  1. Very good result today. Delighted with the positive momentum and winning habit that SK has created with the team. Much stronger defensively and scoring plenty of goals. League is very tight at the bottom and relieved that we have created a fair amount of distance between ourselves and others.
  2. When SK outlined the roles he took care of at Ross County - it was incredible he had any team to coach the first team. He seems comfortable pulling the strings rather than having his string pulled. Re Dawes I'm supportive of having a head of recruitment/talent. What I didn't like is it came across that he doesn't base himself at the club and therefore is more of a scout. If' he's not based at the club regularly ,watching both existing squad players its a challenge to. understand how he'd know what he's seeing elsewhere is better than what we have.
  3. can only assume it's their equally horrid supporters. Suspect it's much more about psychology and habit. Get used to winning (or losing) in certain locations or against certain teams and you start believing in it. Hence good run/poor run of form. Confidence and belief have a lot to do with it. In addition small margins split teams, the overall quality/difference of majority of teams is minimal outside the old firm.
  4. nice to see some players coming back from injury. Suspect we'll see a bit of chopping and changing over the coming weeks to figure out who should stay and who should move on.
  5. That's a really good point . It's relative buttons to many of the clubs down south with their financial reach. Still hope the bubble bursts but that's 2+ decades now.
  6. Thanks for clarifying @Onthefringes. Apologies for the misunderstanding. You make a solid point, all players need to look after themselves first and foremost. Nothing wrong with that. re Max Johnstone suspect he picked Motherwell due to our reputation of giving players the opportunity rather than a deep desire to one day play for the mighty well. He's also been wise enough to keep his options open to get a bigger move now he's in the spotlight. He may be the next big thing but too early to say. The system isn't geared up to clubs being able to hold on to the talent that they develop but I do believe it's good for us to continue to help develop and grow talent. The ugly sisters won't and therefore we have a solid catchment area to help young talent develop. Some we'll win financially with, many we wont but if we can help local youngsters better themselves that's a good thing to be associated with and for our broader social impact of wellbeing.
  7. apologies if I'm taking this out of context. After injury DT resigned for us on a 2.5 year contract which took him back to the same position as when Celtic first agreed to sign him. He could easily have not done this , which ultimately earned us our highest ever transfer. Appreciate all players need to look out for themselves hence Max Jonhstone who's only played at handful of games is causing a stir. DT did us a turn, a very decent guy who ensured the club he followed and played for over his early years were well looked after. Not too many would or have done this.
  8. I personally think we played our cards well with max but the system doesn’t allow us to retain or really get much of a fee By the age of 17/18 we had come through the youth system and we loaned him out twice to give him the 1st team experience he needed to get into the first team. Have since played him in the first team bigger and better teams are interested - nice while it lasted and would have been nicer to last for longer . I genuinely believe we do as well as we can in these situations . sounds like dean may resign - that would be good for us
  9. Theres an offer on the table , that said reports are several offers on several tables. Be difficult to retain him albeit can be argued that getting game time is the best possible outcome for him at this stage of his career.
  10. agree - onwards and upwards please. We have some positive momentum and to be fair would love to see us peg Livi back. Id like to think we're a better team than them.
  11. fair to say SH lost his way and could have left earlier. The change of formation has made a difference, it was clear we needed to protect the defence and also have more in midfield - likes of Goss needs more around him. Equally I think Cassey, Butcher, Furlong have all added value. So a mix of some very decent pro's + SK's tactical + new approach has really got us out the preverbial. Still got a lot of players who need to be offloaded, hopefully that will happen at the end of the season.
  12. Kettlewells formation and set up has really worked wonders , equally the signings of Butcher and Casey have made a significant difference to our defence. Nice to see more daylight between us and the bottom clubs.
  13. what a fabulous prediction this would be Grizzlyg.
  14. great to get a bit of Grizzly on April fools. Any kind of win will be god damn fabulous today.
  15. Brilliant post. We're very quick to criticise. Clarke has proven himself at International level, we should be delighted to have him.
  16. Kelly may not have complete control of what he does. He could well be carrying out instructions from the mgr. He must be one of our few players who could go on to play for bigger clubs. He's had a horrendous defence infant of him most of this season. Suspect he's told to launch it up and hope we win the second ball as there's very little chance of us moving up the park with total football.
  17. Putting the iffy 3rd goal to one side , rangers looked in total control of a game we were rarely in. Not this season , or last couple of years but this century had been horrendous in the league against the old firm . Frustrating that we need to revert to old YouTube vids to remember a time when we had decent players . Not an easy fix but it’s past the point of frustration that we get our asses handed to us each and every time .
  18. I'd forgotten how many seasons Coyne and Arnott had played together. Certainly 2 of my favoured strikers over the years.
  19. Coyne and Coyle up front - must be the most formidable strike force we've had in 40 years.
  20. fair point re being drafted in earlier but he's still only 19 and likely to be a much better player for learning his trade on the loan deals. I don't know the ins and outs but to say we've not protected an asset appears a little harsh. Max was loaned out to get experience in lower divisions and then brought into the team. Bigger clubs are now coming in for him and sounds like he'll take the opportunity. Good for him, I hope it works out for him. Personally I don't see this as a failure of the club, the system isn't set up for to be able to hold on. We've had a long line of talent over recent years which suggests that despite the system not being great that we do a great job of giving youngsters a platform.
  21. these are games we were losing - scraping a point keeps that little bit of distance . good point
  22. Feels like we're past the point of no return . Option 3. From what I've gleaned the demands are fair. Assurances of fall back position to current job, brining in his No2 . Suspect wants assurances over if achieve XYZ gets the job perm. He comes across as straight forward, confident and wants to do well. Even if we did have to offer the job perm , keeping us safe or moving us up the league would be worth it. Was expecting this to be sorted by now, sooner the better.
  23. Killie tend to operate 4-4-2, be interesting to see if SK adjusts our formation. The 3-4-1-2 at the very least enables us to compete in midfield. Suspect we keep the same formation and starting 11 for this one.
  24. He may be stalling to get a perm contract - he may ‘if I’m the best pick then back me ‘ rather than a 12 game contract . a 12 month rolling contract could solve any issues
  25. Whoever the club fancied a week ago should be the appointment we go for. Kettlewell certainly a good guy and fair play for last couple of games, its injected hope into our season. It's certainly a tougher decision than a week ago but I can't believe for one second that he would have been the preferred candidate a week ago. Get him on a pay increase and working brilliantly with the youngsters . Meanwhile bring in who the club believe can move us forward long term.
