I’d love to know what the costs saved would be per year against the income that could have come in if invested elsewhere. Unless £1m is saving you £100,000+ A year I don’t think it was the wisest move at this particular point if it allowed us to commercialise the pitch then I would perhaps agree that it was worth the investment although not overnight cash cows I would have rather seen that put into our own academy pitches or even in income generating areas such as hospitality

On an average of £2k per week (if you were paying full price wages) until end of may. Is it not worth putting £200k in to get you up to 5 players on loan to help you get to the end of the season? with Maguire out on loan among others, I can’t see how that wouldn’t be worth the investment? if we were run with a Benefactor esq structure alongside the well society you can 100% guarantee that would be happening
-
And add into that how it was paid through a covid loan (despite the low interest) that eats into our cash flow each month you have to question commercially why that money wasn’t spent in a revenue generating income flow
-
I would suggest a year with no season ticket money (which was largely our choice) and spending what we did on a pitch following 2yrs of hardship wasn’t the wisest decision admirable in the case of the season tickets perhaps but financially suicidal in my opinion and I’m sure others
-
That’s exactly what we are trying to get from what I’m told. And a left back. Whether the board can fund it or not is another question told that finances are in a seriously bad way and has worked against us on a number of targets this and last window
-
-
And I’m pretty sure those problems are actively being addressed against the back drop of restricted finances and moving players like shields Morris who on the face of it appear to be willing to move given their cushty wee contracts that they have. I’m not sure an older head can conjure more money in the budget to remove the players that need shifted on so we can actually sign the quality of players that hammell woulD like McInstry, the left back and the centre forward on the face of it show me so far that he has the ability to bring in decent players for our budgets

Read some amount of Shite in my time on here but recently takes the biscuit. folk are delusional if thinking changing manager with 2 days left of a window is a good idea. Gave the current manager a handful of weeks to bring players in and he’s now having to replace the ones he brought in due to loans ending and injury does anyone think a new manager will manage to make goss and slattery and spittal (the current boo boys) magically better? Does anyone think a new manger will suddenly have more options than miller and Cornelius to change the midfield? Does anyone think a new manager will be able to conjure a goal scorer out of van veen again? Or make lamie and sol a world beating centre back pairing. new manager same shite!! give hammell regardless the rest of this window and season to turn it round
-
Signed 4 and now having to replace 3 of them due to injury and loan ending of the two he has replaced them with one hadnt been well during week and couldn’t start and one was injured in training yesterday hardly made the number of signings that are needed
-
sadly wont be able to afford him. good option for us though. dundee utd bound
-
While we are moaning about yesterday anyone any ideas what’s going on with the catering in the pod stand went down and qued on 40 mins. Took 20 mins to get served to find all I could get was a bar of chocolate or a coke. Not a single pie or bovril available above all else I think that shows our clubs falling apart 👀
-
So blaney is a replacement for lamie who I would say over the course of the season is head and shoulders above sol (despite lamie not being at his best) cornelius has started on a number of occasions then been accused of being too similar to goss/slatt. when played along with those two we then have no alternative option on the bench to ignite some energy which is what Cornelius can give you

Wages even for these young players are a massive constraint tho as welwell91 points out recruitment for a club our size is far more difficult than we as fans imagine 6 players min is what we require in jan. However I suspect that won’t happen unless we move players on who wants players tho that are failing at a club our size? 1st div /2nd div? Perhaps? But why would an in contract player move there? more to recruitment than we all think
-
I would agree that from your post there is sense in recruiting the following - young players with a point to prove at clubs at a greater level than us (ie Liverpool and Celtic) albeit you will have fans saying we shouldn’t be a breeding ground for competitor clubs - players released from clubs bigger than us with a point to prove - players from a league standard below us that are deemed the best in that league ie nisbet when he was at Dunfermline going to hibs given budget constraints to which are pretty tight this season profile of players and their ambition is massive in recruiting players who can make a difference

I read tonight’s comments and quite rightly this weeks scale goats are our centre half pairing and spittals not up to it last week it was our whole defence and penny was shit the week before we should be playing tierney and mcInstry so in conclusion from what we are now stating as a fan base our team should be : (fuck knows really) but il give it a go kelly Johnston (two centre half’s apart from Sol and lamie/ fuck knows who then) penny/odonnell Midfield mcinstry / slattery/ goss (altho he’s shit after today apparenty) Cornelius forwards tierney/ van veen So next week I look forward to seeing who we then change and who is the fall guy crux of it is hammell has absolutely no options and is dammed if he does and dammed if he doesnt needs short term fixes and support from our fan base and an almighty clear out in May
-
You never know 👀
-
Genuine question but what do you think we should be doing? And from what leagues and teams do you think we should be looking to sign from?
-
Centre forward and defensive midfield next please 😬
-
Ironically it was hammell that pushed for turnbull to get a chance so he has a track record of knowing when to play youngsters same fans on here wanting Cornelius to be given a chance now wanting Maguire back instead . The amount of contrafuckery by some of our fans is rediculous.
-
There’s right here and now signings we need to make and longer term / competitive signings we need to make. My guess is a good left sided defender was available that could challenge lamie and the decision was taken to take advantage of that and get him in. We need the same cover /replacement for sol and that might happen this window or it might take to summer. i would suspect if mugabi moved on this window then that would speed up a replacement for sol
-
Because he’s a left sided centre half and as bad as the defence has been, I think we need lamie in there and sol dropped first
-
I don’t believe we did have alternatives to Aaron’s and particularly moult and the fact we had to rely on managers own contacts at that stage highlights to me that our head of recruitment is under performing our last head of recruitment was well lauded by Robinson/McGhee/baraclough and looking back martin foyle identified a number of players who did well for us how many have we had under Dawes? In fact how many have we signed since foyle left that are actually worth mentioning?
-
Think many of us have been wondering this since alexander brought him in 👀
-
Think he was done after a week of arriving. Would have loved to have seen him live up to the “I’m home” joy at being back but it’s been sadly not to be
