  1. To be fair, I don’t think you’ve been hounded. There’s been conflicting views put to yours and from my perspective, you’ve given as good as you’ve got (keyboard gangster caption?). So, if I’m understanding the point your making, you want to support a team that has ambition and doesn’t settle. I get that. It’s a ball ache to watch the cycle of rebuild but we’re used to that, the title of this thread and it’s predecessor is indicative of that. Maybe some of us are apathetic. So a genuine question.... We know the financial limitations of the club. We have comparably minimal cash turnover and outstanding debts to benefactors. We want to push on for consistent 4th, 5th or 6th league placement. What does the club need to do in order to achieve this?
  2. I hadn’t read this thread or seen the news of Cedric leaving until having a shufty on here. I’m glad there’s some common sense prevailing as 3 or so pages ago there was some proper slavering getting done. Yes, losing Kipre at this time is a great loss to the team. Yes, he will be difficult to replace but the club recognised that when they started signing him up on better deals. I and anyone else who wasn’t a half wit knew then that Cedric would be gone sooner rather than later. I can only assume that Kmac is young enough to not remember the Boyle “we are going to be Scotlands third force” era? i also assume that those calling for an expansion on player quality are unaware of the financial restrictions imposed upon a fan owned club of our size? Tried and tested costs money we don’t have. Money we can’t generate without trading players at a profit. On the topic of profit. Cedric has been one the best bits of business I have known Motherwell to have. We’ve done everything we promised him and our player/agent marketing machine gets a fresh story sell. However, all this “he’s gonnae be worth £9m this time next hear” is fanciful to say the least. For example, Charlton sold Ezri Konsa to Brentford for £3m this summer. He’s a home grown centre back with footballing ability and pace to burn. He was a member of the England U19&20 wc winning squads and played circa 30 games last season at CB, RB and CDM in league 1 never once looking out of place. The point I’m making is that pound for pound, he’s a better player than Cedric Kipre on all counts at this time and is an Englishman playing in the English leagues. Cedric will do well but will have very tough competition in the division he’s going to.
  3. If the quoted sun article is anything to go by, it isn’t £1m plus add ons.
  4. Yodo and Lawsteelman from Fir Park Corner can bring the glow sticks and mogadon. http://boards.footymad.net/showthread.php?t=38225210
  5. Didn’t Robinson say the other week that it would take the new signings time to adjust to the pace of the Scottish game? It’s possible that this is the reason and we see more of Gorrin as time progresses ?
  6. Agreed, Dom Thomas was a terrific example of that.
  7. Wasn’t the “roll the wages into one” ideology where McCall went wrong? He didn’t have the youth to push through despite the calls for it on here. Push the youth into the first team is a recurring Motherwell anthem of discontent but really, who on here is truly certain that we have the young players to push through this season?
  8. Whilst I agree that I’d like to see Bigi getting more game time, he was most certainly not one of the best midfielders in league 1. If he was, he wouldn’t have come to us.
  9. I know I shouldn’t bite, but honestly, how old are you? Are you really this much of a moron or are you much brighter than your post suggest and just a troll ? The whole “we were by far the poorest team in the second half against Edinburgh” patter sums you up really. Shall we all just forget the 5 goals that were scored in the first half of that game? No getting away from today being a cause for frustration. We should’ve comfortably won. However, results like this in this tournament at this time of year are not at all unusual. I will not be shitting my pants just yet.
  10. Did Robbo shag your missus or something???
  11. Any team that has its keeper save 3 penalties in a shootout and still loses it doesn’t deserve to win.
  12. One striker signed that you don’t rate and we’re gonna get pumped every game??? maybe a little bit of an overreaction
  13. I honestly thought it was a wind up like the Cadden story when I clicked on my NewsNow...... Can’t say I’m inspired. I’ve never rated him but I hope the bloke is an unmitigated success because if he succeeds, we succeed.
  14. Having often watched Tony Watt at Charlton, I would be concerned if we signed him. He was overweight throughout his time there and it’s fair to say that his work rate consistently fell well short of the required standard. Charlton fans are very much like Motherwell ones, they live in the shadow of giants and will forgive a lack of talent for sheer endeavour. Watt had the talent. However, he frustrated them immensely as he seemed to be able to turn it on or off and through lack of endeavour, he was mostly off. This, compounded by the rumours that he was a right big time Charlie in and around the dressing room making it no secret that he thought he was above playing in League 1, made it easy for them to say goodbye. He is capable of playing at Championship level but his record says otherwise. If he came to us, we’d be taking a punt and it’d be last chance saloon for him.
  15. Roberto Martinez managing Swansea to league 1 champions, Wigan to a FA cup win and a Belgian World Cup semi final .... work in progress
  16. Grabban and Jutkiewicz are much bigger and stronger than Moult. The Championship loves a big strong centre forward. I hope to god I’m wrong but I fear Louis may be one of those prolific League 1 strikers but not quite got that extra bit to be a regular championship 10+ a season striker. If he does go on loan from PNE, I hope he comes to Charlton as he’s exactly what Lee Bowyer needs in a striker.
  17. This popped up on my FB the other day. We are the man with eggs; The old man is an egg seller, selling eggs to make ends meet. A lady approached him after not been able to sell not even single egg for the day. She asked him, ‘How much are you selling the eggs for?’ The old seller replied, ‘£1 per 10 egg, Madam.’ She said to him, ‘I will take 15 eggs for £1 or I will leave. The old seller replied, ‘Come take them at the price you want. May be, this is a good beginning because I have not been able to sell even a single egg today.’ She took the eggs and walked away feeling she has won. She got into her fancy car and went to a posh restaurant with her friend. There, she and her friend, ordered whatever they liked. They ate a little and left a lot of what they ordered. Then she went to pay the bill. The bill costed her £140. She gave £150 and asked the owner of the restaurant to keep the change. This incident might have seemed quite normal to the owner but, very painful to the poor egg seller.
  18. LOL......A very positive outlook. Wes Fletcher was given the no9 because he was signed as the main striker. What he did with that shirt was down to him as indeed it will be down to Louis this season. Indeed, you only need to look to that season to see the difference between Fletcher and Moult.
  19. To be fair, I don’t think he’s suggesting that he is.
  20. Good to see Louis Moult being given the no9 shirt at PNE. Surely a vote of confidence and hopefully the beginning of a good season for him.
  21. They are different but yeh, I think they’re maybe a variation on a theme. The home one might grow on me but the away collar is the waste of an otherwise very nice shirt
  22. I would go with that, I only really put the names in for demonstration. Either way, even if nothing else happens with transfers, we would be well represented in this formation.
  23. Just had a look at them on the official site and I like them even less. I really dislike the collar on the home but what’s going on with the collar on the away??? It looks like they’ve done one of those mock collars (like the old Scotland diadora number) but then decided that that wasn’t naff enough, so added a proper collar....that was too short. The result just looks wrong to me. It’s a shame because I like the stripe. The shorts on the away are bit ??? aswell.....they look like the hems hanging out. The claret striping on the home is cool but the embossed 1886 just looks tacky.
