  1. Miller , Turnbull and Faddy are all players who will last long in the memory and all 3 quite different players. If I was a little bit older then Mclair and McAllister would also be on the list. All bloody good players who each brought something special to FP.
  2. Until yesterday I thought the handball rule was much better managed this season . Given humans have hands , if the ball is blasted from short range there’s little anyone could do . Poor show on var for first one . great spot on second - think they were working hard to make up for the earlier error .
  3. Appreciate the frustration with the lack of entertainment. There's not a huge amount of creativity , similar to last season we need to rely on young wingbacks to create. Given our current squad I'd be tempted to play Watt behind the front 2 and try to link more via midfield. That said credit to the team for conceding less goals, averaging 1.2 goals lost per game v's last seasons 1.7. That difference has us very nicely in the top 6.
  4. I'd like to see him in a well strip
  5. I really hate var wait …… oh quite like it again
  6. Ox has been very good - much better than I had anticipated. I do think he also has the benefit of a better defence in front of him. we're far more solid as a defensive unit.
  7. Kettlewell has his flaws - as will any manager and any player who comes through our club. If he was the perfect manager he wouldn't be with us and wouldn't be in Scotland. The pro's come down to 1) his record he's won +40% of games over 70 games. That's very decent for MFC manager. 2)his workrate and valuing the overall coherence of a team. 3) doing the ugly side of the game well. 4) playing young talent and given them a chance 5)He moves on players who aren't to his taste. His flaws are 1) A large chunk of signings have proven to be pretty poor. 2) several signings aka Obika, Callaghan, Nicholson all with proven injury records. 3) lack of entertainment - other than youngsters there's not much to get you on your feet (same could be said for vast majority of SPL) Overall must be one of the better managers we've had. Very similar to Robinson's stats.
  8. Frustrating as the chance was there. Especially riding our luck and being 1-0 up . im a huge advocate of watt from his first time at the club and can see why people calling for him to come on . he looks out of shape and hasn’t had much game time , not convinced he’d have been the answer - albeit not any worse than who we did bring on . frustratingly even a poor rangers team on a poor run have players who are simply much better than the ones we have .
  9. after last seasons poor run at this time of year tonight feels like a big step forward.
  10. Days like today are a bit of a free hit. We shouldn't expect anything and when we don't get anything it doesn't mean we're suddenly a poor team. We needed to be at our best, Celtic at their worst and a bit of luck. None of which came true. Gordon sending off is something that could hurt over coming weeks.
  11. He’s 34 this month . Suspect he’s at the point where he’ll pick up injuries . I know we’ve picked up lots of training injuries , I put this down to some of the signing of players who are aging or had several injuries .
  12. excellent start to the season. From memory it looks us until late Jan last season to chalk up the same amount of wins. Great result. Well done lads.
  13. want to say thank you to Dan Casey - if that was a keeper he'd be applauded for that save at close range. Appreciate him throwing his body on the line and worked out rather nicely
  14. This time last season we narrowly lost in the cup and then narrowly lost to stmirren and we all know the rest of the story well done lads , fine margins which for now are going our way. Nice to get more points on the board
  15. Moses has already scored more goals than Robinson is likely to should he play every minute for the rest of the season. None of strikers suit 1 up front - we need to change our approach our starting formation. We need to build upon our existing tactics of work hard/sling in set pieces. Dare say 4-3-3 may suit this current crop of players.
  16. With less than 12 months left on contract I can see why we offered new deals . If SK was a promising young player doing well we’d want to protect him and get him signed . Same principles apply as a manager. He’s young and crafted a very decent points tally in his tenure . Still got lots to learn . To help him I genuinely believe we need to do something different on the recruitment front .
  17. Many of the summer signings make no sense . for a club who bleet on about cash being tight I see zero strategy here . its looks like take the cash for Bair and take a whack a mole approach to signings how many of these signings will get game time , what formation or style of football are we aiming at. All as clear as mud at the moment
  18. Wow - that will have us up to 9 first team forwards - quite like vale but can’t understand several of our summer signings no clue what formation we’ll play or whether likes of vale and watt will play in midfield .
  19. Our midfield is light in numbers . Slattery is a complete unknown if he’ll recover Paton often picks up injuries others are aging and likely to miss games lose Miller and it looks dire . some quality loanees would be a good shout
  20. completely understand that and I'm not advocating that we spend 3 - 4x on a single player. It's harsh though to see us losing the ability to compete with several other clubs who haven't stayed in the SPL. Likes of StMirren, Killie, Dundee etc.
  21. I thought the point was if you have a set budget rather than spend it on say 25 players, spend the same budget on c18 players instead. Overall go smaller squad and higher spend per player but keeping the same budget. Last season we seemed to do both, smaller squad and smaller per player budget. I can see the argument of less players and better quality but we'd need a deeper pool of youngsters coming through which is harder to achieve as each season passes.
  22. Appreciate that Scottish football is getting worse year by year and we're relative to that in terms of budget, but overall we must have signed bucket loads of journeymen. Please note I'm not pointing any comment at any single player , it's more about the sum of all parts. Our perm signings since Dawes has come in have in the main been underwhelming. I just don't see any plan that gives me cause to think we're on an upward trajectory. I know Bair will be blasted back at me here, yes he performed well above expectations but in the whole we've not made many perm signings that have proven to be that valuable since likes of Spittal/Slattery arrived on the scene. I'd almost rather we brought in mainly loanees - they've been far better quality than most of the perm signings.
  23. Just checked with SK's hiring super computer. Worked with him before - tick 30 years old - tick recent serious injury - tick can be found at Poundland or similar bargain basement stores - tick
  24. Bevis gave 100% every game and came across as a really good guy to have around the club. A very likeable guy who's built like an absolutely brick s&*t house. His situational awareness for me was the issue. He wasn't always aware of what went on around him, opposition able to drift behind him with relative ease. Thus his timing was often off, which simply cost us goals an all too often basis. To be fair had be been consistent he'd have left the club 3 years earlier akin to likes of Kipre. Good luck to the big man.
  25. I rather hope we sell Bair to Blackburn - get cash and in exchange keep Gent and Vale. If we could get £700k + those 2 players it would be an excellent bit of business
