I still like our badge but probably only because it’s all I’ve ever know and have seen no alternative. So, to pose a typical close season type of question, if we were to change it, what within our current badge is dated and should be scrapped and what would folk like to see?

Loving this!!! I would love to have the talent and patience to do something like this. Can’t wait to see the finished product. It would be nice if the club get wind of it and give you and the mini theatre of dreams a splash on the OS

First time I’ve watched the game in full since approx 92 and if I’m honest, there was a great deal less football played than I remember. In fact, both teams were pretty poor. What was pleasing was showing my son just how many home grown players were in that squad. John O’Neill’s half time substitution made a huge difference for them and I hadn’t realised that he been formerly Fir Park Boys Club. Even then we were turning out quality youth. Ive always had a strong sense of injustice over the Clark assault on Maxwell but it is nothing on the flying 2 footed tackle Nijholt did to give away the free kick that caused the ball to come in. I also didn’t realise at the time just how much the players were moved around. McCart starting at RB with Griff at RM was completely erased from the memory banks.

Morally, the whole Cadden affair is just wrong. Karl Robinson’s comments indicate genuine surprise that Cadden is actually going to go to America. What I find a little entertaining though is his reference to Cadden being “a top championship right back”. He’s played almost every game this season in Robinson’s much loved 4231 formation and received lots of praise as a RB but I should imagine there’s plenty experts on here who thought Stephen Robinson was ruining the boys career as a RWB would disagree with him LOL https://therealefl.co.uk/2020/01/03/oxford-united-boss-blasts-departing-23-year-old/ Oxford United manager Karl Robinson has blasted Chris Cadden after he left the Kassam and returned to parent club Colombus Crew, as reported by the Oxford Mail. Cadden’s move to Oxford caused a huge amount of controversy as he’d been pursued by the U’s, but eventually opted to move to the MLS instead. When he then pitched up on loan with Robinson’s side, his former employers Motherwell were incensed. He has since made 21 appearances for the League One side, but is now set to return to the States to start his career with Colombus, a move Robinson has blasted. “At 23 and going to play in MLS, I don’t get it,” said Robinson. “Bow (Charlton boss Lee Bowyer) got criticised for Joe Aribo going to Glasgow Rangers, but I think this is ten times worse. Chris Cadden is a top Championship right back and will grow with this club. You don’t know where his end game is, he’s still really young.” He then claimed his attitude was only because he ‘cares’ for his former loan star. “Maybe I’m being harsh, but it’s only because I care for the boy,” he added. Cadden began his career with Motherwell and played 139 games for them before his controversial move. He’s also represented Scotland at Under 21 level, as well as boasting three caps for the senior side.

Just as he’s forced his way into the team and scoring, Louis Moult secures another start and gets subbed on 26 mins for an injury. Hopefully nothing too bad....he’s had nae luck at Preston
-
It’s been reported from the most reliable ITK Charlton journalist that Moult is keen on a move to the valley but PNE are holding out until they get a replacement. My boy is wetting his drawers asking every 10 minutes “Has Louis signed yet.? Has Louis signed? Has Louis signed yet?”

Scott McDonald didn’t. If I recall correctly, he cut the collar out of his

A couple of questions for those in the know. The first is straight forward. I hadn’t realised that we had a kit that went 1978 to Jan 79. Why did it change mid season? The second is a bit long winded, a little more controversial but genuine none the less. Indulge me. My first Well game was 1984 so have seldom seen the hoop. In fact, I can recall more non band/hoop shirts than hoops. A quick look on historical kits shows the hoop being in use continuously from 1928 and to 1969 and only used once again since (Hummel 1994-96). So, of our 133 years of existence, the hoop has been in use for less than a third of this time. The white shorts have featured more in the past 50 years than the hoop. Why is the absence of the hoop considered to be a break from tradition?

Absolutely agree

It’s the “best of both worlds” justification that sticks in the craw because he’ll know all too well how much this will impact on the club financially. Oxford are clearly at it as it wasn’t all that long ago that they were staving off administration due to the ongoing battle over the stadium and alleged owed revenues with the previous owner. poor show all round

Chris Cadden can go f**k himself !!! Chris Cadden explains controversial Motherwell exit for Oxford via Columbus Crew Well could miss out on compensation after the Scotland international moved to the MLS before being immediately shipped out to Oxford, who had wanted to sign him from the Fir Park club. By Fraser Wilson 11:38, 24 JUL 2019 Former Motherwell midfielder Chris Cadden says his controversial transfer to Oxford United, via a loan from from Columbus Crew, as getting the "best of both worlds". The Scotland international moved to the MLS, but was immediately shipped out to Oxford, who had wanted to sign him from the Fir Park club. The route to the League One club meant they got their man without having to pay the cross-border compensation fee that Motherwell would have been due for developing the player through their academy. Well believe they are owed about £200,000 from the American club – they could have expected £320,000 if he had gone direct to Oxford - and Stephen Robinson 's side are preparing to lodge a bid for compensation. Cadden made his debut for Oxford as he played 70 minutes in a 1-1 friendly draw against Fulham on Tuesday. And afterwards, he insisted he was happy with the move. He told the Oxford Mail : "I thought hard about it. America is a great opportunity for me and it will be good to see a different country, because I’ve never played outside Scotland. "But Oxford gave me a chance to play in England, which I wanted to grab with both hands. It’s a real honour for me to play for this club. "I guess it’s the best of both worlds."

I don’t know if I’m honest. Instinctively, I’d say yes but significantly ignorant to the process to be persuaded otherwise by someone in the know. Given that the majority of lower league transfers are frees, I would guess that the agent fee would be representative of the contract and player value?

This is an interesting barometer of the economic divide between Scottish clubs. What is intriguing also is when you then compare it to agent expenditure in English league 2 and how most Scottish non OF clubs are dwarfed by their spending power. Northampton £92,125 MK Dons £80,263 Mansfield £77,932 Cheltenham £61,253 Port Vale £60,027 Oldham Athletic £55,551 Notts County £55,130 Cambridge United £48,930 Lincoln City £44,434 Forest Green £40,431 Colchester United £38,642 Stevenage £38,460 Grimbsby Town £38,104 Crawley £32,160 Newport County £31,952 Yeovil £27,931 Carlisle United £27,431 Tranmere Rovers £26,112 Swindon £18,000 Exeter City £14,490 Morecambe £13,486 Crewe Alexandra £10,638 Bury £6,075 Macclesfield Town £1,000

Yeh that’s the one !!!! Fond memories of this kit and whilst it wasn’t a stellar era, there were some good players who wore it like Jonny G, big softie and ahem....Paul Kinnaird.
-
Rochdale wore their away for their visit to the valley yesterday and it was reminiscent of the ‘Well matchwinner kit from the late 80’s. swap the blue for the claret, white for amber........
-
It’s been his work rate that’s stopped him from being turned on by Exeter fans. He was a replacement for the prolific Jayden Stockley and they’ve really missed those goals in the second half of the season. They love his “good honest pro” attributes. Hopefully, Ryan can keep the goals coming just a little longer and sneak the Grecians to their third consecutive play off final.

Having just dropped into the relegation zone with only 2 games to go, Plymouth had better be hoping for that post manager bounce. It was only this time last year that Adams was being hailed the messiah for taking them to a baw hair from the playoffs.
-
They did appeal it but it was rejected like pretty much every other appeal that goes to the FA regulatory commission. One game ban

Without doing a stat check, I think Stevie Kirk was the only midfielder who springs to mind to have scored more than 10 and he wasn’t really a CM. The boy is phenomenal!!!
-
Fair do’s and my bad. Yeh, it might just come back and bite the boy on the bum. Maybe he does want to stay, 10 years is a long time and ‘Well is all he knows but the allure of big money and a bigger club is overwhelming. Fingers crossed he sees the mutual value in the deal offered by the club as 13 games does not make a star.

No media training? It was his use of media that has propelled Burrows to the hierarchy of the club in the first instance. In fact, I consider his ability to be media savvy whilst not sounding too corporate to be refreshing. I would wager that the clubs policy on youth development signings is not dissimilar to the majority of grow your own clubs like us. We all now know the policy on contract offers for youth and his examples of past errors were bang on the money. To use Rangers or indeed Celtic as a benchmark of fan acceptance isn’t a credible one. They both have somewhat distorted views on the world. As a barometer, I have a season ticket for Charlton who have an almost identical policy to Motherwell in terms of youth development. Manager Lee Bowyer has been saying almost exactly the same thing about home grown and out of contract midfielder Jo Aribo and the fans love him for his candour and in this instance the way he (as Burrows has done) exposed the agent and put a public arm around the player. https://www.newsshopper.co.uk/sport/17534332.charltons-bowyer-sets-record-straight-on-aribo-arsenal-talks/

Joe Jordan fae Cleland who pioneered the 2 missing front teeth look on a world stage and Frank McGarvey who.....probably would’ve looked better if he was missing 2 front teeth.

I have wondered about this in this past. There are clearly licensing laws otherwise full detail retro shirts would be readily available. There must be some kind of loophole though. One of my boys summer holiday highlights during our annual trip to Turkey is getting all of the up to date shirts of all the top teams. The shirts are of a good standard and available in most clothing stores in full display of the authorities.

I can see why he’s being inundated, the quality of product is better than much of the competition. I haven’t seen the 78 shirt on their website. Do you have a link?

Hey UBH, did you get any joy with Aztec on the white Umbro shirt? Also, if you’re still in contact with them, any chance you can chat them up for the ‘82 (home and away) and ‘86 Scotland shirts?
