  1. Was just thinking the same small crowd joke of a pitch commentator ‘Motherwell are shooting towards the supermarket ‘ ! add another schoolboy lapse in defence Complete tosh
  2. Completely with you. Lots of teams have poor runs of form Personally I dislike references to the 2 wins in 23 games, conveniently ignoring we've played 27 and won 5 or heaven forbid only lost 11. We'd all like to have won more, we'd all like to win more games against the OF. Today we ran out of puff and they have a player depth that only the OF can match. We're still 9th and that position would do us just nicely come the end of season.
  3. Given the pressure Celtic have been under suspect they may put us to the sword today. Really hope I'm wrong.
  4. The challenge is we've not been profitable. The model hoped we'd sell players and hoped we'd be able to have cup runs to make things meet. That's not happened. Crowds are reducing and unlikely to ever increase, other revenues from tv etc have not been forthcoming. Our cost is 50:50 ratio on players v's other costs. Thinking from the eyes of an investor, if investing funds in a football club (even if I was a Well fan) I'd want control, I wouldn't want a well meaning society to have control the majority control. I personally don't believe we're any better off with a society owned model than we had for the previous +100 years of existence.
  5. If we were told a year ago that SK would come in and only at worse lose 1/3 of games whilst working with a reduced target I think many would snap the clubs hand off. The odd part and the difference between us and say StMirren whose league position we'd be delighted with is too many draws. Overall he's producing decent enough results. Re contract - just give a manager a 12 month rolling contract - seems an obvious solution and one all parties should be happy with.
  6. The idea of the society chimes nicely. A club that cares about the local community and society that it's part of. Equally being in the bottom 3 player budget of the premier league is a bitter pill to swallow. We've been in the top flight since the 80s, I don't see how we're progressing as a club. Expecting rich benefactor (s) to come in for a minority share is more whimsical than perhaps realistic. I'm ok with continuing down the society route but believe we need to heavily invest in youth and make that the USP v's brining in journeymen from lower reaches of English divisions and hoping to sell them on for a tint profit. Appreciate we may not always hold on to young talent, it's risk worth taking.
  7. @David I''d drop Mugabi, S'OD & Butcher. Sadly Butcher is a yard shorter of pace than when he joined us. This would mean stop playing 3 centre halves and go with a back 4 rather than back 5. Divine, McGinn, Casey, Gent I'd put the extra man in midfield and have both Miller & Halliday when fit in midfield rather than the either or.
  8. SK mentioned he's sick fed up with the same basic errors. STOP playing the same culprits then Stuart. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. Stop the loyalty to those who hurt us regularly.
  9. Personal view - we don’t have 3 good enough and would be tempted to go back to a flat back 4 we went to a back 3 to solve a problem over a year ago - that problem may no longer exist as we have a much stronger midfield
  10. good summary as always . Re your who we solve the defence. I thought Casey made a difference and would keep him in the team. The simple answer is drop Mugabi. Neither Butcher or Mugabi would be in my first 11.
  11. We set our stall out to stifle Hearts and counter . Did ok first half started 2’d half well but completely toothless in front of goal , simply didn’t take our chances . Davor gave away a needless free kick - like he does . Led to them putting in a ball that caught mugabi flat footed - like what happens in many games . Shankland scores and from there only going to be on winner . Plan B , putting on all strikers and taking off midfield players is simply folly . hearts deserved their win today
  12. Sod was weak there - far too easily bumped .
  13. We’ve been toothless today - not really looked like scoring and can’t remember worrying the keeper
  14. Stupid stupid stupid free kick to give away - punished another set piece that we can’t defend
  15. Gent is injured Devine moves to left and sod slots into right
  16. Time for a sub me thinks would like to see Nicholson on for Paton
  17. Hearts changing their shape for 2nd half - be interesting to see how we handle and adjust
  18. Well done Vale - some really decent link up play - looks a decent baller
  19. Got to hit the target defensively improved - not offering much in an attacking sense
  20. cracking starting 11. Miller and Davor sitting in holding positions allowing spittle to connect with Bair and Vale. Well done coach
  21. Being allowed to play with 12 men would be the dispensation we need . Just looking at last run of results we've conceded 24 goals in last 13 games - in which we've been decent overall as a team/chalking up results. Completely agree about not breaking the working bits which are generally wingbacks + Spittel + Bair (and now Vale). The hard but obvious choice is changing how we defend set pieces - I'd be putting Casey back in and probably swapping Keeper - I don't think we're helping Liam or the team by ignoring how weak we are at set pieces .
  22. sort the defence McGinn mugabi casey or play with just 2 and strengthen midfield by adding miller or be brave and drop Kelly - appreciate this is old ground
  23. Brilliant to go 3 up but FFS we can’t defend or control a game . 2 big issues 1)the midfield can’t hold the ball. We missed Halliday. 2) worst defence I’ve seen for quite a while . Every cross , every set play we look like we’ll concede . we need to change the defence now . Whether it’s formation , players or both it needs to happen
  24. I do get the 2 victories in 20 league games but to politely challenge it's 5 wins in 25 league games this season. 5 wins, 9 draws , 10 losses. Not many Well managers get sacked for this type of tally or league position. The narrative has been bottom 3 budget. As such the expectation should be perform v's the budget The acid test comes at the end of the season. If we remain 8th or better with a budget of 10-12th SK will deserve a bit of credit.
  25. Our issues are beyond an individual manager. Scottish football has been on an ongoing decline for decades and all the clubs are wrapped up in the gulf between us an other leagues. The club needs to sort itself out and build a more sustainable long term future with CEO, Chairman etc. Financially s a 50:50 split on playing/non playing side is hurting us. I don't see the same investment in youth, it's not the machine it was in the early part of this century. Then you get to the first team, we've slashed the squad size and suspect salary per player. SK has made poor summer signings but fair play for how he's resolved it. He's also made some errors in formation, in game management. Overall though given what he's been up against my personal view is he's performing pretty well and not convinced there's a queue of any better managers waiting in the wings to do something magical.
