Hello folks Thought it was worth adding a post on the Society's new Christmas fundraising initiative, here's all the details: The Well Society have launched our '12 Days of Christmas' campaign, giving you access to more than 50 exclusive experiences and prizes whilst supporting Motherwell Football Club. We have teamed up with the club, the youth academies and Motherwell FC Community Trust to offer you everything from golfing holidays to VIP access at Fir Park. Take a peek at our 12 Days portal and find the perfect Christmas gift. Being part of it is as easy as one, two, three: 1. Browse through over 50 silent auction lots, register and make your bid or go to our buy now options 2. Enter our raffle, at just £5 per ticket, to be in with the chance of one of three great prizes 3. Make a pledge and help a child in our local community The portal is open until 9pm on Thursday 12 December – so make sure to get your bids in before then. The fundraiser brings all aspects of the club together, with proceeds from the silent auction split equally between the Society, Motherwell FC and the Community Trust. Monies raised from the raffle will directly benefit the next generation of players running out in claret and amber, with a 50/50 split between the boys’ and girls’ academies. Christmas is a time for thinking of others, and giving the gift of football is also an option. Many children in the local area don’t have access to social activities and clubs – why not make a pledge to fund a football holiday camp place? Well Society Director Greg Anderson is leading the campaign as part of the Society’s Membership Workstream. He said: “There’s a plethora of prizes, some awesome auction lots and experiences which would tickle the fancy of any Motherwell FC fan. Please have a look and consider getting involved – it is all going to support this club and this community.” Brian Caldwell, Motherwell FC Chief Executive, added: “We’re excited to be able to offer fans something truly memorable, whether that be lunch with Paul McGinn and the players or joining the press pack and interviewing the gaffer. All aspects of the club are involved in the campaign, and all aspects of the club will benefit. Thank you for taking part.” Fans also have the opportunity to support development of the women’s game, and programmes which benefit people in the local community. Dawn Middleton, Chief Executive of Motherwell FC Community Trust, urged people to make a pledge: “The fans show incredible support to the team on the pitch, and to everything that happens off it, so I have no doubt they will rise to the occasion.”

I would be keen to share with members of the Society the work we have been undertaking since the turn of the year in partnership with our members which has led to our new proposed operating structure. There are four Zoom sessions running this coming Sunday at 10am, midday, 2pm and 8pm. If you would like to join us please send me a DM with your email address. In case you missed it here's the communication sent to all members on Monday: Introducing our new operating structure Over the last six weeks we have been engaging members to understand what they want from The Well Society. They have told us what they value as members, what is working now and where we can improve in future. During these discussions five clear areas of focus have emerged. We will form five dedicated workstreams to support the development of these priorities. Each of these workstreams will be led by a board member. It has been clear across all of the focus sessions that there is a desire for members of The Well Society to make a greater contribution and offer more support. As a result, we are looking to align three Society members with relevant knowledge and skills to each of the workstreams. Our new focused workstreams are: Communications – led by Jason Henderson Will develop and deliver communications which give our members clarity around what we are delivering consistently across all channels Events – led by Amber Johnstone Will plan and execute a calendar of events that engages our members and enhances the visibility of the Society Fundraising – led by Derek Watson Will develop and implement fundraising initiatives that successfully drive income and cultivate our relationship with members Governance – led by Douglas Dickie Will establish and maintain robust governance frameworks, policies, and procedures that promote accountability and transparency Membership – led by Sean Baillie Will grow and engage our membership base through strategic initiatives, personalized experiences and value-added services, fostering a vibrant community We know that not everyone has been able to join us at Fir Park for the initial focus group sessions. So, we are organising four sessions via Zoom to gather views from Society members throughout the day on Sunday 3 March. During these sessions we will look to present the goals, objectives and deliverables across the workstreams and ask you to share your views and feedback as we continue to refine. The sessions will run at 10am, 12 midday, 2pm and 8pm – all times GMT.

Good evening folks Thought I would pop on to share my view on the discussion around membership numbers and contributions. I think what @Villageman is referring to above is that whilst communications of The Well Society will focus primarily on the overall number of members which now total 3,800. That only tells part of the story. 700 of those members are under 16 and signed up to a Junior Steel membership with a breakeven annual fee 1,500 of those are adults who are regularly contributing at an average rate of £10 per month 1,600 of those are adults who are no longer contributing monthly I think the concern then lies that in order to fill the £750,000 operating blackhole outlined at the AGM last week. The requirement would be that the 1,500 contributing members would need to up their contributions to an average value of £40 per month. i think we all know that this will not be possible but I am not so certain that is the requirement. We do need to remember that the £750,000 gap is based on a number of assumptions. Namely that we will finish 10th in the Premiership, we will not progress beyond the Group Stage of the League Cup, we will be knocked out in the 4th Round of the Scottish Cup and that there will be no player sales. It is not quite the worst case scenario that we can face but it is not far off it. Finishing further up the league, going further in the cups and any transfers out would cut that gap. Any incoming investor will not want to be handing over money to simply plug the operating blackhole. They will be here to meet their own ends. They will want to develop their own strategy, run the club more efficiently and increase the revenue. Would it not be possible for Motherwell supporters and partners with the right knowledge, skills and expertise to develop and execute our own strategy to deliver improvement? I think it is possible and The Well Society board have started to work on what this could look like. Going back to The Well Society membership. There is far more we can do around encouraging the 1,600 members who are not contributing regularly to set up a direct debit. We will also want to ask the question to those already contributing to increase their monthly amount where they can. I have been heartened to see a number of you actively considering this. I would note that any increase in subscriptions by our members must be met by The Well Society board upping the standard of our communications, the level of transparency and the value which our members feel of being part of the Society. We have been actively working on this since the turn of the year. I would encourage members to join us either at the face-to-face events and fundraising session on Thursday night or throughout the day this coming Sunday where we are hosting Zoom sessions where we will share our new operating model and deliverables. This is before we even get to the large number of season ticket holders who are not Society members, those who live locally who have a soft spot for the club but we haven't asked the question of joining the Society and the opportunities we have to grow our membership base internationally.
