Honestly 11 strikers now , 6 of them on loan . it just smacks of not having a clue what we’re doing . what a complete and utter waste of finances . very tough job for a new manager to come in and sort this out
-
No , pure hypothesis on my part . I don’t think that’s why he left . but they are second bottom of the league and if this was to continue I could see them reaching out and trying to snap him up . Given he turned our fortunes around season 1 they must be at least thinking about it .
-
Yes , this is the ideal type of loanee to go for , although we now have 10 strikers on our books which frankly is shocking mgt of finances. Unless we can now offload some of them , starting with the boy from hibs

He’s likely to be working out a settlement and keeping quiet . my view is his ego was taking a bit of a beating. The stats are clear , he did a very decent job point wise over his tenure but despite his best efforts and being 5th fans were vocal . he probably thought crikey if the fans aren’t with me now , what will it get like if we slump back to 9th . There’s not many jobs or sports where fans behave and can say what they do in the terraces . Can you imagine if he was a tennis player and being called out for being a f’ing clown it’s not getting worse per say but society is changing and what was previously acceptable no longer is. hes made his exit and will be back before long . Suspect his old club will snap him up

This was a very good interview . i like how he balanced the vast majority of our fans and great and accentuated the positives . Balanced the narrative well . also that the overall approach will be similar with some tweaks to players . also faced into the possession stat and was clear it’s not deliberate tactic . overall comes across as a very decent bloke who’s put in 100%

This is where my head is at and appreciate it’s not always simple as players can get injured etc. weve signed +35 players in 2 years and currently have a first team squad of over 30 players yet many of the better players are legacy players or youngsters that have come through. Im onboard with needing a ceiling but spending the budget on say 20 players vs 30 would increase what we could afford . There is a bit of me of course that’s just always annoyed that we can’t bring the likes of Campbell back to us , I do love when the quality ones come back . Once upon a time that was hammels , lasley and later in career the uncle Phil’s , faddy, pearsons etc Those days feel like a long time ago now . It irks me that we’ve lost our ability to reattract
-
Yeah , agreed . I can’t help but wonder if we could have afforded this had we not had +30 players. overall always a bit gutted when former players return to likes of hearts , hibs , Utd as we can’t quite compete
-
Sounds likes it’s happening . i was hoping we could have made this happen and bring him back to put him in the shop window . hes exactly the type of player we need
-
Well done to our CEO for coming out and sharing what he could with a large degree of empathy. it’s not overly difficult to imagine comments and sentiment that would have been shared and overheard by family and loved ones at games . accept it for what it is, wish SK best in the future and look forward as a club to our next chapter

We have something like 30 first team players - really don’t see us adding to that . frail I hope is short term, given our last 2 appointments were internal with SH and SK I’m hoping that we go external. by external not just beyond the club but also beyond the usual suspects that lazily get ushered . theres so bloody good managers out there - majority are currently employed but won’t always cost a fortune to buy out a mgrs contract. take our time and look to get someone in before the end of the season.
-
My take on this was SOD was sent out to speak today by the club . He’s very well spoken and a decent ambassador - pretty sure the club sent him out with a message to back up the official MFC message .
-
Indeed - it’s masked that we have the lowest possession, lowest shots on target , won 3 in last 14 games . Moved from 12 point lead against likes of hearts and hibs to be overtaken any week now . or the stress and strain of a role where in September it was all laughs and smiles to several yellow and red cards or the lack confidence with all of those who backed him last year that we’d continue to end the season anywhere need the top 6. Re the £2m made in transfers - it doesnt reference how much of that has been blown on the 35 signings he’s made perhaps the club have played a blinder with using toxic fans and really being against SK resigning .
-
We have a decent record of not giving the typical Scottish Mgr the gig . my immediate thoughts took me back to when we brought in Craig brown and Archie Knox - this would be a similar ish appointment re a seasoned mgr who can help us . i do think we’ll appoint someone who wasn’t mentioned as the bookies favourites yestersay
-
No - doesn’t sound like he would or in fairness should have been sacked . A combination 3 wins in last 14 games, losing the togetherness of players and fans. His stock may be higher now than in 2-3 months had he stayed - we’ll never know . i honestly think he’ll end up back as RC before too long . Perhaps StJ will swoop for him
-
Will be interesting to see - prob similar to when SK got the job - he had a free shot at it for a few weeks . ill be interested to see how frail sets us up / how we changes anything . im hoping finances are not the driver though - although it’s not just Frail (who appears a decent guy) it’s all the others in the mgt team would likely need to be replaced as well
-
SK for me is bowing out at the right time . He can say I left Motherwell with higher points tally, cup semi and 5th in league when he left. That keeps his stock high . for me he’s looked quite stressed since December and honestly like Mcall and Robinson had ran out of ideas . At his best he and the team did the basics well - that went a long way . Those basics haven’t been in place since November and unlike last season didn’t appear to have the cohesion . got to say he gave his all and did a lot of good things for our club. I don’t this this will put managers off - the modern game is pretty exhausting . i do think we need to go beyond replacing the manager - from recruitment to all mgr staff it’s worth ensuring we’re set for the future . do want to say thanks for SK for all the positives and also for walking when he was out of ideas - full credit to him and wish him well.
-
That’s a solid point . If it continues to be as poor and the club does nothing then yes can see that happening . that being said as a club I think we’ve always tried to do the right thing and suspect action would be taken
-
At the start of the season our defence looked really decent . McGinn , Gordon and Casey . Add to that Balmer was also decent . With all the injuries I’d expect my most senior pros to be in the team . Gordon , balmer ans Casey for me are the obvious 3 . SOD isn’t a centre half , it’s not his strength and equally never really been sold on Blaney. Are either Casey or Balmer carrying injuries or are they just out of favour ?
-
I agree with many of your points and like you mentioned the togetherness of last season isn’t as apparent. also agree with signing policy - it’s been really poor and honestly I feel like this since Dawes . There’s been the odd couple of signings but in the main shocking . where we differ is picking the time for change . My thoughts are we don’t have much to lose be retaining until end of the season . By then we’ll know if we’re better or worse , as annoyed as I am I’d like to see how the season plays out . As a club who are doing reasonably well over the season with horrendous injuries I think we’d be wise to see how the next few months go , at worst I think we’ll be 10th
-
Suspect he’ll get until the end of the season and he probably deserves time as he’s built up sufficient credit . It’s been kept fairly quiet but we’ve got more points than last season and got to a semi. 😉 in all seriousness he needs to be given time to turn it around - we’ve been brutal since November , time will prove out whether he has what it takes .
-
Quite a few pundits are now on our mgt team - maybes that’s part of our issue
-
Yes - hard to win games where every game the opposition has double the passes , double possession and doubt the shots unsurprising since November the opposition have also had double the goals form since November is 11th in the league , we are 5th due to an excellent start. by March reasonable to expect is to be 10th
-
Sacking in top half is highly unlikely albeit some comments recent he’s making life hard for himself . he’s been given a very generous budget and on current trajectory we’re heading towards 9-10th again . the entertainment part will be part of his budget - fans will stop coming to games and that very much will impact
-
Don’t worry folks we’re 4th on the league and 16 points better than last season don’t worry folks we’re 5th in the league and league and 9 points better than last season Don’t worry folks we’re 5th in the league and 6 points better than last season . Dont worry other than this time last season we went through the worst run of games in SPL history - someone forgot to mention those facts . Suspect we’ll finish 9th or 10th in a league that is pretty poor with spending more on a squad than any in living memory . please don’t ask - ‘do who else is better’ in reality SK has performed reasonably well but then so did GA and he rightly got the chop .
