love this - getting out in our community. Great to see both lads out there. PS - that young lad really put the ball away with some aplomb .
-
I don’t disagree. I suspect the young loanee will be the best striker by a distance . the jury is out for the other 3 we’ve signed but he has signed 4 strikers. I don’t see us signing more in this position
-
agree - can't see a future for either Efford or Lamie. I could see other clubs happily stepping in for them. McGinley may need to stick around to prove fitness before other clubs take a punt on him
-
I think we've already replaced him with the others we've brought in,. Other areas may need further strengthening

This was a great watch. We did have a great team/squad back then. Wee Tommy was given time and great to see how we improved the standards and didn't accept nonsense. Suspect SK could be pretty similar to that. I do wonder if Kirky got fined for not following wee Tams instructions in the Aberdeen game . Wouldn't surprise me if he did. Also loved the passage of respect for those who are no longer with us. Coop, uncle Phil, Dolan, McGrillan all taken far too young and appreciate all they gave to the club.

Ive never been completely sold on Efford and no issues if he moves on. in all fairness though I thought he offered more than either of the other strikers did in the 2nd half. He looked busy/lively.

hopefully the boy we signed from Arsenal does the business. Got high hopes for him this season.

Wilkinson , Bair and others need time to adjust and get up to speed. Difficult to say what they offer and whether they're likely to be the starting front 2 if/when all strikers are fit. Similar with Soare, needs time to adjust and see what he has to offer. He doesn't appear to be a wingback, but he may be a decent enough defender. I only saw the 2nd half today and thought S'OD was one of our better players. If that had been young Max creating chances and getting up the flanks I suspect many would have been delighted. In the same way people are being asked to back Bair I'd love to see the same backing for S'OD and the others who regularly get bashed. We don't need any pantomime villains , just honest guys working for the team.

Thought the ref was pretty decent. Got all the bookings right. Other than the deflection from Miller where we should have got a corner I thought he was pretty spot on with most decisions. If the penalty claim is for S'OD at the back post I reckon he got that right as well. S'OD was already off balanced and the ball cleared before he rolled over the back of their player.

We had most of the game , O’Donnell , slattery and spittal all busy without making many clear cut chances . Dundee looked more likely to score . good to see mcginely and efford get some minutes after lengthy injuries .
-
Good shout . Our front 2 aren’t offering much at the moment
-
Soft goal to give away . O’Donnell had to come in , otherwise their striker would have been unmarked . lots of defensive errors cost us there
-
David ferrere - think he came on as a half time sub against hibs . Scored 3 identical goals and then the rest of his time completely forgettable
-
Fair play to SK for not putting all the new signings straight into the team . still missing a bit of depth to the overall squad , Expect a workman like performance today and the odd goal could be the difference

read a couple of articles outlining that Rogers thinks highly of Turnbull and expects quite a bit from him. Be great to see Turnbull kick on, last couple of seasons he's not had much game time.

KVV was a huffy bugger. A bit like the grand old duke of York, during his purple patch everything was perfect. When things weren't going away his attitude was far from perfect, hence playing for the likes of us rather than a higher level. Pretty sure GA said something along the lines of there is baggage with Kev but he's worth it. Pretty accurate. He certainly was worth it.

All things being equal 6th.

Top form Grizzly - both the promising youngster and your banter have made me smile this afternoon.

It's questionable signing a striker who hasn't scored goals at the age of 23. He's not a boy who's just starting out. He's played in the same league, irrespective of how poor a team is etc generally strikers know how to score goals. It's rare for us to bring in someone with such a poor tally - Ojamma is the only other I can think of in recent memory. As a few people have mentioned it raises an eyebrow. Of course we want him to do well and prove to be a success. To me seems a very odd signing. Appreciate no one should be bashing players on twitter etc but surprised at the amount of backlash raising an eyebrow has had on this forum.

Got to give all our players a good few months to see how they settle, generally you can see signs/glimpse of whether they can add value longer term. I see it more of a dig at the manager than the player. SK turned the ship around, reduced the squad and pretty much walked on water. The questions raised are whether he can spot a player - that will be key to hist longevity, bring youth through our system +complement with some shrewd business in the windows. All managers bring in some that don't make the grade, we need a couple of gems in this transfer window, perhaps we already have, time will tell.

Agree we need to depend on more than one golden goose to get goals. We need our strikers to achieve double figures , with midfield chipping in here and there. Wilkinson has before and reasonable to expect him to achieve 10+. Who ever his partner he needs to do similar.
-
thanks Spiderpig . Just looking for previous signings who arrived with similar stats - Nick Cusack is prob the most similar.
-
I agree , it's one hell of a punt. As you say KVV, Higdon, Moult, Sutton etc had all scored more than 8 goals in their life . Had he been an 19 year old never played before in the league then fair enough. Not writing him off but I don't believe it makes me a troll or whatever the the phrase is to share some doubt over signings.
-
I'll run the risk of being bashed for not being overly excited about our forward signings, Im sure people will remind me that Hidgdon & Sutton came good. For clarity our new signing has scored 8 goals in his career. Higdon had scored +40 goals by the time he arrived. Sutton had scored 50 goals by the time he arrived. Appreciate some clubs work out better for some players but why we've signed another big tall target guy who hasn't scored goals is questionable. I really like what SK did last season, I like his formation, I like the brining in youngsters. I really hope he has an eye for strikers. Obika, Wilkinson and Bair - be interesting to see if any of them can chip in with +10 goals.

The issue the other week was playing Mugabi and Lamie together. Lamie is very decent for 90% of the game but switches off for periods of each game. Mugabi big strong lad but lacks positional awareness, he's regularly caught wrong side of players. The number of penalties , red cards and poor goals are generally due to lack of awareness , which is difficult to coach. Where it can work is having either of them in the 3-5-1-2 or 5-3-1-2 . Personal view is he's not the answer for a first team starter. Ok to have him around to plug gaps. Either he or Lamie should be off loaded as no value in keeping both.
