  1. Woolery was excellent - his pace and turn in the box was top notch
  2. there's no obvious gulf between the clubs - would be nice to see us hold the ball and start passing to one another
  3. indeed - Mcginley is one of Arrans most dangerous players
  4. I like the idea of both wingbacks starting much further up the park - gives us natural width and get a few balls in the box.
  5. looking forward to this - that could quickly change but very happy to see fans in FP
  6. I don't mind if we don't sign a creative midfield player. I do mind us having midfielders who can't bloody pass though. We have wingbacks - we could easily use them with a 3-5-2 / 5-3-1 We have Watt who can site behind as long as we play a 4-4-1-1 or a 4-3-1-2 suspect we have decent forwards and we have at least 2 decent midfielders with Donnelly and Ohara. Overall the biggest issues have been the formation we play and the players we either opt for are are forced to play. 2-3 more decent signings will clearly help.
  7. experienced, big 6ft 3 lad who's played 20+ international games for Finland. Never played in the lower pits of England. That would be very promising and a welcome fresh approach. Anything that moves us away from the conveyor belt of 23ish year olds, who played league 2 or worse is a move in the right direction.
  8. this is a league 2 side - reasonable to expect 3+ goals
  9. hopefully they don't go from brilliant to bawbag when we hear who they are and we give them a chance
  10. agree and im sure many others would back this. Watt playing just behind the striker(s) is such an obvious role. If we (the average fan) can this see this is an obvious gap and well worth a punt why can't the mgt team see it.
  11. agree with this. It would be easy enough to drop Crawford and put in both Ohara and Donnelly - we need to beef up. My worry is he sees players like Crawford being a preferred choice to OHara/Donnelly due to his work rate - he does work his socks off - but so would I and that doesn't earn me a place in the team
  12. Indeed - yet there's been 2 transfer windows and some of the same chaps still get a game. Would love to see some experimentation in these games. Different formations, some of the new signings - not the same dross. Last night was poor but I'm not stunned that we lost - that's the most galling thing.
  13. A creative midfielder would be nice for sure. From our current group of 24 players, it would be pretty straight forward to move to a 3-5-2, 4-4-2 or a 4-4-1-1 and get much better use of wing backs. Both Carrol and S'OD are reasonable moving forward. We do need some quality signings, would also like to see GA change things and bring in some of the players he signed.
  14. We have a squad of 24 or so players. From that would expect us to start fielding our best 15 or so players. Are some of the new signings just that far off any fitness - I don't get it - playing games is key to sharpening up. Would like to see Donnelly, O'Hara feature more regularly in midfield.
  15. Yoky - I hope your right. It worries me that we extended Crawfords contract , played him last year and playing him again this season. Maguire regular last year under GA and same again. Not blaming those 2 players for losing - I don't think the formation is right. All I'm saying is I didn't enjoy watching us last season and not enjoying the pre season either. Appreciate a long way to go
  16. This is the frustrating thing. I know it's pre season but there's plenty of warning signs. We don't have the basics eg pass to man in same coloured shirt, move into space etc. We also get outfought in midfield in almost every game. We are a very easy , predictable team to to up against.
  17. apologies - I incorrectly thought he's played for Patrick when they were in the lower divisions. Hadn't realised just how much of his career was at SPL level. Here's hoping he can prove to be add value. We need someone with a good touch and a bit craft going forward. he certainly fits that mold
  18. not 100% sure. There's been mention of a few players having to isolate or a few niggles. Similar question with Grimmie - He's been missing since March with glandular fever.
  19. Personal view - his best games have been in cups against lower league opposition. He's not had a huge impact in the league games, only played a handful of times but I've not seen much from him to convince me. I'd like to see him make more of a difference this season.
  20. Lawless has proven himself to be a very capable player in the Championship . Still got much to prove at SPL level but should be given a chance to prove whether he's up to the mark. Personal view is taking a punt on players from the Scottish Championship is a good way to mix things up on the recruitment front.
  21. very good second half - decent start for Woolery .
  22. I really dislike that we continue to play a 3 man midfield - we must be one of the easiest teams to go up against. a 3-5-2 or 4--4-1-1 seems such an obvious choice
  23. suspect St Mirren will be higher up than the top 4. An excellent manager and they seem to have the a good eye for players. That said we should be able to compete with them
  24. great news - having people who are Well through and through really helps with the culture at our club. Glad to have Keith around.
