Haven’t posted on here in a long time and didn’t buy a season ticket this year and have only been to one game this season. The main reason for this is in my opinion our board of directors allowed our prize asset to leave for an absolute pittance and A blind man could see we would be in a sorry state if we didn’t replace him. I get he wanted to go but why was he allowed to leave for the first offer in the summer at less than half his market value - who sanctioned this and thought it was acceptable . As a support we seemed to just accept it and go down the usual happy clappy , great wee club , welcome to the rollercoaster mentality that is part of the reason we are where we are again this year come November. That sale was the start of an odds on downward spiral . Not getting the market value for a 29 goal striker has led to our manager having a shoe string budget and signing a load of dross and getting them playing alongside the a lot of dross from last season. Yes he’s signed shite but that’s the general financial market he had to deal in due to the lack of funds on offer and the shite bag approach from our Board on the KVV sale was the catalyst for now having a squad bursting with dross footballers. Kettlewell also lost Johnson , Furlong , Goss from last season alongside KVV and butcher has only just returned - they were arguably his best 5 players during last seasons miracle survival under him so In some ways he has had the rug pulled well and truly from under him by the board. That said one point out of 24 would nearly get any manager sacked at most levels and he has signed a lot of sub standard players , played a formation in my eyes to allow his two golden boys in spittal and Paton to feature most weeks and the small highlights I’ve seen we appear devoid of ideas belief and any attacking threat. I don’t believe any manager can change this habit with the squad of players we have and the first change needs to come at board level with some cash for a couple of better players but January might be too late . If we don’t have cash then I revert back to the start of this rant - why the fuck did we sell KVV for such a small fee. Would a Moult or a Fletcher have made a difference - of course they would but if you believe some from within the club they both wanted to come but we didn’t want to take the risk or lay out the cash - just look where that has left us. Our bowling club mentality board need to stand up and be counted but I don’t think they’ve got it in them- the silence from them is continuously deafening .

I’ve stayed out of this discussion and read the various comments on here and other forums etc There is no doubt in my mind that the end section contributes massively to the atmosphere at fir park and has done for a number of years. Of course there are a couple of clowns within their groups but the same could be said for most groups that go to the games and for most sections of each of the home stands. I would say the club needs them though and needs to accommodate them within reason. We can’t afford to lose this group or the numbers within it. What’s needed is a maturity within the club to get around the table like adults and talk to them. Set the rules out , give them clarity, talk to them like grown ups and then if they blow it they’ve only themselves to blame. So what’s the problem…. Well that lies at the door of a jumped up , self preservation champion who believes he is better than everyone and knows better than everyone, who has the people skills of well … a retired/failed member of Strathclydes finest. The man who is always there when he is never wanted and never there when he is needed. Sure that was part of his previous employment training as well. All allegedly of course. I just wonder how he got appointed in the first place ????!!!!!

Thought Butcher and Casey were both superb tonight . No nonsense players with a proper desire to win a football match at all costs. Johnston was very good like he has been anytime he has been picked - again desire to do well is clear . Makes a mockery of SOD being picked in front of him by Hammell . Goss and Spittals effort levels were unrecognisable to previous matches all season . I still don’t think Spittal will ever make a footballer but fair play to him for running about the way he did tonight and getting an assist. KVV showing glimpses of what a player he can be . Great 3 points but long way to go . This team is capable of staying up with the right man in charge - tonight showed that and it also showed that there issues under Hammells leadership and management .

Last night was just awful to sit and watch. It was made worse by getting soaked by the roof leaks from the new east stand roof that the club heavily invested in. Then avoiding the leaks at the concourse area to cap it all off. When will the club learn with their jobs for the boys appointments - manager, coaches, players and the alleged stadium and security manager. It looks like pc plods lack of credentials and knowledge has meant we’ve wasted yet more money we don’t have on repairs and projects that have failed - our club unfortunately is in an absolute mess. Watch this space as he talks himself into a new role shortly ………..
-
Bunch of gutless shitebags . Johnston only one who appeared to care from what I saw . One isolated figure up front for 90 minutes at home to St Johnstone - deary me.
-
I see on a few folks twitter pages the mention of an Irish centre half - Oisin Mcentee. Not sure how much in it but at Walsall just now

Wasn’t at the game today and never watched it online, but the result and performance surely isn’t a shock to anyone who watches us or knows anything about football. Let’s be clear we were terrible last week and just beat one of the worst teams on the championship . The football on show was rotten and the couple of new additions were just that tiny bit less rotten than the rest of our squad on the day. Nothing changed last week and of course the same league form was going to continue with that muppet in charge . He’s out his depth . His team talk they showed up there was laughable and more suited to an amateur league. Bottom of the league , rotten to the core with endless jobs for the boys appointments at every level which have been marshalled by burrows and the board . A bowling club board with a pub team manager - that is why we are bottom of the league . Change the manager and there’s a small glimmer we might finish 11th. Maintain the status quo and we are relegated. The only thing for sure is a large proportion of our support still won’t lay any blame at burrows or Hammells door and will continue with their welcome to our great little club, we are punching above our weight and it’s a rollercoaster patter. Hammells record is a disgrace and the stats back my statement up. Get him and his assistant out. A club playing legend maybe but an absolute managerial failure. just how can he still think we don’t need a midfielder who can tackle and stick with the same 3 again today
-
The result and performance epitomises how poor our squad is and how poor our manager is. We are in a complete mess throughout the club. Burrows was a club legend because he re tweeted fans and hammell needs a few transfer windows as he was a playing legend - remember all this next year and the following when we are rotting away playing in the championship or worse. Special mention to Blair Spittal today for the shite bag challenge he drew out of today early in the 2nd half in front of the east stand - its committed players like him that will see us relegated . And to think stevie hammell starts him every week.
-
2 wins from 16 ( think I am correct) 1 home win all season it’s the worse team I can remember . We don’t have one sellable asset , we don’t have one leader , one fighter one player who can open up the opposition or get us off our seats . Craig Clay, Lee Lucas, Kai Nysonen , Willie Falconer and Shaun Fagen would get a game in this team at the moment. I said Goss could be good in a good team but he has dross around about him . His great pass you mention highlights this - he passed it to Shields who headed it to Marshall .Only the Motherwell protected legend can select shields to start so the blame lies at his door. Options of course are grim but he keeps doing the same thing every week. I saw nothing on the pitch today to suggest we will stay and saw nothing from the management team or the board.
-
Our midfield is a bigger issue than the defence . Goss decent in a good team but he’s not in a good team. The offer no help to defence or attack , Slatterly , Spittal are slow , can’t tackle , can’t press and are generally shite bags. McGeady had 3 men around him and still crossed the ball at first goal , 3rd goal we gave the ball away in midfield . There’s only one man who can changr he the midfield and he doesn’t want to - worst team I’ve seen in 36 years. Spineless, rudderless and only heading one way / hang your head in shame Mr Burrows - out your depth
-
Killie and Hibs at home and Livi away were winnable - we took 2 points out of 9. We are a relegation certainly under Hammell . Our fixtures won’t save us. Time for Hammell to go along with the glorified photographer . Being a Motherwell man doesn’t make you a success - we are a sinking ship under these two
-
Two board members in particular bought into Alexander’s pish so much so we dumped a few highly respected back room staff and even brought in his mate who got put in charge of the doctor and physio and he wasn’t even qualified , all on Alexander’s say so. It was a mistake extending his contract but hindsight is a wonderful thing. The board also backed Alexander with both Watt and Woolery - both mistakes. They all received a hefty pay off that’s why we are skint and signed 2 loan crocks and are in a relegation battle and only able to sign 2 players / we are skint through massive mis management at board level . Burrows should be chased out of town with his Scot vec cameraman CV - we are just too gullible to actually do it.
-
One point was much more than I expected us to get today so from that point of view it was a bonus. The however is we are awful , pedestrian , slow , unfit and lacking in any style, but most alarmingly we look lost without leadership or real bite or dig to win a game of football. Alexander , the board and Burrows have lots to be blamed for the however is ; - Hammell has had 6 months with team and his points record is shocking - Hammell was in charge of youth for years and no one has come through from 30 plus players - Hammell has had 5 plus months to motivate a team , get a game plan and style and he hasn’t - Hammell picks spittal and Shields most if not every week - that’s a massive reason why we are in the position we are in. Two out and out passengers His win ratio is worse than Baracloughs - there is only one outcome coming with this guy in charge. We have a bowling club well society committee and board with massive conflicts of interest with the personal on it involved in the club board and the club board has made some very poor decisions that reflects where we now are . there’s two options ; 1. keep Hammell and go down - he’s shown nothing to suggest otherwise 2. change manager and have a very slim hope he gets more out the poor squad than Hammell has in 6 months but either way Hammell isn’t the man in This league or the first division.
-
Livi have a clued up manager who knows how to grind out a win and shut up shop, we have the opposite . The also have street wise hard working players who are always up for a battle , unfortunately we don’t. Home win I’m afraid and more of Hammell being disappointed and wanting to learn from mistakes and more of team burrows telling us he needs a fair shot at it with a January and summer transfer window. I hope I am so wrong

Your right you don’t become an inexperienced manager after 20 games but when you persist with the same formation every week and after 20 games , persist with 3 non tackling slow midfielders getting outnumbered after 20 games and persist in allowing your goalkeeper to shell the ball to a striker who is isolated and isn’t very good in the air it will ultimately lead to people questioning his managerial credentials . This is especially so when results and performances are as bad as they are. To pick Blair Spittal every week is a sackable offence in itself. Imposter of a footballer who hides behind he opponent at every opportunity and runs as fast as someone who has two pulled hamstrings. Hammell is a catalogue coach with all his badges who talks the talks on phases of play with all his textbook buzz words. What we needed last night was simply a manager who could make a basic tactical and personal change to see out a game . Many juniors and Sunday league coaches with no badges could have seen what was needed. Hammell like Burrowe will become untouchable through this relegation fight in many peoples eyes simply because they are ‘Motherwell ‘ people. We are in a mess and those two are a part of it with the latter having played a major role in the assembling the worst squad I’ve witnessed in 35 years. Kaine Woolery wouldn’t have saved us but would have offered so much more than anyone we currently have - Shame Mr Burrows was instrumental in his departure as well.
-
Why are there no youth players coming through other than 16 year old olds on the bench - where are the players from the 20s and 18s that Hammell over saw for years? Massive amounts of money invested in this with him at the helm with no results - this was the clubs ethos and that of the well society and Hammell was in charge of this. He was given the job off the back of his performance in this role which is baffling
-
He only needed to bring one on and failed and allowed them back into the game
-
One man lost us that victory and his name is Stevie Hammell. Two nil up against ten men and it’s clear to see we need an extra man in the middle of the park to protect the defence and he does fuck all until it’s 2-2 at which point he takes off the wrong man. Dean Cornelius really must have said something really bad to not get in that team with his energy and desire alone. If that had been Robinson , Alexander , McGhee there would have been an out cry but old pals act Hammell is untouchable it appears . He’s out his depth - failure as academy director and failing as first team manager . Weeks to put something in place to shore us up and he still starts with the same formation and route one tactics and persists with the wage thief that is Blair Spittal. Don’t even get me started about Shields and Slatterly looks like he’s been eating out on Xmas dinners a month early with his lack of fitness and pace. Hoof ball and go narrow when Kelly has the ball is clearly a managerial tactic and it lost us 3 points tonight. Every corner floated by Spittal to the goalkeeper 3 yards out - it’s pathetic and pathetic that Hammell doesn’t have the ability to see a game out. Yes we have a poor poor squad but he’s not helping himself . Some might call it naive but it’s verging on arrogance. Wrong appointment and it’s going to cost our club dearly .
-
Cornelius should in my opinion start every week on the basis he has attributes that the other midfielders don’t have - he has energy , pace , can tackle and looks to play forward where possible - I think he is 21. The only other youngster to come through of late is macguire and he is the opposite of Cornelius. My point is that with Hammell in charge of the academy no other 20/19/18/17 year olds have really at any game time other than the lad who came on at st mirren at start of the season and then disappeared. Each of these squads is at least 20 strong so thats circa 40 players possibly more who hammell signed/coached as part of his academy role and none are ready. He has put Ferie , Miller and Ross on the bench a few times and not used much/at all. He sold us on youth and a team trying to play football for us to be proud of. In 4 months I’ve yet to see that other than a small spell of games around united/hearts at home. It’s a lack of progress and lack of ideas on change that’s alarming me. Some players are going backwards as well - Slatterly , Lambie for example. Yea it’s better than Alexander but honesty as of yet not by far. The league table and quality of what we are watching shows that. Massive January window ahead for him and his chums on the board.
-
A few obvious pointers of that from watching from the stands - one of our midfielders generally hides behind his opponent meaning the ball can’t be passed to him meaning he can’t give it straight back to the opposition. - a midfield 3 who haven’t put a tackle in for months - Goss has shat out of numerous tackles in the past 4/5 games - KVV got criticised for months for silly yellow cards for lunging in, late barges etc . Great he’s cut that out but he needs to move off the spot he’s stood on at some point and put himself about - rangers first goal a few weeks ago - no player that plays with his heart in his sleeve allows a player to waltz past them like that - all 5 of them it’s great how no one wants to comment on Hammells shambles of a youth set up - can’t go upsetting the club legend . Great player no doubt infact a legend of a player , failure in developing the academy and let’s be honest if it hadn’t played so many games for us his managerial stint would be getting questioned already.
-
There’s no doubt Hammell doesn’t have much to work with however his insistence on playing 433 and being outnumbered in midfield with players who can’t run, tackle or pass the ball is causing us all sorts of problems. I also still can’t work out how our old academy director who spoke so passionately about his academy doesn’t have any talent coming through apart from 2006 boys. Where are the players from the 17-21 year old age groups he was in charge of? What was he doing whilst in that post ? And why was that not challenged by our jobs for the boys board during the interview process. We need a massive turnaround and a spot of luck in the transfer window but I fear we have no money for much. Hammell has talked a good game and had us playing well for 3 or 4 weeks but the football has been shit for a longer period and more worrying for me we are a team devoid of leaders, men and players willing to put their head above the parapet for our club . Plenty suggesting moult is done , only time will tell but give me a moult attitude and desire any day of the week over the likes of mugabi , spittal , Morris , KVV, shields , Slatterly who couldn’t really give a shit if we win lose or draw - that’s evident in their efforts on the pitch or lack of it.

If I was the manager I would play 442 with Sod and McGinn as fullbacks and move penny to left mid with Mckinstry right and goss and Slatterly in the middle. Or if insisting in getting pumped in a 352 I would play : Sol McGinn and lambi at the back, penny and sod wide with Cornelius Slatterly and goss in the middle. If they were injured I would play max Ross in the centre. Also though if I was the manager I would have pin pointed just how weak , slow , fragile and lacking in pace put midfield was and bring someone in rather than waste it on a crocked winger from Huddersfield reserves. watch and follow spittal in a game for 5 mins - he hides when we have the ball, cuts back and plays back when he gets it but is worst off the ball - he jogs like he has two pulled hamstrings and won’t be kidding me anytime soon. the new Iain vigers
-
Put simply we don’t have the standard of player to compete in the league over a season and that combined with an inexperienced manager and ex head of academy under whose stewardship we have failed to produce any 17-21 year olds who can break into the first team we have the recipe for a relegation scrap. Questions need to be asked of the monumental fuck up by the board and burrows in giving out contracts and money to Alexander and his merry men . Problem is no questions will be asked as they have it sewn up with a conflict of interest by voting one another onto the club and well society boards along with their happy clappy mates who wouldn’t dare question the mess we are now in both on and off the park. if Stevie hammell thinks Blair spittal is the best we’ve got to start every week then I’ll see you all in Greenock and cove next season . The guy can’t run , tackle or even show an ounce of effort - a proper footballing wage thief if ever I’ve seen one .
-
We simply don’t have enough quality players at our disposal within the squad but hammell must use what player options he has wisely . Spittal is a non entity and offers nothing defensively, creates nothing and runs( sorry jogs) like he is running in quick sand . Given penny is one of our best attacking options why not play sod at left back and push penny further up the pitch on the left. . Cornelius also has to play purely based on his energy and willingness to show for the ball and he actually gives a shit. On academy players being given a chance I don’t understand where they all are over the past few years. I get the 16 year olds aren’t ready but where are the 19/20/21 year olds that were coached under Hammells stewardship as academy director - all very strange - not one good enough out of 60 plus ?
-
So just so I’m reading your comments properly because someone like spittal is an ‘experienced ‘ player you don’t believe he should be dropped . What’s your wisdom and advice then how would you fix it or would you bury your head in the sand like hammell and play the same non performers in the same system every week and hope for the best ? As I alluded to earlier that fact we have no 21/20/19/18 year olds ready to step up is on one man that oversaw the academy and has now somehow found himself in charge of the first team - rather ironic
