  1. Personal view is Woolery moving on is a good move. He certainly has pace and some skill, albeit didn't really hurt teams. Many of us in the first half of the season couldn't believe he got a start every week. With our without a fee I don't see it being a loss. Re Keeper - can't help but think Kelly is one if the very few players we have who would attract interest from bigger clubs - a bit of extra protection perhaps ?
  2. personally think Goss is ok but not in a 3 man midfield as he's a bit powder puff and doesnt offer protection to the left back. I thought Spittal was brought in as the left sided midfield player. Be interesting to see who starts from the likes of Slattery, Spittal, Cornelius ,Goss, and now Morris. Not to mention Tierney who looks better as an old number 10 type player. Gives plenty of options for formations though - a decent blend of players.
  3. Add Henry Smith to that list as well. I do have some fond memories though of Kirkie getting stuck in, he had brilliant battles with Walter Kidd and never backed off.
  4. My issue isn't with the player - he may be a decent midfielder/winger. I'm personally bored to tears of this 'he can play anywhere in the front 3'. at least with KVV he was singed as a striker - go sign another one of those please. I also don't understand the pile up of decent players for the same position - multiple right backs, centre halves and now midfield players - unless we're moving away from the 4-3-3 I've no clue what the plan is.,
  5. Hope he carries that form rather than what he's done since 2019, albeit I don't know if goals are what he's judged on , is he a midfielder, winger or something else. Certainly miss the years of brining people like Coyne, Coyle, Skippy, Higdon, Sutton who were all out and out strikers . Not saying Morris won't add value, more that signing strikers who scored goals regularly would be nice to have.
  6. we must have a much better win/points ratio for the games he played v's the ones he didn't. I'm a fan and glad we have him . Personally dislike badging him as a playmaker, he's a good worker, breaks up play and can pass but I don't see him as a playmaker. Giving him that title creates an expectation that frankly no one in our team can lay claims to. Our playmaker was sold to Celtic for millions and unlikely that we'll find an affordable replacement unless some gem comes via our youth system without being pinched before they reach puberty .
  7. Hearts are one of the teams we always had a real battle with when I first started going to games , a fair amount of needle in our matches back in the day with all sorts of 1:1 feuds all over the park . I respect that they’ve rebuilt their club and have a fair amount of perspective of where they should be. Utd and Aberdeen both hang on to their new firm rhetoric with Aberdeen in particular expect to win the league, even though 40 years have passed since their hay day . overall love our club and have varying levels of dislike for all others
  8. Gallagher had one great season with us - was he playing alongside Aldred ? Perhaps much stronger playing beside quality players . overall not impressed that Robinson is still pegging his hopes on the same players he had his hopes on with his time as Motherwell - unless they get off to a great start I don’t see him lasting
  9. I’m with you . 8 years with more than 50% win record . He took Aberdeen as far as he could . Sadly it highlights the restrictions our league has . Old firm fight for top spot , a few other clubs battle for best of the rest .
  10. Mcinnes has proven himself. Doing well with both StJohonstone and the 8 years with Abderdeen. He must be kicking himself not to have taken the bigger jobs when they came up. Now he's back at the level he was 14 years ago when starting out as a manager. Having to make do with a much lower budget. Difficult to call who'll do well and who'll sink. Suspect it will be another tight league from pos 5-12.
  11. I’m with spudmfc / Tierney is a cracking talent and be a very decent no10. also agree that shields needs some slack and be good as a forward pair . what was obvious last year and is still obvious is ditch the front 3 rotation . Appreciate it makes as narrow but also create space for wingbacks to get forward .
  12. Looking good home and away - let’s hope our play can match the quality of these kits . wouldn’t mind slotting this striker into our team
  13. Looks like he was decent enough in League 2 as a winger but struggled to do well in League 1. Rule of thumb for me is league 1 generally a step up on salaries etc that we pay. Many league 1 players would step right into our team. League 2. It's more of a lucky bag, few make a positive impact. Many don't KVV & Woolery pivoted from both Lg1 to 2.. Suspect it's that type of level. Higher pedigree than likes of Amaluzor . Personally I'd be happy to scrap the search for wingers , rely on wingbacks for forward play and give more game time to the likes of Tierney. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arthur_Gnahoua
  14. Good old ST Motherwell. Will be changing their colours before long . it’s doesn’t say much for Robinson’s depth of scouting system .
  15. Nice work - if this is the calibre we bring in then spot on.
  16. It's a reasonable assumption that clubs with fanbases x2 what we have will have finances and the clout to improve and be beyond what we can do. Historically Aberdeen and Hibs have been ahead of us, think it's reasonable to expect them to get their shit together. Overall all things being equal our most likely position Im guessing is 7th with Old/New Firm Hibs/Hearts all ahead of us. If we squeeze in front of any of them then kudos to the club.
  17. As long as players we bring in are better than we have I don’t mind it only being 2-3 or 4 players no more squad players thanks
  18. I’m with you Mio, this was my first strip and I god damn loved it . it’s a belter and delighted to have something a bit different from the norm .
  19. agreed - S'OD should have been told to enjoy his hols. he gave his all during last years tourney - came back fecked as no rest/no pre season. He needs a proper break.
  20. Pretty decent signing. In his mid 20's, proven at this level. A midfielder who can chip in with goals. Hard to know what's not to like.
  21. he's been terrific. A real handful and knows exactly where the goals are.
  22. We had c30 first team players last season. Boiling it down to closer to 20 makes sense + have a look at the youngsters coming through. I don't believe we need many signings. if we bring in 4 -5 who are better than we have I'll be happy.
  23. worth noting that Cooper was 33 when he arrived. Quite different to the 37 years old when he left - was used sparingly. Davis I suspect won't last a full season but completely agree he'd be a great influence.
  24. decent news on Lamie - as expected really and happy to have him. Maguire I'm personally not sold but I do like having players coming through the ranks and no question he works his arse off. A very decent squad player who can at least fill in.
  25. That’s one of my favourite chants of all time . only trumped by ’theres only one joe McLeod ……….fan”
