kennedy who we were also led to believe could play right back when signed) but without any inside knowledge, it's purely conjecture based upon opinion and in some cases prejudices. Some folk need to chill. The real test is how the squad respond to that today. Yes, today was a gubbing but in most respects, it was one of those games where everything went right for hearts and dreadfully wrong for us. Their first two goals being perfect examples. Yes, Motherwell were rudderless. Yes, their marking was shocking. Yes, Ripley had a 'mare and Yes, it all coincided with a particularly 'at it' hearts team. Shit lack that can happen and has happened with slimmer defeats and also in our favour in not too distant past. But for me, other than the opposition in particularly punishing form, it was a return to the all too familiar form of August through to perhaps mid November. Which tells me that the squad needs an overhaul and that will take time and patience. I hope we manage to get at least one competent midfielder in this window. If we do, mid table and even top six is achievable. If we don't, then that lack of squad depth will have us nervously looking at results elsewhere from week to week.
  8. Christ, You can tell I've been living away too long. When I used to have my season ticket, they used to do some stretches, keepy uppy, shooty in and Bobby Russell would shake out his back perm LOL Mon the well!!! We'll get something out of today.

    Mark McGhee

I knew when reading that article that there would be some queuing up to attack the bloke. So what's wrong with having ambition? I wouldn't want a man anywhere near being in charge of my football team if he weren't ambitious! The whole 'I could've been Liverpool manager' is just the predictable lazy journalism you'd expect on a slow news day. Imagine the editorial instruction, "no transfer rumours, no real sign of a managerial sacking and its January....fuckin' 'ell. Right lads, go out and ask some seemingly innocuous leading questions and see if you get a bite and try make a story out of it" On account of living hundreds of miles away, I don't get to many games so have no clue if people are indeed shouting paedophilic abuse at McGhee but if they are, then those muppets should be outed and fucked off out of it. Vile behaviour which drags the good name of our club into the sewer!!!
  11. Yeh, My shirts (mine and the kids) from last season are doing exactly the same thing too. This years lasted a bit longer but still, very shoddy!!!! Doesn't the sponsor get printed on the shirt post production in house by Proven Sports?
  12. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3396211/Manchester-United-recall-Liam-Grimshaw-loan-spell-Motherwell-Preston-eyeing-permanent-transfer.html A mid table championship club close to home, playing with former Man Utd colleagues, and no doubt offered a good wage, nobody can blame the lad and good luck to him. The English championship is full of players of his ilk but having been to a couple of Charlton and Brentford games this season, after a settling in period, I'm sure he will do a job for them at that level. Indeed, he'd walk into the Charlton team right now.
  13. If anyone reads steelmenonline, MJC and 'law steelman' posts are uncannily similar. Such a happy soul!
  14. From experience, the tag "clueless moron" is one more often used by characters befitting that title as opposed to their intended targets. I agree with much of what's been said with regards the beginning of our downward trajectory and the poor standard of footballer within the present Motherwell squad. As a "clueless moron" I cannot see how any of the blame for this predicament in which we find ourselves can be laid at McGhees door. Probably the present boards greatest crime was signing 'gamble' players on long term contracts and blindly trusting Baracloughs judgement on transfer targets. I sincerely hope, that during McGhees visit to Les' tropical tax haven paradise, they did lots of risk assessing and that he managed to convince our 'benefactor' to release funds for January and allow paying off some contracts early that will free some wages for players of McGhees choosing. Which is the greater risk? Plough on with players who can't or won't make the grade and face a bludgeonous relegation struggle meaning ever decreasing gates, relegation and the potential financial ruin of the club or take the hefty financial hit mid season, cut your losses and get people in who can do the job. By Christ it's worked for Ross County!!!! Of course, many will say that McGhee cannot be trusted with the responsibility of signing the right players but like or not, he's the man in charge such matters and we'll just have to live with it cos as my dear old departed faither used to say "you can only pee wi the cock you've got!"

    Mfc Podcast

I'm not entirely sure if there is a personal issue here or not. I don't know Andy and therefore can't be accused of being an arselicker. But, attack the fella on a public forum by raising something that's two years old after the piper has been paid ... A public forum on which he is one of the few to be identified by his own name????? Well, I could think of better ways that grievances could be settled. Life goes on, even after you've been in jail! From an "outsiders" point of view, give the man a break...

    Sportscene

Unfortunately, sportscene is the tired old family labrador that really ought to be allowed to gracefully via a trip to the vets. There's loads of reasons as to why it has declined but much of it is the growth of the English Premiership brand and our geographical close proximity to it, technology and the inescapable truth that the standard of entertainment on show is in the main really rather poor. There's always been bias for the old firm over the rest of us 'plebs' even when there were Scottish football programmes on a Friday night, Saturday evening, Sunday teatime or even the (was it Monday evening) Archie McPharchie question time format talk show all about Scottish football. During any of those shows, it was often the case that Motherwell were never even mentioned never mind the highlights. As a well fan in exile, technology has massively helped in accessing Scottish football coverage and the open all mics is a vast improvement on what was before. BBC ALBA is a god send and........ Chick Young is nothing more than wee blue nose vile h*n sycophant !!!!
  19. I was going to say this one but you beat me to it. Ali Maxwell pulling off that cup final save in the state he was in awesome.....what a great day!!! What about Stevie Kirks four goals against st mirren in about 87 or 88? And perhaps the best individual performance by a non player was the Katowice goalie who we were told prior to the game was well dodgey and then played an absolute blinder to keep us at bay.
  20. Oops..... Being a coltness boy, I am alien to such language. My humblest apologies
  21. Everything has to be taken in context and big handsome was worth a great deal more to the Motherwell teams he played in than perhaps the majority of the names mentioned. Good god, someone mentioned Gordon Mair ?????? The bloke wasn't even a striker so should we include big softie in that list too? He used to score some belters in the tennents 6s???? I can't help but think that the manner in which McGhee likes to set his teams up, John Sutton would be a valuable asset to him right now.
  22. As much as the team selection raised eyebrows, as has been said, it was a free pass and nothing more than a training session/trial. It just seems to me that McGhee has inherited a team entirely bereft of confidence. Although it is not on display terribly often, there is some ability there and I would guess that is why he was asked to come in and do something with it. Yes, there really is an imbalance in the squad but given that the majority of those "on the books" have longer term contracts and the loanees go in January, it doesn't give much scope for a cull at the end of the season and a there's a ticking clock towards January. Therefore McGhee has no choice but to do the best with what he's got, and seek to transform some of his surplus ie defence and attack. It makes sense that Laing and Moult (who are on longer contracts) should be tested on their flexibility cos quite simply, going out and buying a quality combative midfielder is not an option for the time being. We won't go down and I'm happy to wager that we will also avoid the playoffs.
  23. I feel a degree of responsibility for some of this whole "davidgate" shenanigans. It was my post that may have goaded him into his rant and perhaps what he said are not to everyone's liking....but I can understand his sentiment. I don't agree with the whole abstinence of attendance thing because quite simply, it would achieve nothing. Even if done on mass, without a representative voice, a boycott would only do more harm than good. Is there something deeply wrong at the heart of the club and how it functions? I don't honestly know and I would wager nobody else who contributes to this forum does either and if they did, they haven't articulated it. In the absence of hard fact, we are left to breed opinion based upon the opinions of others whose opinions are based on the opinions of others and so the perpetual irrationality prevails. LH has never hidden the fact his offer to the club was a loan and that he expected to be paid back. From the outset, he was clear that this 'vision' of his was solely reliant upon the success of the well society. These are facts. How LH has conducted himself in the media of course has left a great deal to be desired but his behaviour has been consistent with the character assessments given to me about him by people I know professionally who once had to deal with him during his time at the Craig. Is the club in a better state than it was before he came? Arguably yes and arguably no, but we can't properly tell until the 'five year plan' begins to bear fruit or LH walks away because we didn't meet our contractual obligations to him. Would we have been better off without LH? Don't know and why waste any grey matter worrying about it....whatever the alternative, it didn't happen. So in a nutshell, if people want answers and aren't happy about the manner in which their beloved football club is being run, don't just be a keyboard warrior or deny yourself your lifelong pleasure (pain) of being a lifelong well fan....do something about it!!!! Get organised and make your voice heard!!! The well society is a perfect vehicle....so use it....ask the difficult questions.....influence the future of your club!!!!! Now geez a brek wi the woe is me !!!!
