  1. They clue was in the words "wish list," ya sour faced nutter. Now you're on here boasting about disappointing your laddie. What's wrong with you?
  2. My pleasure. I'm away out to take some dawn photos. Boxing Day here now.
  3. There was a middle ground. We gave too many contracts to veterans, at one point eight members of our squad were aged 32 plus. That's ridiculous. Even now we have seven squad members aged 32 plus, and some are hoping that the 8th will return from India. Way too many ancient, past it, fragile, injury prone players in a small squad.
  4. What beats me is that some of you haven't worked out who I am. I'm not reacting to all this fantasy/liar stuff cos I know I'm telling the truth. Anyway, interesting that a nice wee Christmas Day side story allowed some peopl to vent like madmen. How sorry their lives must be. You are excused as you've put your hands up. Merry Christmas.
  5. It's genuinely pretty sad that someone is on a football forum on Christmas day making up wee stories, a wee fantasy world. Kinda starting to feel a bit sorry for him. A digital marketing expert that cannae upload a photo though!
  6. Okay - done. Somewhere in a Burmese temple three bricks have been bought to help build a school for poor mouhtain kids. Names on the bricks are: Brick one - steelmenonline and Motherwell FC Brick two - superward and ya bezzer ( cos I feel guilty for calling him a ra ra skirt wearing fanboy ) Brick three - weeyin ( I think I've caused him blood pressure problems this year ) and Kmcalpin ( cos I appreciate his excellent match analysis ). If I figure out how to load an image I'll post the photo. Don't say I never buy you anything. I'll be back at the temple tomorrow morning so I'll have a word with Buddha, see if he can help us out of relegation trouble.
  7. Same to you. I'm in the mountains on the Burmese border. Quite a few Christian tribes people here. Spent the morning watching the monks collecting alms. A few have wished me a Merry Christmas, which is nice. Later today I'm going to a temple which is trying to find the funding to build a school. Last time I was there they had a buy-a-brick scheme, which puts me in mind of our Motherwell scheme. If they still do it, I'll buy bricks for MFC and steelmenonline. Then I'll ask Buddha to give us a wee hand. We're needing all the help we can get.
  8. I have no problem with that. Some people like to couch themselves in fantasy. Others put the boot in to woeful contract offers, part-time managers, and CEO's that can't be bothered clarifying transfer income. We are on the edge of automatic relegation due to that mad month of June. Who's going to save us? Samson, McFadden, Hammell, McManus, Lasley, Brill? Left to those six, we are going down. Thanks for that, Burrows. Merry Christmas.
  9. You better watch or Fanboy bezzer will bite you. We've not been closer to automatic relegation since the administration season, and bezzer is running about with Pom poms and a ra ra skirt stating the fucking obvious.
  10. I'd say it's time to lock this ancient thread now that The Well Society own the club. The majority of replies pre-date the Society taking ownership and are now obsolete. Start a new Well Society thread.
  11. If it makes any difference, a relative and number one mentor of a Rangers youth player who has now been called into the first team squad a few times ( not appeared yet ) told me he admired Motherwell development. This from a lifetime Rangers fan. One of the things he spoke about was game time. He detested watching young players training and being denied game time. He also detests the Old Firm habit of paying substantial money for development players and even then, denying them game time. He said there should be an audit at Murray Park to see how much money has been burnt buying youth players who are then released. By a country mile, players making it into the first team is the most important issue for parents. The Old Firm have a dire record. Our record is improving. We will blow away any elite academy by continuing along that path. There is something to be said to not be part of the dire pro-youth so called elite set up. It's record is shocking, and at our rate of travel I would expect us to be the number one academy in Scotland within a couple of years. Cos we do something unique. We give players a chance.
  12. Hard to be the less than zero that many pro-youth players endure now. The current set up is rancid, leading to a report that found it was abusive to youngsters. There's a story doing the rounds regarding a Celtic pro-youth player that was expected to travel down from Montrose twice a week to train, and didn't get game time. That story comes from a guy I know involved in Celtic youth. Appalling. What makes any of you think this proposed eight zone set up would be any better? These clubs will continue to hoard players knowing that only eleven can start any given match. They're needing maximum squad sizes, and an end to the ban on players turning out for other teams. Forkin disgrace these talented young guys sit on the sidelines week after week. The coaches should be notifying their players of the 15 required for the pro-youth game by Friday, and arranging the surplus boys to turn out for another team that weekend. And hey - how much is the SFA youth budget? How much do they give to Motherwell at the moment? These are not state secrets.
  13. How much money is involved here? And I hear nothing but bad reports about the pro-youth set up at Rangers & Celtic. It may be a blessing to be free of the dead hand of this notorious failure. There's nothing elite about young players being routinely denied game time.

Aye well I'll just go with his former pre injury. MOTM performances, looked like he was coming on to a game. I can't believe people are defending our Daniel Prodan Memorial Squad. By the end of this season you'll be able to pick eight so-called first team squad players who won't total 50 appearances between them. But naw, naw - pick on CMWELLFAN for pointing out our recruitment record is verging on Calamity Jane standard. Welcome to Deadwood Stage.

You're away with the fairies, boss. Roughly a third of our first team squad has either no-showed on the pitch this season, or appeared for "ten minutes." It's a disgraceful reflection upon our summer recruitment.

Brill - injured for years. Bowman - non league. Heneghan - fair enough, and I'm delighted he's worked out well. Belic - write off, Blyth - write off. Lucas - write off. Would you like to argue any of those points? Re Chalmers - I tipped him to come on to a game this season and prior to his injury, he did. I took some slating for that call at the time. I don't mind guys like McHugh being posted missing due to injury, he took a bad one. I do mind us filling our squad with fragile players with next to zero track record.

As far as I can see, the only "established," players we signed in the summer were Tait, Clay & McHugh. Everyone else was a speculative punt. Which is a mental managerial position to take. It should have been six established plus 3 punts. Burrows thinks he's running a branch of Ladbrokes. We must hold the record for the most lame players in any first team squad in the SPL. We should open a glue factory and melt our knacked players down. Try to get some money back.
  18. Celtic source tells me they are looking to punt Griffiths for decent dough. Same guy says Moult is on the "edge of the radar," as a replacement. I believe the first part of the story ax develop and sell is their strategy, buying Moult I think is highly speculative. Where are you going to get 3% interest? Clear the debt, get rid of it once and for all. My view is that for the first time in a while we have three ( at least ) sellable assets in Moulton, Heneghan, and Cadden. It wouldn't be unreasonable to value them at a combined £2 million. We also appear to have a couple of youth superstars coming through. I'd like to see us offering an extension to Joe Chalmers - slated to he'll last year, he's shown a lot more this year. TBH - secure him and McMillan, settle with Hammell. I doubt even his biggest fans pre-season are looking forward to another 18 months of him. Best line I heard from a Celtic fan since the game was "nine man Motherwell were fantastic in the first half, imagine what you could do with a full team." ( Hammell and Lasley ). Get your act together, Burrows - a blind man could see that giving extensions to Lasley, Hammel and McFadden was an act of stupidity. Samson and McManus are getting by with one good performance in six. I blame Burrows more than McGhee - it's him that signed off on these contracts, and if McGhee bolts, it's us that are left with the Benjamin Buttons of Scottish football. By the way - I reckon Bowman could be doing with a good "mid season pre-season." Drop him for six weeks and drill him up to SPL standard. He'll come back a real asset.
  19. My first game of the season, confirmed what I thought about the appalling decision to give contracts to veteran players unfit for the premier league. On the bright side, what a game - rollercoaster. Proud to be a Well fan. ps - which one of you nutters was fighting in the Railway Tavern last night?
  20. At least he finished the race. Half of our current first team squad would faint by the time they got the half way line.
  21. Yes that's an appropriate management structure in my view. I don't have any concerns about the Well Society and club structure in this regard. We don't have an "omnipotent," owner/director situation going on such as the individuals that bankrupted Hearts and Rangers. While both clubs had boards of directors they were puppets/kept in the dark/powerless. That won't happen at Motherwell FC. Thank God.
  22. I was at that game, I forgot the score ( pleased to say ). I have a memory of Wullie Pettigrew racing Laurie Cunningham and Cyrile Regis before the game, I remember him winning but everyone else says he got gubbed, can't remember. ............................................... All praise to Laurie Cunningham and Cyrile Regis. Anyone in the stadium that night saw two of three greatest ambassadors for black British players ever - along with Viv Anderson. Those of us old enough enough will remember the CONTROVERSY - yup, controversy - of Viv Anderson, a black player being picked for England. Different times - hard to believe and hard to explain to the youngsters of today that it was even an issue. Laurie Cunningham - what a sensational, unbelievable player - who went to Real Madrid and died way too young in a car crash. Cyrile Regis - I remember him playing with the Coventry City team that won the FA cup in 87. Another outstanding player. These three men should be lauded ( Cunningham was awarded a blue plaque in London after his death ). Regis and Anderson should be knighted for services to football. What they endured to plow the path for modern black footballers was beyond belief.
  23. I wouldn't insult their intelligence. You go right ahead, though - every forum needs a village idiot.
